The System of a Vampire Chapter 163 - Task at Hand pt2

Draig didn't spend much time dawdling on his journey to the base of the Dark Deva who had stolen the egg, he wished to finish this task set forth by the Emperor quickly in order to give him more time abroad. He still held a contract with the Emperor that was only voided upon the old Man's death, seeing as he was alive again that meant the contract held true still.

To the Feratu this was like an anchor chaining him to the Subarashi dynasty, if he could then he wouldn't return again for the rest of his life unless it was to burn the Capital to the ground. With the Contract in place the Emperor could have Draig do any number of things which would end up involving him in the Subarashi's personal affairs. If possible he didn't wish to have any association with the Dynasty as a whole, thus he had made up his mind and now stood in a hazardous and wicked looking area.

The trees kept releasing a purple miasma into the air which would be the undoing of many unless they held enough medicines to continuously counteract the fog's effect. That however only added up if you were a normal being, Draig was a Vampire and though his regeneration may have started to slow that didn't mean he could be stopped by a bit of poisonous mist.

Draig had actually spent all of four weeks rushing to this location and had spent the last few days monitoring the situation, from what he could tell the Dark Deva were in fact subservient to the gathered Demons. This meant that it would be easier for him to move in his Hybrid for than it would be for his normal form, that said the Feratu entered his Hybrid form before dropping out of the trees.

The Dark Deva who had been sitting around saw Draig approaching and knew they hadn't met a Demon that looked like him before. This caused them a bit of confusion but the none the less they stopped Draig.

"The Great Demon Grato has ordered us not to let any unfamiliar characters through until the Ceremony has finished" started the Dark Deva Guards before Draig ran his clawed hands through their faces before flicking his wrist and removing the Skull and Brain remnants from his hands.

'Perhaps there was some other form of order that I wasn't able to glimpse. . .' thought Draig as it would have been meaningless to leave as it would just make it more difficult to gain entry when he returned thus he decided on the riskier route.

Draig cared for nothing as he walked through the halls flicking his forked tail at any who entered his path, the end of his tail was like a sword in the way it properly removed limbs or sliced through the throats of the Dark Deva.

Draig also had a look of excitement as he made his way through the cave like hallways of the base, he had made a major breakthrough during the time he had been traveling to the area.

As he thought about it the Rapier at his waist seemed to rattle as if to signal it's excitement as well, Draig had felt liberated of some of his shackles and thus he wasn't as cautious as he should of been and thus when he walked into a broad chamber filled with demons he was the one to be taken off guard as something flew across his chest causing the blood to spray into the air.

Draig widened his eyes at the speed of his assailant as he wasn't even sure of what had happened, the attack had come so fast that his mind didn't even register the pain from it.

'I may have overstepped. . .' thought Draig he grabbed the Rapier at his side.

"Easy there young Demon. . . . Considering that I am not familiar with you I will accept that you have no idea what you are interrupting and shall allow you to walk away now. If you wish to stay and intrude however. . . ." stated an ancient sounding voice as Draig stopped out reflex.

'Damn his voice sounds as powerful as the Founders. . .' thought Draig as the power within the words reminded him of the Original monster.

However despite this Draig still had a task to complete, he held no delusions of being able to attempt using his new found power and thus released the Rapier at his side.

"Wise decision, then again what should I expect from one of our kind that has developed himself beyond the initial ignorance" chuckled the Voice causing Draig's eyes to narrow.

He didn't recall accepting the offer, he had been thinking about it before but now that this Demon had spoken so assuredly about the matter.

'I'll test him out. . .' thought Draig as he allowed his Mana to circulate adding to his Hybrid form's already impressive power.

"Silence you detestable relic" stated Draig speaking for the first time since encountering the room of Demons.

The words seemed to have frozen time as everything fell ominously silent but this silence only lasted for a moment as Draig was nearly assaulted by the same attack.

Having been able to move his body quicker than before and relying on his instincts rather than his senses he was able to catch the offending object. It turned out to be a snake of some kind however that was soon proven to be false as the snake head that was in his grasp quicly became a hand.

"It seems I may have underestimated you, you are indeed strong young Demon but I will not be merciful a second time" started the Ancient sounding voice only for Draig to chuckle.

"Merciful? Ha, you can keep acting the way you are but now that I have stopped your attack I now know that you aren't someone I should fear" laughed Draig as the sweat that had began to build on his boy disappeared.

He had only been afraid at first because of the power that flowed through this Demon's voice had seemed reminiscent of the Founder but having stopped the attack allowed Draig the relief of knowing that his opponent was nowhere close to the Founder's might.

Draig's reasoning for this assumption was the fact that he was able to stop the attack at all, he had tried something similar with the Founder when he was training with the old Monster and had found that it was quite impossible. The Founder's strength was something that couldn't be stopped, any act that he tried to resist the Old Feratu's attacks were blown away with him as a result of the encounter.

"Insolent little Youngling. . ." growled that ancient sounding voice but Draig just shook his head as his hand found the handle of his Rapier.

"Let's have some fun, just. . . . try to make it til the end" stated Draig as he drew his Rapier and his body forcible reverted.
