The Fox Concubine Chapter 5

I don’t want to die. A thought came to my mind.

Even if I should die here, I wouldn’t die without any pay. The annoying chicken was still standing there mocking me. If I died in the test, I should drag some with me.

I stood up with my lips curved, and patted away the dust on my skirt.

Moon, Lee, and all the foxes turned to look at me. I didn't know who called the first, “Hua, go, Hua, Hua, go for it!”

It must have been Lee who made this a total farce.

I didn’t have time to waste, so I hurried to run toward the golden pheasants. Though I was weak, my speed was great and beyond my own estimation. In several seconds, the distance between me and the golden pheasant leader was only several hundred meters. I was encouraged and raced on even faster.

All of a sudden, a huge cock ran toward me. My body was pushed away into the air in a second. Then, the thunder also arrived.

So this was the end. I closed my eyes, waiting for my body to fall to the ground, and then be chopped by the thunder.

However, when I began to fall, the thunder was not on me, and the expected pain didn’t come, either.

I opened my eyes to find a handsome chin in front of my eyes. Don’t ask me why I could tell the man was handsome by just seeing his chin, because the outline itself was good-looking enough. He made eye contact and lowered his head to me, complaining from the first word. “Stupid woman, you didn’t even pass the second thunder.”

I was lost for words. I had thought that my current face was beautiful enough; however, this man looked better than I did. He had silver long hair with a faint blue sheen. His features were well polished, and his black eyes were deep, with some dark green light. His beauty had a majestic and heroic spirit. I was stunned by finding such a good-looking man. When I came back to my senses, the dark clouds were like boiling water.

Then, the third thunder came as fast as possible, without giving me any time to prepare.

Though the Fox King was not nervous at all, I was. I fixed my eyes on the thunder in the sky. This was the last thunder now. I had read in novels when I was a kid that the heavenly test was nine thunders. Now eight of them had already hit us, and the handsome man was still untouched. The last one came slower, as if it was planning something.

After two minutes, a white light suddenly appeared in the air, and then a lightning bolt with a diameter of about thirty centimeters came at us. Looking at this lightning, he couldn’t keep calm anymore. The Fox King looked up into the heavens, with his eyebrows twisted. When the thunder hit down, he raised his arm to fight back with the previous conquered thunderbolt. Though the two thunderbolts were different sizes, the new thunder melted into the slim old one to become a bigger ball when it touched the old thunder.

All the fox spirits began to wail and howl when they saw their leader was so powerful.

The lightening ball rotated in his hands.

When he thought it was dangerous, he spoke to me in a low voice. “Though I helped you pass the primary heavenly test, without the thunder to fix your body, you won’t be a half-immortal. So, take this and endure it.”

One could sort of say he stuffed the tamed lightning ball into my belly.

A feeling of limpness and numbness, like getting an electric shock, ran through my body; however, it was not painful. Instead, it was so comfortable that I wanted to sleep immediately. So I did. Before I lost consciousness, I saw a pink, furry paw.

When I woke up again, I felt suffocated. I tried my best to turn over, and climb out from the thick and heavy quilt.

The door opened just as I did this.

“You woke up?” His voice was light but penetrating. I knew it was he in a second.

“What did you do just now?” I was complaining about the ball when I saw my hand turned into a red paw. I was shocked.

It seemed that he understood my wonderment and brought me to a mirror made by frozen vapor. In the mirror, the face of a red fox appeared. I raised my hand to shake, and it did the same as me. I had . . . become . . . a fox?

Though I knew I am a fox spirit already, I was not prepared to be a red fox. I should have been a beautiful pure white one. Besides, my body was only as big as his palm, with a long tail five times the length of the whole body.

I stared at him with fury. It was he who made me become this.

He walked toward me and caught my neck fur to drag me to his chest, and started to fumble me. “Only when you are in this shape will you be obedient.”

“You . . . you . . . you, release me! Who are you? Why do you hold me? I am not your pet.” I struggled to escape from him but failed. He picked me up to make my body hang in the air. I couldn’t touch anything or struggle anymore.

What a bastard! Anyway, I was a beauty! How could he treat a beauty like this?

I wanted to rebuke him, but my body was turned around and lifted up. Now my eyes were facing his black eyes, pure black, as the light green light seemed to have disappeared. He stared at me without any special expression. “Meier, you are joking with me again.”

Gosh! What did he want to do? Though the name he called was better than the disgusting Huahua, I was not moved by his rudeness.

“Put . . . me . . . down. Do you always treat beauties in such a bad manner?” I yelled at him, and began to struggle again.
