Chapter 38 Part 1

Xiang Nuan played games in the library for a while and discovered that she couldn't
really study there. So she decided to go back to the dorm to continue playing.

On the way back, she happened to see Yao Jiamu who seemed to be distressed over
something. Xiang Nuan greeted her and went on her own way. To her surprise, Yao
Jiamu called out to her.

“Xiang Nuan, let's talk.”

Lin Chuyan didn't tell Xiang Nuan that he was coming to her campus.

He wanted to surprise her.

He was wearing a brown, striped vintage overcoat with a light gray muffler loosely
wrapped around his neck. His two hands were in his pockets; one of which held a
small box.

Lin Chuyan was born with a great figure, anything would look good on him. With this
outfit and his handsome face, he attracted the attention of women as well as men on
the way.

Even the security guard at the gate stretched out his head from the guardhouse to ask
him: “Are you going on a date?”

Lin Chuyan lowered his head and smiled, but didn't say anything in reply.

He was planning on going to the library directly to look for Xiang Nuan. But before he
reached the library, he already saw her on the way there.

Not only Xiang Nuan, he also saw Yao Jiamu.

The two girls however didn't see him.

Lin Chuyan was curious. There shouldn't be a common language between Xiang Nuan
and Yao Jiamu, the only thing they could talk about would be Shen Zemu.

Lin Chuyan had no interest in Yao Jiamu, but to Shen Zemu……

Lin Chuyan walked closer but the two girls were so deep in their conversation, they
didn't notice him at all.

He hid behind a wall to eavesdrop on their conversation.

Yao Jiamu said: “Xiang Nuan, you already have Lin Chuyan, why are you still so
clingy with Shen Zemu?” She sounded a bit plaintive.

Lin Chuyan held tight to the little box in his pocket and his heartbeat quickened.

Xiang Nuan felt the question was a bit ridiculous and replied: “Xuejie, what you just
said doesn't make any sense. When people get together, they're together because
they have feelings for each other, not because they planned to be together. I don't
have feelings for Lin Chuyan but I do have feelings for Shen Zemu. Is there anything
wrong with that? Everyone has the freedom to like Shen xuezhang. You can like him,
so can I.”

Lin Chuyan felt like a heavy blow had just struck his heart, dull but powerful. He leaned
against the wall and looked up to the sky.

The winter sunlight shone into his eyes, it was somewhat blinding.

Xiang Nuan and Yao Jiamu argued for a while longer. Though both of them were irritated
by the other, they were mild tempered girls, it could hardly be described as a real fight.
After leaving the other with some unpleasant words, they parted their ways in mutual
displeasure.

Unbeknownst to them, they left Lin Chuyan still leaning against the wall like a statue,
still in a daze.

He stayed there for quite a while. Then he slowly took out the box which he had been
holding for such a long time.

It was a small black box. He opened the box revealing the brooch that was inside.
