the commander's pregnant wife 20 Chapter 20: A month later.....

During this few weeks ago, nothing much happened at Nicolas side as he has to recuperate in the hospital. The only thing he did is to acquire info regarding the present activities in the army and also asked Karl about Connard.

He also asked Luis about what happened to Leila now. He found out from him that Leila went back to her hometown and live with her mother and grandparents. And, that she rarely went outside now and always locked herself up to her room.

'Does she really love that guy so much that she wants to make herself suffer?', Nicolas thought. Though, he knows that maybe his feelings for her is not that deep yet as they only know each other for a month but he can't help feeling upset about Leila's current actions.

It should be a great news for him knowing that she cancelled her wedding to another man but, right now, he's feeling guilty as he know that this might be because of what happened between him and Leila before.

'Well, whatever, I'll just court her after I took care of Connard', Nicolas said as he already doesn't want to think about being guilty anymore.

On Leila's side...

After her last confrontation with Leon, she shut herself inside her room. She also rarely went outside their house that worried her mother and grandparents too much.

"Leila, dear. Please open your door and let's talk about your problem. Don't let it all bottled up inside you. I am very worried for you now dear", her mother said while knocking to her door quietly.

But, only silence engulfs the area as Leila stayed silent while listening to her mother's voice outside her room. She knows that she's making her worried right now but she just doesn't want to face anyone right now.

Her mother just sighed then put down the food tray she's holding on the small table outside Leila's room.

"Just remember to eat your food please, my dear", she said then left.

Lately, even though she rarely went outside she feels like she always wants to sleep and there are times that she became too emotional and just suddenly cried. She just thought maybe that is the cause of always locking herself inside her room.

'Maybe, I just cooped up too much on my room that I became to sleepy and emotional lately', Leila thought as she is thinking what the cause of her condition is.

On Leon's side....

After her conversation with Leila, he drowned himself to work. He always works overtime even though he's not required to, which surprises his superior because, even if he works overtime he didn't accept his overtime pay. They are worried as they didn't know what he is going through right now. They tried asking him to help him in his problem but, Leon just smiled at them and just assured them that he's fine.

Leon's parent is also worried because they found out about his doing and is currently visiting him in his flat right now.

"Leon, son, tell me, what is your problem? Why are you drowning yourself at work right now?", his mother which named Clara Corwell asked.

As of this moment, they still don't know about the cancellation of Leon's wedding.

"Tell us son, do you and Leila have a problem right now?", his father which named Richard Corwell asked.

Leon just stayed silent as he didn't know how to inform his parents about their broken engagement.

"If you won't answer son, I will ask Leila about your problem. And besides, why is she not here? Is she on a mission again? She didn't even greet her future parents-in-law which comes from far province", his mother nagged at Leon.

Alarmed, Leon decided that it's better if he is the one that will tell his parents so that they won't get angry at Leila.

"Mom, Dad. You don't have to question Leila anymore and also I cancelled our wedding", Leon started.

"What? You cancelled your wedding? Why?", his mother asked.

"I fell out of love to her. I also can't tolerate her job anymore which always worried me whenever she go out in a mission", Leon lied to his parents.

"Then, just tell her to quit her job. Why do you have to end your relationship for that petty reason?", his father interjected.

"Dad, I already said, I fell out of love to her. That's why, I also didn't care whether she quit her job or not", Leon said even though he knows himself that he is lying to his parents and specially to himself right now, he steeled himself so that his parents won't get angry to Leila.

"Let's not talk about this anymore. I already end our relationship and it's final. And also, I think its best as to not question her about this anymore, she might be hurting somewhere due to our broken engagement", Leon said then bid farewell to his parents to retire to his room.

His parents is not convinced to his reasoning and decided to just ask Leila about this. But, they were still hesitating as to ask her about this because, what if they asked her and it's really their son's fault, it will be a disgrace for them if that happens. So, they decided not to probe further about their decisions.
