“Daddy, when did I say I liked that flower?”

This is so embarrassing. I only remembered the flower I saw in Marquis Irain’s garden because it was so unique, how could my words be twisted like that!

“Didn’t you say that you wanted to visit Marquis Irain’s to see it again? He said that he would plant the same tropical arboretum in the Imperial Palace. What’s the problem with that?”

A huge problem! There are a lot of them!

“If you didn’t like the flower, why did you remember that uselessly long name down to the last letter? You also mentioned that you wanted to see it not long after you went out.”

“I think you’re right, Your Majesty.”

Felix was seriously nodding his head but no, that’s not it!”

Daddy still didn’t like me going out very much, which is probably why he wanted to make the tropical arboretum within the Imperial Palace.

But it’s Aristolochia Elegans! I don’t like that flower! It doesn’t fit my taste at all!

“But Daddy, don’t you like the flower garden the way it is now?”

“I have nothing to say. Felix, speaking of right now…”

“Uhh, umm. Marquis Irain’s main garden was nice, but the one Daddy made is much prettier and nicer. Just look at how bright and beautiful the roses in bloom are.”

Come on, look at these roses! Are you really going to get rid of these pretty roses? Really? For real? Would you do such a cruel thing to these pretty roses? Huh?

“The roses do suit the princess quite well.”

Felix spoke cheerfully as he looked at me standing with my back against the flowers.

Come on, Daddy, look at me too! You’d rather see me surrounded by roses than a bunch of long tropical flowers with that long ridiculous name!

Daddy seemed to hold a grudge against me. Perhaps it was not just because of the Marquis Irain’s garden, but also because of the fact that I have been bothering him under the guise of a walk these days.

“No, the Aristolochia Elegans is so beautiful that I want to know how to grow it. Felix, tell them to turn this garden into a tropical arboretum immediately.”

“Yes, Your Majesty.”

“N – no Daddy! Hold on, wait, Daddy? Felix can’t leave yet either! Hold on a second!”

I had to do everything I could to keep my rose garden. I chased after Daddy, who had started walking ahead with a raised eyebrow and an evil grin on his face. Ugh.

Ugh. I groaned quietly as I stared at the purple flower in front of me.

“I see the Princess is looking at the Aristolochia Elegans today.”

“He-he, yes it looks so unique.”

After looking at the flower’s white patterns I stepped back while keeping a smile on my face.

If you stuff things like this in the mansion surely it means that someone likes it right?

Of course I respect your taste. But please respect mine too, sob sob. Every time I see this flower I get a chill up my spine. Is it because of the creepy white pattern scattered all over the petals?

“The Princess seemed to like it the last time you saw it, so I looked into it a bit more. I think it’s also called the Calico flower…”

“I see, Calico Flower…”

I didn’t respond to the lily girl, instead I hardened with a smile on my face.

TL/n: Helena Irain is referred to as a ‘lily girl’ here as a reference to the flower she had in her hair at the debutante that can be seen in Chapter 31 of the manhwa. She introduces herself in Chapter 36.

Wait, wait…! Do you like it? When I first saw it, all I could think was, ‘Oh… The flowers are very intense and impressive!’ The lily girl explained to me with such a bright and happy face, but I couldn’t tell her that the flower didn’t appeal to me.

Yeah I’m weak against cute girls. Ugh.

“I told the maids in advance and had the refreshments prepared. Please come this way.”

Today, I visited the Marquis of Irain after a long time. The one who invited me was Helena Irain, the lily girl whom I had befriended since my debut.

When I was fifteen years old, after I held my first ball at the Emerald Palace, I occasionally visited the mansion of the families who sent me invitations.

I shuddered as I recalled Daddy, who had recently announced his plans to turn my rose garden into a tropical arboretum.

But the good news is, I managed to save them and kept Daddy’s magic hand from reaching the pretty roses!

“Princess, please take a look at the flower behind you. It is the one you saved with your magic last time.”

“Oh, really?”

I widened my eyes in surprise and looked back. Just as she had said, there was a flower with similar leaves to the one I had seen during my last visit to Marquis Irain.

“The petals were blue.”

“Isn’t it growing beautifully? It’s still a bud but in a week it’ll be in full bloom.”

This flower had buds like that even though it had dried up and died. I had actually used my modified version of Aeternitas’ magic formula.

TL/c: Someone please stamp this guy’s name on my forehead, I can never remember how to spell it.

Honestly, the timing was perfect. Helena had helped me out and I needed something to test the new magic formula on. The results were excellent.

“If it wasn’t for the Princess, I’m sure it wouldn’t have had the chance to bloom so beautifully.”

Of course, we shouldn’t abuse magic, but if we revise the formula a bit more, I think we can use it in Obelia to grow grain in the relatively barren northern soil…

Deep in thought, I tipped my teacup, which gave off a fragrant aroma.

“I-I haven’t been to the Imperial Palace in a long time, but Princess…”

Suddenly, Helena began to stumble over her words and a deep blush spread across her cheeks.

“How has- um… Lord Lucas been lately…?”

Ah, the innocent white lily girl hadn’t changed since my tea party ages ago. It’s been three years since Lucas first acquired the title of the lone black wolf, right? Lucas is also a very sinful guy!

“He’s been the same. He seems very busy at the tower these days.”

“Oh, yes. He is the best wizard in the Black Tower.”

Oh, god, the lily girl has been completely blindsided by love.

TL/n: So the exact translation of this ended was, “Oh, whoops. The lily girl’s bean pods were still there just as much as her supreme and innocent innocence.” There is a saying in the Korean language that goes, “to be blinded by love.” but it uses 콩깍지 which means bean pod(chaff, hull) followed by 씌다 which means to be blinded by something. The literal translation comes out as “to be blinded by a bean chaff” but means “to be blinded by love”

From an outsider’s perspective, Lucas is the youngest wizard in the tower, which is definitely an amazing feat, but even among the other wizards with years of experience, he’s the best one.

There are times when I wonder if Lucas is actually superior to all the other Obelian wizards, but…

“Haa, the last time I encountered Lucas on the way to the Princess’ tea party, the blinding sight of him made me dizzy for a moment that I almost fell over. But this lonely feeling seems to be growing stronger every year, my heart aches for him all the more…”

TL/c: I’m cringing, omg so embarrassing…

Ah, it’s started again! I hold my hands in prayer again, looking at Helena with hazy eyes as she falls into her own world.

“I wonder how nice it would be if I could hug him even once.”

I will be here again for a while but, as an invisible person. Hehe, I’ve already gotten used to it now.

“Haa, I was young once. If I had met Lucas a little sooner, I wouldn’t have been misled by Lord Zarvier back then.”

TL/n: Zarvier is formerly one of the “Four Kings of Society” (who got replaced by Lucas. (; I’m not complaining) who is briefly mentioned in Chapter 36 of the manhwa.

I tipped the teacup again as half of Helena’s words flowed in one ear and out the other.

“Every time I look into his ruby red eyes, bathed in a deep loneliness that nothing can fill…”

Hmm, this tea has a pretty nice fragrance. Should we try to get some for the Emerald Palace?

“What, why is it so dark?”

“Wait, don’t turn on the lights!”

As soon as I realized someone had entered my room, I opened my mouth but by then it was too late. Ooh, my eyes! Come on, you’re too fast!

Lucas’ red eyes and dark hair reflected in my narrowed eyes. I frowned at the dazzling eyes staring at me in the suddenly bright room as Lucas tilted his head to the side.

“What are you doing by yourself with all the lights off?”

Why didn’t you ask me before you turned the lights on? But that’s alright because I have a big heart that can understand. As I laid comfortably on the bed, I called Lucas.

“Lucas, come here.”

“Am I a dog?”

Oh, what is with the dog phrase? Is it fashionable lately for everyone to think of themselves as dogs?

Nevertheless, I am sorry, ugh. But even though Lucas grumbled in dissatisfaction, he still did what I told him. Face it, you are coming here anyway…

“Come closer.”

Are you going to hang out with me? Why did you stop there? As I laid on my bed, I turned my head to Lucas and motioned for him to come at my call.

But Lucas frowned and seemed reluctant to approach me.

“What’s wrong? I told you to come here.”

Why is he like this? I finally reached my hand out to Lucas, who was standing three or four steps away from the bed. When I did, Lucas took a step back.

I grabbed his arm and pulled him closer. Lucas flinched for a moment when his arm touched mine, but I pulled him along anyway, not paying him much attention. After guiding him without any resistance, I sat him down on the seat next to me.

“Take a look at this.”

I waved my hand to turn off the lights Lucas had turned on. They say practice makes perfect. It’s been three years since I started using magic, so now I can do things like this with my eyes closed.

The moment I infused the air with magic energy, a sparkling magic circle spread across the ceiling. I had been studying formulas the other night, and out of boredom, I had drawn a magic circle as thin as a thread.

It sparkles like the Milky Way.

Oh, it makes me feel at ease. I remember lying down with Raven and looking up at the night sky…

“Doesn’t it look like a constellation?”

“You seem to be enjoying studying formulas these days.”

Even with such a stunning sight, Lucas only replied dryly in a soulless voice. I was shocked at his insensitive response.

“Isn’t it pretty? I made it yesterday!”

“This is the first time I’ve shown you something like this!”

“Yeah, pretty, it’s pretty”

“Ah, did you just sigh? Are you saying I’m pathetic?”

“Rather than that…”

Lucas muttered to himself in a slightly rueful voice. His face was lit up by the soft light on the ceiling and had an embarrassed expression that surprised me.

“I’m starting to wonder why I’m playing with you like this.”
