(WARNING: COMPLETE SPOILERS FOR CHAOS;CHILD)

Prologue: Minamisawa Senri The First

Dear Takuru,

Thank you for the reply. I am glad to see that our letters has reached you safely.

As for us, we are in good health. About that okota[1] we were ruminating about, we bought it in the end yesterday. It has really been such a long time since we bought a furniture for common use that both Yuuto and Uki couldn't stop going on about it while we were choosing one. However, compared to the two of them, the one who was most excited about it might have been me in fact.

With that, we also rearranged the living room by a bit. You remember that small table in front of the sofa, the one with a dent on the tabletop? We kept that into the storeroom and placed the okota there instead. Also, we moved the sofa to the opposite side. I was wondering if it might perhaps make the place more cramped, but no one seems to have complained over the last two days.

We are also eating our dinner over there nowadays. Sometimes, Arimura and Kazuki would come over to hang out, and they would always refuse to leave the okota when it was time for them to leave. I had to spend a lot of effort just to pull them out. They even went on about getting some legless chairs for themselves and I somehow managed to stop them from doing so.

Nothing has changed, really. Everybody is as cheerful as they can be, no matter be it those of us at home, or our friends in school.

I just noticed it when I received your reply, but now that I think back, this was the first time that I have received a proper letter from you. We have exchanged plenty of messages on the phone, but not letters before. And after all this time we have spent together as siblings.

Takuru.

Do tell me about anything at all, even all those trivial things. Just like with the letter, I'm sure there must be so many more things about you that I have not yet noticed.

Truthfully speaking, I feel a bit regretful. However, there is also a part of it which I am looking forward to.

Let us share all our thoughts anew. All the things we have shared together in the past, let us go over them once again from the beginning. Whenever we forget something, let us talk about it again. I want you to learn more about me gradually. Sorry for asking you about such selfish things.

The temperature has gone much colder lately.

Do take care of your body so that you do not catch a cold. And try not to sleep with your stomach exposed.

I will be writing to you again.

Yours sincerely,

Minamisawa Senri.

Notes

1. A female language term referring to a kotatsu. A kotatsu is a low, wooden table frame covered by a futon, or heavy blanket, upon which a table top sits. Underneath is a heat source, formerly a charcoal brazier but now electric, often built into the table itself. ↩
