Shen Tianyu held one of her hands in front of her with her palm up and let the other rest on her knees as she slightly bent down . "Here, kitty kitty . Come over here . " She beckoned with her outstretched hands . 'Tigers are still part of the cat family . And so are lions . Animals with fur alwyas look so soothing . '

The tiger's hair stood on end from her calling to it . It didn't understand her exact words but her tone was way too sweet for it's taste, as if she was talking to a pet . It was a demonic beast, a creature to be feared, not some human pet!

"Aww . . . it's not coming . " She pouted as she lowered her hand . She put both her hands on her knees as she inched closer to it . Though it seemed offended, it didn't mind her approach . Her hands were clearly visible and she wasn't holding anything, much less a weapon . She was eventually crouching right in front of the tiger demonic beast, with the latter not having moved an inch . Shen Tianyu, crouching, barely reached it's furry belly . "So fluffy…" She breathed as she admired it's shiny and fluffy fur . "Hey, can I touch your fur?" She asked, looking up at the tiger demonic beast from below and inched her hand closer to the fur on it's leg .

The demonic beast huffed and inched it's leg closer to her, giving her permission . She lit up in glee and touched it all over the leg, even rubbing her face on it's fur, which seemed to annoy the demonic beast who twitched it's leg and moved it away .

"Ah!" Shen Tianyu cried out when her groping of it's furry leg was interrupted . She then coughed to give time to regain her composure and looked up at it, kneeling on the ground . "So, will you come with me? Just to the edge of the forest . I promise nothing dangerous will happen . "

The tiger huffed again and nudged her cheeck with it's nose .  

"Does that mean you agree?" It gave a slight nod, whic caused her to cheer and hug it's neck .

After "taming" her temporary spiritual beast, Shen Tianyu led the tiger demonic beast, who had never stepped out of the forest, to it's exit . On the way, there were some demonic beasts but her temporary partner scared them all off with just a low growl . She initially wanted to ride on it's back because it looked comfortable but refrained from asking because she knew how proud demonic beasts can be . And seeing that it could scare off other demonic beasts with just a low rumble from it's throat, it proabbly had a high position in the hierarchy of the forest .  

Since she didn't have nuch time left, Shen Tianyu was racing through the forest to make sure she didn't end up with no score, the leaves on trees rustling as she passed by or even being blown off completely by the wind she created . The tiger demonic beast, on the other hand, was prancing right behind her, dodging the tree trunks and shrubbery like it was just a walk in the park . Feeling a little competitive, Shen Tianyu jumped onto a branch above her and raced through the trees by jumping from and landing on branches . with a joyful smile on her face, she gave her temporary companion a smug look, spurring it to speed even faster . As the supposed companions raced through the forest, they zipped past a few of the applicants who were wandering near the exit . The girl and tiger both stopped just short of the last line of trees . The former peeked from behind a trunk to look for the proctor, who would have her crows call time when they were out of time . The said proctor was laying on a low tree branch with one arm behid her head and one leg hanging down, holding a book in her free hand .

"She's reading something . . . looks like time isn't up yet . Let's rest for a bit here . " She turned to her spiritual beast who promptly laid down on the grass, crossing it's paws and putting it's head on top of it's paws . It's tail swooshed lazily behind it before settling beside it's leg . Following it's lead, Shen Tianyu sat down on the grass and dirt ground in a lotus position, meditating to gather in some spiritual energy to practice her cultivation . She could try to tame another demonic beast but she was worried there wasn't enough time . And besides, she doubted her new fluffy companion would like the idea of her getting a new one just after she managed to win it's favor . It made her seem like those frivolous men who changed favorite concubines every few days or so .

Just as she was able to fully concentrate on gathering the spiritual energy in her surroundings, a crow's squak screeched into her ears, causing her to immediately snap her eyes open . Her furry companion was also startled awake, glaring at the yellow-pouched crow beside her ears with a murderous look .

"Time is up, time is up! Exit the forest immediately or forfeit!" It squaked with a harsh and raspy voice that neither sounded feminine nor masculine . It wasn't channeling it's owner's voice but rather repeating a message .

'Well, it's not a surprise demonic beasts are able to manage something of this degree . It's just a matter of time and training, I guess . ' Shen Tianyu thought as she got up, rubbing her ears where the crow had screeched in . 'Hopefully, that didn't break my eardums, I don't want to become deaf at such a young age . '

Her companion also got onto it's four legs, albeit more reluctantly . She was sure if it was able to transform into a human, it would be making a sulking face . They both stepped forward, human and spiritual beast, from within the shades of the trees and into the light of the day where the proctor had just positioned herself .

"Hello, Miss Proctor . " Shen Tianyu greeted with a smile .  

The proctor nodded at her in return, her pupils dilating a bit when she saw the beast beside her but didn't comment . Shen Tianyu stepped to her side with her companion and waited with her as the applicants nearby trickled out . The othert ones that wwent to hunt for demonic beasts to tame came a bit later than the rest, as they were scattered throughout the little forest . Some were unsuccessful and even ended up with wounds, a losing trade . Some were able to tame a demonic beast  with some injuries . No one was injured serious enough that they needed immediate medical attention, though, much to Shen Tianyu's surprise . However, after a long while of waiting, there was a person that still had yet to come out . Frowning, the proctor recounted the people standing around her and concluded there was indeed someone missing .

"Hey, you guys know where the last person went?" She asked them offhandedly, to which all of them shook their heads .

Shen Tianyu noticed that the missing person was the girl who had tried to team up with her despite her obvious hostility . Well, she herself didn't attack her so she had nothing to feel anything over . The proctor told them to stay, instructing her crows to watch over them as she went in to find the final applicant, through her bond with the crow that was supposed to be following her .

None of the applicants bothered to talk to each other outside of the people they had been trying to build relations with . Naturally, no one wanted to talk to her, most of them even avoiding her eyes as they whispered to each other . Shen Tianyu didn't bother with them either, eyeing the fur on her companion, wanting to touch it but didn't want to do so without permission . The tiger, now spiritual beast, definitely noticed her burning gaze but it chose to ignore it . Instead, it chose to lick it's fur to clean and straighten the hairs as it stood on the sandy ground .

After a while of being ignored by both humans and her new spiritual beast, the proctor finally returned with a body in tow . More accurately, she was carrying another body on her back . Who also happened to be the final missing, until now, applicant .

'There isn't any blood on the body so the person probably wasn't attakced physically . Was she poisoned or something?' Shen Tianyu wondered with a tilted head as one or two of the group walked up to the proctor to ask the condition of the girl .

"No need to worry . She just fainted . " The proctor promptly replied, loud enough so everyone could hear making it so no one else came to ask how the persoon on her back was .

Shen Tianyu's cheeks immediately puffed up and she began shaking but put a hand over her mouth and another over her stomach, doubling over to hide her face . 'So lame! And she even wanted to tame a demonic beast! She was talking so arrogantly I thought she had something but she fainted?! In the middle of the assessment! Ah, don't think about this anymore, Shen Tianyu, or you'll really laugh out loud . Don't laugh, don't laugh, don't laugh . Save it until tonight . '
