Iron Powder and Spellcasters Chapter 188

   Chapter 188 Entering the City

In the makeshift medical facility, Bud is examining Winters for the injury to his left ear.

The structure of the hearing organ involves knowledge of anatomy. Within a 100-kilometer radius, only Father Kaman understands it, so Bud can't see why.

"Will I just be deaf like this?" Winters asked aggrievedly.

"No." Bud comforted: "Major Moritz didn't heal as well in the end."

"Ugh."

"It's fine. Bleeding means there's a wound, so don't touch it. Don't worry, it's fine."

Set up Winters, and Bud starts to deal with the other wounded.

According to Army regulations, medical clinics should be located in the safe rear. But Budd found that the sooner wounded soldiers were treated, the better — even the simplest of treatments.

So his makeshift hospital was set up on the battlefield: the carriage was used as an operating table, the stretcher was made of spears, and the tools were only knives, pliers and needles.

When the soldiers of the standing army were transported back to the main camp for treatment, the militiamen of the Jieska brigade could pull arrows, take lead bullets, and sew wounds at the temporary medical center.

However, surgery such as amputation still has to be sent to the Legion Medical Center.

Within three minutes, Bud saw Winters running into the infirmary again.

Winters asked, "But the major has two ears, and I only have the left ear..."

"It's okay, don't worry." Bud replied while sewing needles.

"Oh."

  Three minutes later.

"How do you know it's okay?"

"My guess."

   Another three minutes passed.

"What if I can't recover? Am I really deaf like this? I…"

   "No, just don't touch it."

"All right."

   Another three minutes passed.

Winters ran into the infirmary again.

"You forgive me." Bud said with a wry smile.

"Let's go clean up the battlefield."

"Do I have to go too?"

"This." Winters scratched his head and said, "You can go if you don't."

   "Then why are you here?"

"I just wanted to ask... You can really be sure I'm fine..."

"roll!"

Some people say: After the war, there will be heavy rain.

   But this time is different.

The rain had been advanced in advance, and when the sound of fighting gradually disappeared, the sun, which had not been seen for several days, revealed its true face.

The bright sun shines on the ground, bringing a touch of warmth to people.

The raindrops on the grass blades reflect a little glow, and the wasteland seems to be covered with a veil.

The beauty of the battlefield feels unreal, only the icy corpses are a ruthless reminder of what just happened here.

The   Platoon soldiers were drawn into two loose rows, sweeping the battlefield.

The so-called cleaning of the battlefield is to collect usable things, to free the dying enemy and to ensure that the dead enemy is completely dead.

General Sackler didn't even give him time to rest, and as soon as the battle within sight was over, he urged all the soldiers who could still move to work.

The Jieska Brigade is also in the queue to clean the battlefield. After several "training", everyone has become very proficient in this work - even more proficient than the standing army.

Everyone carries both long and short weapons. When they see the dead body of the enemy, they first give them a long weapon, and then use a short knife to cut off their ears to mark merit.

Winters rode Strong Luck, following behind a single carriage.

From time to time, militiamen put **** armor and weapons on the carriage. There are people of Heder, and there are people of their own.

Andre and Mason rode side by side with him, chatting with each other.

Winters stroked the mane of Qiangyun and said casually: "The cavalry still have to be assigned to the brigade, and it is best to assign a brigade to a detachment."

Andre laughed dumbly: "Assign a cavalry unit to the infantry brigade? It's better to assign an infantry brigade to the cavalry unit. You don't count the cost."

"In other words, it would be useful to mix cavalry and infantry at the brigade level."

"Nonsense, cavalry is useful at all times, four legs are faster than two. But the cavalry must not be scattered, it must be concentrated. It can be allocated to the infantry brigade according to the situation." Andrei concluded: "The reason why you have That feeling is because we've always fought alone."

Winters looked at Mason thoughtfully: "Senior, what do you say?"

"Not enough belts. If the axles are strong enough, maybe the suspension can be eliminated altogether. But the weight of the guns and the frame must be reduced." Mason threw out a sentence without thinking.

Andre sneered: "Still thinking about your daughter?"

Mason didn't blink, and asked: "You two just said that cavalry and infantry should be used together, so what about artillery?"

"The artillery must first be able to keep up with the marching speed, not to mention the cavalry, at least to keep up with the infantry, right?" Andre patted the senior on the shoulder and said carelessly, "We three little centurions, What are you researching for?"

"Yeah! Why study these? I still have to raise pigs when I go back to Palato?" Mason laughed so hard that tears came out of his eyes.

Winters was sad, and comforted the senior in a low voice: "It's gold that always shines."

Mason smiled and shook his head, but said nothing.

The loose double-row line keeps moving forward.

Some militiamen waved their hands and shouted: "Sir! There is a live here!"

   "Can you talk?" Andrei asked.

"can!"

   "Bring it to Lieutenant Colonel."

Whether    can speak or not is a horizontal line that determines the life and death of Heard's captives.

The execution of prisoners is relatively restrained by the Veneta army. Don't do it unless necessary.

As for the Paratus, they executed Heard captives without any psychological pressure. Whether to keep prisoners or not depends entirely on the capacity, the situation of the battle and the mood of the commander.

Unconsciously, Winters and others were gradually assimilated by the cruel customs of the "border people".

A green-helmed cavalryman came running from a distance, and asked loudly from everywhere, "Where is the Jieska Brigade?"

   Winters called the messenger over.

The    messenger asked respectfully: "Which one is Chief Montagne? Which one is Chief Mason?"

"What's up?"

"The general wants to see two people."

The    messenger led the two centurions galloping all the way.

"General?" Winters couldn't help but wonder: "Alpad? Sackler? Why are you looking for me?"

After    arrived, he discovered that there was a problem with the grammar of the messengers, not [generals], but [generals].

Arpad and Sackler were surrounded by colonels, and Lieutenant Colonel Jesska was also present.

Winters felt uncomfortable because he found the officers staring at him and Mason, and some were so jealous that their eyes were glowing green.

At the same time, he found that the two generals were standing on the small dirt bag where the white lion Yasin had been shelled.

"Two boys, why are you standing still?" General Arpad waved to the two centurions in high spirits: "Come here!"

This small area looks very tragic, with corpses of people and horses. Combined with rain and trampling, it has become a quagmire.

The disfigured corpse was soaked in the muddy water and had begun to turn white.

Winters' attention was drawn to an arm.

The arm, dipped in the mud—looks like the left hand—points to the sky.

As for the rest of the body...don't know where it went.

Whether the arm leaves the body or the body leaves the arm is also difficult to draw a conclusion.

Will the butcher be touched by the sight of the slaughterhouse?

Winters didn't know, but he did have some indescribable feeling—not guilt, but not joy either.

Arpad leaned on a saber, pointed to the corpse of the gilded horse, looked at the two and asked, "Jesska told me that you two boys killed Yasin with one shot?"

  Jesska nodded slightly to Winters.

"We fired the cannons, General." Winters replied in a succinct manner: "But Yasin, the enemy chief, should not be dead."

Alpad clasped his palms and laughed: "The prisoner confessed that Yassin was seriously injured, maybe he would have died at this time."

The major general kicked the helmet of Qingling Yu next to his feet again, and joked: "No matter if Yasin is dead or not, your shot will make him bleed heavily. Four thousand commanders were killed with one shot! If you hadn't counted the four personally Helmet, I thought it was Jessica who drank too much."

"It was Lieutenant Colonel Jesska who commanded properly." Mason gave the standard answer.

"Jesska was born in the cavalry, he knows how to shoot a gun?" Arpad sneered, he pointed his saber at a corpse on the ground: "Especially this barbarian, do you know who he is?"

Of course    Winters and Mason didn't know.

The armor of the corpse was hit with dense pits and holes by lead bullets, and the whole person almost turned into a honeycomb.

"This man's name is [Borgley], which means owl [owl]. He is Yasin's [Qibuhua Haugekota], that is, the captain of the guard. If you kill him, you will break Yasin's arm. ."

Winters had a little impression that between the first shot and the second shot, this person should have been desperate to block in front of Yasin.

He wanted to see the warrior's face, but the owl's features had been beaten out of shape.

"You two have done great work, and I will reward you!" Arpad did not hide it, he said bluntly: "If you are from Paratus, it is not too much to jump three levels. But you are outsiders, I It is impossible to directly raise your military rank."

"Borgley's sword belongs to you." Arpad threw the machete he was leaning on to Mason: "You are from the United Province, and I will let you go back to the United Province."

"And you." Arpad took out a shiny object from the interlayer of the breastplate and chainmail, and threw it to Winters: "This is yours later! Next!"

Something heavy to start with is an exquisite wine jug. Flat square, with smooth edges and corners.

The jug? What's the meaning? Winters was a little elusive.

He didn't even bother to think. Since Arpad dared to give it, he dared to take it.

And the Major General was right - only the truth can be so harsh.

For medals, Winters dares to take them; for jugs, Winters dares to take them; for gold and silver, Winters dares to take them.

But if it was really given to a schoolmaster, Winters would not dare to accept it.

The military ranks of the republics are the same, and the ranks are aligned.

Legally, all the military personnel of the Alliance are under one big framework.

Even the promotion of officers of all allied countries has to send official documents to the Allied Army Department for approval, and go through the formalities.

According to the rules, the transfer of military personnel is equal to the transfer. Plato's colonel went to Veneta and was still the colonel.

Accumulate work in Plato and return to Veneta to serve as an official, what kind of business is this? Isn't it the same as being roasted on the fire?

On the contrary, it is now, Winters is more comfortable and comfortable.

Although Arpad's speech was not polite at all. From the standpoint of action alone, he considered it from the Veneta's standpoint.

Here, Winters thanked him and put away the jug at will.

Over there, Mason raised his head and said abruptly: "General, please let me stay in Palatu."

"What?" Arpad raised his eyebrows: "You don't want to go home?"

"I want to, I want to dream." Mason replied word by word: "But in the United Province, I am not as good as an outsider."

Arpad laughed, and the other Praetorian officers also laughed, but Jesska and the others did not laugh.

Major General    wiped away the tears from his laughter, his expression suddenly changed, and he asked the surrounding officers in a cold voice, "What are you laughing at?"

Everyone froze in place, silent like a cicada.

"Is what he said wrong?" Arpad looked around and asked with a cold face: "If he was from the Union Province, would he still be sent to Palatu?"

   Nobody knew how to answer.

Arpad snorted coldly, took the saber and hung it on Mason's belt himself, and patted Mason on the shoulder: "Starting today, the country of galloping horses is your home."

Major General    turned his head to look at Lieutenant Colonel Jesska: "Your brigade is rushing to help in the rain, and everything will be rewarded. Take your people to Bianli, and I will let you be the first to enter the city!"

The battle within the line of sight is over, and the battle continues beyond the line of sight.

The Platoon hussars have set out to hunt down the remnants of the enemy.

Hard's army disintegrated, and it was the time when the hussars showed their talents.

If the Sackler Army was defeated, not a single infantryman could escape in the vast wasteland.

But now the Hurds are defeated, but they can easily disengage with their short-range mobility.

The Hurd people are cavalrymen, and they are herdsmen when they flee for their lives. Whether it can expand the victory depends entirely on the ability of the Palatine hussars.

Compared with heavily armored cavalry, hussars are unarmored, lightly loaded, and use light horses that are more agile and swift.

The Hurd cavalry came and went like the wind, and the Palatine hussars came and went like the wind, and the wind was faster.

The battle field has not yet been decided, and Arpad has already sent someone to copy the old camp of the Chihe Department.

It is no wonder that the infantry faction of Palato is unbalanced. They do the hardest work, but most of the honor, credit and spoils are taken away by the cavalry.

But the Jesska Brigade has no grudges at all now, because they can enter Bianli first.

The so-called "first into the city" is a euphemism for the first robbery.

The white lion blew a big gap in the city wall on its own, which saved a lot of effort for the Paratus people.

The Jesska team assembled outside the gap, gearing up to wait for the lieutenant colonel's order.

The crowd was beaming, and some people ran over to ask, when will the golden man be raised?

The location of the burial of the golden man is known only to a few people, and information about the golden man has been ordered to be kept secret—though certainly not.

Before, he was blocked in the bridgehead by the Teltown Department, and he could only stare knowingly that the Jin Man was outside.

Now seeing the defeat of the Hurds, the militias became restless.

Winters could only appease everyone, "Go and dig if you're sure it's safe."

In fact, there was no need to remind the militia at all, the officers of the Jieska brigade had already been troubled by the golden man.

Is it handed over to the Legion? Or privately?

is easiest to hand over to the Legion, but may only give out a leg as a reward.

Personal division, it is inevitable that rumors will leak out, and some people will be interested in making money. Moreover, private division requires equipment and time, and it is not easy to divide two tons of gold into hundreds.

And is a golden man a big deal? Or is it small? This is a "legal" question.

According to the unwritten rules, small spoils belong to private individuals, and large ones go to the public.

Gold and silver are generally considered small pieces, because no one will come up with a particularly large gold and silverware.

Things like gold and silver coins, scabbards, armbands, etc., whoever takes it goes to whoever takes it is only right.

The gold and silver sacrificial utensils seized by the Jesska brigade, the definitions of these things are rather ambiguous.

The lieutenant colonel handed in three pieces, and the rest were divided among the militiamen who participated in the battle, and the legion did not pursue it.

Who would have thought that the Teltown Department would come up with a golden man... In terms of gold, it is a small piece. But by size, it's a big one.

Winters didn't know what to do, so Lieutenant Colonel Jesska really had to make up his mind.

Let Lieutenant Colonel Jesska get a headache! For now Winters just wants to go into town and find out.

The    brigade was all ready, the lieutenant colonel gave an order, and the militiamen carefully "attacked" into Bianli.

But the expected resistance and street fighting did not appear, Bian Li was quiet, and there was no one on the street.

The crowd stood in the gap, not knowing what to do.

"The city of the Hurds is no different from ours." Ciel looked at the buildings and streets of Bianli, and said in a low voice, "It's just a little rotten."

The Hurd people are very particular about paving stone roads in the inner city.

The stone road is flanked by long houses with earthen walls and grass roofs. After the fire and the water, there were still black marks on the roof and walls of the longhouse.

"You can't even rob a robbery!" Lieutenant Colonel Jessica hated that iron was not steel: "Don't stand still. Go to the center of the city and find the most beautiful and luxurious house. If you encounter an enemy, shout a warning!"

  The crowd rushed in.

The Dussacs on horses rushed in front and quickly disappeared at the end of the street, splashing others with muddy water.

"These Dussacks!" Jesska sneered: "Robbery is really their ancestral craftsmanship."

Winters figured out what was going on. He said to the lieutenant colonel, "I'm afraid that those who can still fight in Bian Li have already broken through with the white lion. It is estimated that there are only old and young women and children left in the city."

"I think the same." Jesska nodded.

The two were talking when Pierre galloped back from the end of the street, almost hitting his own.

"What's the matter?" Winters changed his face and asked loudly, "There are still rudimentary enemies?"

Pierre jumped out of the saddle, out of breath: "There is a big tent in the center of the city! The old camp in Bittletown is even bigger!"

In the center of the main city of Bianli, a huge and luxurious felt tent stands abruptly in the open space.

The space inside the city wall is always tight, but there is no building within twenty meters around this felt tent.

Behind the felt tent, a blue horse fell on a large stone slab.

The chest of the corpse was split open, and it seemed that something broke out. The rest is intact, and the scene is very eerie and thrilling.

Winters pinched the steel nails and carefully opened the curtain with a machete.

The felt tent was filled with smoke.

The second golden statue that everyone was looking forward to was not found. There was only a pile of bonfires that had been extinguished in the felt tent, and corpses covered with strange clothes on the ground.
