The Fox Concubine Chapter 2

The gorgeous man said to me, “I said that he’s a male fox spirit who is about 2,000 years older than you.”

I was shocked by this answer. “Then, what you are?”

The gorgeous man blinked his bright eyes innocently at me. “I am a homeless cat spirit, and you took me home.”

I had already reached my limit. “Then, what am I?”

He answered me with certainty. “For sure you are a fox spirit. Why?”

Fox spirit . . . fox spirit . . . fox spirit. . .

I almost went crazy!

Why did time travelling make me a fox spirit?

“Huahua . . . Huahua? How about you?” The man looked at me with worry. His care brought me back to the so-called truth.

“Hello, this . . . this kitten. . . Do I have a place to live?” I was still in a panic. Meanwhile, staying in the wildness was not a good thing. I needed to have a place to settle down and carefully think about all these things that had happened. How I hoped the man would give me a satisfying answer. Don’t tell me that I don’t even have a house, and that the only property was this wild mountain.

The cat spirit twisted his eyebrow and said, “Huahua, please don’t call me kitten. I dislike this name as a pet. Didn’t you call me Lee? Or do you want to abandon me?”

He gave me a resentful look, as if I was the ruthless one, which made me uncomfortable. Please . . . don’t look at me that way!

I coughed to hide my awkwardness, twisting a strand of my long hair with my fingers in a nervous manner. “Lee, how can I abandon you? It's just that I have lost some memories. Would you tell me where our home is? I want to have a good rest and try to recover from my amnesia.”

The man was stunned by my rough reasoning, but then he became excited. “Huahua, you don’t remember everything, and you want to go back to that place?” Seeing me nod quickly, he stood up with a self-sacrificing expression. “Great! Since you have made the decision, I will follow you back.” He lifted me up in a princess hug and stepped forward.

I regretted it for a while. It looked like the idea of going back was dangerous. And . . . to be honest, I was not happy being hugged by him. But the only one I could rely on right now was him. “Lee, would you put me down? I can walk by myself.”

The man didn’t accept my proposal. “Huahua, you have no sense of direction. Besides, your fast steps were dangerous. It is better that I hold you.”

When he came to this point, I found myself in a weird situation. My eyesight was now much better than before. Meanwhile, though he was walking step by step, each step was about several hundred meters. And I didn’t feel sick. Was this the fast steps he mentioned? Wow . . . I should learn this skill.

“So . . . when will we arrive home? Will you be tired?” I tried the best to curry favor with him. He was my only direction in this world.

Feeling my concern, Lee’s face turned red. He smiled at me shyly. “How could I be tired? Being able to be around you, I don’t care about being tired.” After saying this, he walked even swifter, with each step covering about a thousand meters.

After about twenty minutes, we finally arrived at the foot of a mountain. Lee put me down. It was so great to stand on earth again. But before I had time to look around, Lee had already raised his head and roared out, “Huahua is back!”

Almost without delay, a series of yells and howls stunned me. I began to tremble.

A pack of foxes ran down from the mountain, toward me! What a wonder! I hid behind Lee immediately. A big white fox jumped out from the pack and rushed to me, calling, “Master Hua is back.” Its strong spirit totally conquered me.

Then, the rest of the foxes all called after him, “Master Hua is back! Master Hua is back. . . !”

I seemed that I was their boss. They welcomed me.

I stepped out from behind Lee, trying to stand straight as a master. But . . . what should I say to them? Should I learn from Monkey King like when he went back from the heavenly palace, and say something like, “Hey, kids, I, Fox King, have returned”? I shook my head from this ridiculous idea, then smiled at them naturally, and said, “Hello, everybody, I am back.”

“Sister-in-law, you disappeared for three days, which frightened me! I thought to send brother a letter.” The white fox who had called me first turned into a pretty silver-haired, fairy-like girl with gray eyes, wearing white clothes.

She was about sixteen to seventeen, and looked very pure and naïve. Every emotion showed readily on her face. She was both happy with my return and unsatisfied with my leaving several days ago.

I tried to be as generous as a master, and asked Lee, “Who is this . . . ?”

Lee understood my meaning and stepped forward. He looked at the pack with disdain. Finally, his eyes focused on the little white fox.

“Moon, Don’t speak nonsense. Huahua is not your sister-in-law. Your brother didn’t marry her, and she dislikes him.”

Gosh. . .

I had thought that he would come out to say something for me. Instead, he came out to make more trouble.

It was my duty to handle this situation. I stared at them both, and then said, “Lee, Moon, stop arguing.” Then, I played weakness and touched my forehead. “I need some rest, for my brain is not functioning well. Lee and Moon will let you know my thoughts after a few days, everybody! Do I have any place to take a rest?”

When they heard that I was ill, the foxes turned worried. Lee came nearer to me.

Moon also wanted me to be by her side, and she took my arm, and said, “Sister-in-law, let me take you to the bedroom.”

Lee tried to bear her calling me such and took my other arm. In this way, they two helped me up to the mountain top.

Due to the double quick steps from both of them, we quickly reached the top in five minutes. There was a big, deep cave at the top, which looked a little horrific. However, it would be my home in the coming days. I encouraged myself to follow them into the cave.
