The System of a Vampire Chapter 88: Skyfall: A Feratu Awakens

Draig's ravenous eyes seemed to gain clarity for but a moment before he started scratching at his skin, his eyes shot wide open with a madness carried by only one other.

His heart beat thunderously in his chest and he began squirm on the ground tearing the flesh from his own bones as he clawed at himself, though an obvious difference could be seen as the previously red life essence had turned into murky substance darker than oil. Draig released a horrifying shriek as the pain began to overwhelm him but it was far away where something odd was happening.

The Founder had been waiting for Draig to come and seek him out to continue the training though he had believed the real reason the young Feratu would reappear was because of his thirst for the Devil's blood in his veins. However he was suddenly brought to his feet as his ancient eyes widened in shock.

"This energy" gasped the Founder as he knew this feeling all too well, he hadn't been honest with the young Feratu when he had told the story of his becoming the first of the Vampires. It seemed that this event would reveal more of the tale.

"Damn it boy, what have you done" growled the Founder as his leg muscles flexed and like a bird he soared into the sky as his body began to undergo a horrifying transformation.

"To actually eat the flesh of the Devil's children and a first born at that, so foolish" scathed the Founder as his newly acquired wings beat loudly against the wind.

He couldn't believe that Draig would go so far just to gain a hint of the natural power he possessed but unknown to him was the fact that the Heir of Feratu would resort to nearly any means in order to achieve his goals and that included consuming the Flesh of Demons and Humans alike.

However the Founder also took notice of a familiar Dark presence he knew even better than Draig's causing him to sneer.

'My sniveling brat is there too, he better not have played a hand in this' thought the Founder as his dark side began to show.

He had taken great pride in Draig's potential and wanted to see the boy flourish under his guidance as he couldn't with his children, the first of his twelve sons due to them lacking the complete Bloodline of Feratu and he couldn't do so with Dracule because of the Vampire turned Pumpkin's weak body. Now he found that his favored descendant was going through a dangerous path to power that could even kill him if not treated properly, he would slay Dracule if he had any part in this mess.

'Last just a bit longer my boy, I can solve this. Just wait a bit longer' growled the Founder as his concern was genuine, his training of Draig while short was what he believed to be the proper way of passing on one's strength.

There was no room for affection nor familial ties when training someone and as such the Founder had treated Draig horribly and even tortured the youth in order to bring the most out of him and help him achieve his potential but still their was the fact he was proud of his young Heir and prided himself on having such a person as his descendant despite his obvious lack of Feratu parentage.

Meanwhile back in the Forest Draig's skin had become tinged black and shocking mutations began to appear as his snout elongated like that of the Werewolf while two bones extended from his back attempting to form wings but even more odd was the Horns that had begun to sprout form his and the whip like tail shooting from his back side.

A constant wriggling underneath his skin showed that his body wished to change but as it grew and shrunk abnormally while constantly growing and losing hair it seemed it didn't know what to transform into. Draig's demonic wailing rang out through the forest drawing the attention of the humans and demons alike.

'A master has returned' was the unanimous thought among the demons while the Awakened huddled together in fear of encountering a beast that could carry that kind of power just with its voice alone.

Dracule also heard the scream and recognized the signature of the Dark energy though, it was very different from what he knew.

"The Master calls us" came the voices of the Lanterns as they abandoned Dracule in favor of going to see their Master.

Not far from the location Kira and his pack also began running to the source.
