the commander's pregnant wife 29 Chapter 1: A nightmare or a premonition?

It is an abandoned warehouse and surrounding it is a forest. The warehouse is made of iron but right now it's full of dust and rust.

Somewhere, the woman is crouching in the rusty crate outside the warehouse. It seems like she is running from someone. She's trying to find an opening for her to get out of this area.

She peaked in between the hole on the side of the crate she's hiding on. There she saw a man wearing a black jacket and has a mask a face of a clown in his face. He's holding a gun and he seems to be looking for someone.

The woman is very nervous right now as she doesn't have any weapon with her. She's wearing a simple white dress which is now full of dirt and dust, her hair is in a mess and she's missing her shoe as she used it earlier to get away from her pursuer.

She peaked again but what she didn't expect to see, is the same man she saw from afar and is now in front of her face looking at her face to face.

"Haaaahh!", Leila screamed and when she opened her eyes she saw that she's in her room and lying on her bed.

Suddenly her door opened and her mother came in panicking.

"What is it Leila? What happened?", her mother said then the next to come is her grandparents also asking her what happened.

"I'm fine mom, grandma and grandpa. I just had a nightmare. Sorry to disturb you", Leila apologized.

The trio sighed as they thought that some burglars came inside their house.

"We thought that some burglars came in because of your scream earlier", her grandpa said.

"Really sorry for that grandpa, maybe, I just had watched too much horror movie that now it haunts me in my dreams", she said then tried laughing as she trying to pacify her family's tension.

"Well, we'll now go back to our room. Just tell us if you need anything. Goodnight dear", her grandma said.

"Thank you grandma. Goodnight everyone", Leila replied.

Her family leaves her room to sleep on their own rooms.

'Strange why did I have that strange dream? It feels real though', Leila thought in her heart as it feels like it's a premonition for her.

You might be wondering, 'the heck what happened? Why is it not related to the last chapter?' Well, here is what happened.

Earlier that day, Leila went to talk with Lt. Madrigal about her decision. Well, actually she doesn't made her decision yet. So, here is what happened.

"Lt. Madrigal, I've made a decision", Leila said while looking straight into Lt. Madrigal's eye.

"So, tell me Sgt. Leila. What action do you planned to do next?", Lt. Madrigal replied as she is quite curious to what will Leila say.

"The thing is, Ma'am, *sigh*. I haven't made a decision yet. And so, I would like to ask you if you could give me a few more days?", Leila asked nervously. She knows she doesn't have the right to ask but, she just doesn't want to make a bad decision in her life.

"Don't worry ma'am I won't be a hindrance to everyone. I would participate to daily routines. I will work hard like before", she said trying to convince her superior.

Lt. Madrigal sighed before answering, "You do realized you're pregnant, right? What if something happened towards you during this period? We're just concerned about your condition Leila".

Leila stayed silent for a while before answering, "I know ma'am. In fact, I would not be able to forgive myself if something happened to my child. But, I'll just ask for a few more days' ma'am, please, I'm begging you". Then look pleadingly at Lt. Madrigal.

You might be thinking that what Leila is doing right now is pathetic but the truth is she couldn't decide what to do next.

If she quit the army, it will be difficult for her to look for a job as she is pregnant right now and no company would accept a pregnant woman.

If she decided to remain, she can't deny to her comrades her current condition as they will asked her why would she not quit when in fact she told them that once she got married she will remain as a housewife so, why would she continue working when she is pregnant and the father (Well, they would think that the father is Leon as they haven't known about her broken engagement yet) is a stable man which could sustain their family.

And also, if she will be reassigned, Nicolas might get suspicious and he might found out the true reason. She can't face him yet right now. Well, she's also thinking that maybe Nicolas has a girlfriend and she doesn't want to ruin any relationship even if she will say that he is the father of her baby.

Well, she knows that he is a responsible man and he'll probably take responsibility towards her baby but, she cannot just marry like that as she is afraid that Leon will find out the real reason of their broken engagement. It will really result in chaos *sigh*.

Well, she sure is facing a dilemma right now. If she could take a few days off maybe she'll find a stable job next? Well, she hopes so.

After a few moments, Lt. Madrigal speaks.

"*sigh*, fine, I'll give you two weeks to decide. I'll just look for a department that we would be able to reassign you first to work to do some paper works for the meantime. I'll just tell your teammates that you still need to recuperate as there are still remnants of trauma within you that needs to be cured. But, this will be the last. If at that time you can't decide yet again. I will be the one to decide for you", Lt. Madrigal lengthy exclaimed.

Leila smiled widely at her and said, "Thank you very much ma'am. Don't worry this will be the last. And also, I will still work hard just like before and I could also handle those paper works, don't worry".

"Okay, you could first go back to your teammates now while, I will ask the human resource department where you could be reassigned for the mean time", Lt. Madrigal said then started to look for Leila's file on her cabinet.

Leila bid goodbye to her and leave the room. She went to her teammates to check up on them.
