We’re at work,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘If you want to be fired then keep raising your voice.’

‘Tian Ting, I’m only worried about you,’ Ding Xiao Ran said in a softer voice. ‘Tell me what happened.’

‘I’ll tell you about it during lunch,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘Right now I have a lot of work to do. If you’re free then help me.’

‘Since we’re old friends, I’ll help you because you’re injured,’ Ding Xiao Ran said. ‘You’re lucky to have a good friend like me.’

Ding Xiao Ran grabbed one third of the work papers on Da Tian Ting’s desk, and returned to her desk.

Da Tian Ting opened a drawer and took out her phone. She received messages from Shang Duan Hua and her uncle.

All of Shang Duan Hua’s messages asked Da Tian Ting the same question. He asked her when she would inform his parents about ending their engagement.

Da Tian Ting understood why Shang Duan Hua stopped her in the streets. He didn’t care about her. He only wanted to ask her to tell his parents that she broke up with him. It was the last time she let him hurt her. Her love for him was dead.

Da Tian Ting called Shang Duan Hua’s father’s phone.

‘Uncle Shang, I’m ending my engagement with Duan Hua,’ Da Tian Ting said. ‘Uncle Shang can ask Duan Hua why. When I’m free, I’ll come visit uncle Shang and aunty Lam. Bye.’

Da Tian Ting hung up, and switched off her phone. She was happy everything ended.

At the Shang home, Shang Ming lost his appetite after receiving bad news from Da Tian Ting.

‘Duan Hua, tell me what happened between you and Tian Ting,’ Shang Ming said.

‘Dad, what did Tian Ting say?’ Shang Duan Hua asked.

Shang Duan Hua thought Da Tian Ting ending their engagement was what he wanted. Why did he feel upset she actually ended their engagement?

‘What did you do?’ Shang Ming asked. ‘Da Tian Ting did everything to make you happy in the last ten years. Why did she suddenly call me to tell me that she’s ending the engagement? If you don’t confess, you can forget about me handing over the company to you.’

‘Dad, you and mum only know how to pressure me to marry Da Tian Ting,’ Shang Duan Hua said. ‘Have you ever asked me what I wanted? The woman I love is Da Ming Sheng. It was dad and mum who forced me to be engaged to Da Tian Ting.’
