Iron Powder And Spellcasters

Is magic really a wish machine? No! In a universe where magic actually exists, the ultimate nature of magic must be as simple and beautiful as the laws of physics. This is the story of a mass-produced magic warfare tool man who learned the ultimate nature of magic. But so what? Just as a bird can fly without understanding aerodynamics, so a wizard does not need to understand the ultimate nature of magic to use magic. Knowing the ultimate nature of magic does not mean that the tool man can become a great magician. But the desire for knowledge is human instinct, and curiosity is the first driving force of human civilization. Humans hope to understand the inner workings of magic, even if it is supposed to be unreasonable. An inquiry into the ultimate nature of magic, without any justification! The story in the book takes place in an age where steel dances with gunpowder. Here, muskets are in the ascendant, armor is still the protagonist, military theories are changing with each passing day, and innovations in systems and craftsmanship are emerging one after another. And this world has one more thing than ours: magic. The world is undergoing earth-shaking changes, and no one can stay out of it.

Chapter 1
Iron Powder and Spellcasters ~

  The End of Tide Volume

When I made up a missing word just now, a page suddenly popped up: 500,000-word milestone.

In other words, I wrote exactly 500,000 words—although it was less than 500,000 after the deletion and revision.

If someone said a few months ago that I could write a novel of 500,000 words, I would not believe it.

But I've written half a million now, and it's only the first volume.

Originally I just wanted to write a story between [The Fall of the King's Castle] and [Thirty Years War].

Because the changes in military technology and social systems during that period are very interesting.

Add a little magic element and love element, perfect.

It can be written that I found that my ability and energy are really limited - to borrow the words of the doorman - I gradually improved from "making garbage" to "knowing that I am making garbage".

Many times I myself think that the writing is too wordy and too verbose.

But I thought "I won't write another novel like this again", so I didn't want to leave any regrets, and I tried to write as much detail as possible.

"The Scroll of the Tide" is called "The Scroll of the Tide" because this is the beginning of everything. Explain the characters, main forces, and historical background.

Many people in the book have actually been vaguely aware that the world they are familiar with is collapsing. They have seen the waves on the sea, but only in the next few volumes will they understand what kind of whirlpool they are involved in.

Now, they can only go forward along the established trajectory.

Because the first half of history is when the times create heroes, and the second half is when heroes dance with the times.

As for Winters Montagne, as a native, he was not born to know.

All his knowledge and skills are learned first and then improved.

   Seeing the mysterious mage using the nailed cannon, he thought that it could be used on firearms;

Ike gave him the inspiration for the "hair burning technique", which he used to detonate the enemy's powder jug.

Until now, the power of his fire technique is still at the level of "equal to carrying a lighter with you", and he just used this "lighter" to do a lot of things.

He was lucky because every leader he met after leaving the ivory tower was a nice person. He was able to absorb knowledge and grow gradually under the protection of his elders.

But if he can get happiness, I don't know...because the outline hasn't thought that far.

The second volume of    is actually the one that I have conceived for the longest time, but it should not be able to write 500,000 words. I will try to write it as concise as possible.

Thanks to many readers who have been following this novel, thank you all.

The story will continue in "The Scroll of Galloping Horses".

   20210131 Reissue

   (end of this chapter)
