"You even couldn't answer it." Qi Xunyi said with derision. "If I was you, knowing my woman wasn't in good condition and was pregnant with my child, I wouldn't leave her for any reason. I will put her above anything, not even a single country worth her life." Qi Xunyi meant his every word.
"You don't even have a country to be protected." Xiao Jun said as he sheathed his sword, no longer wanted to have argumentation with Qi Xunyi. Once he has no used for him anymore, he would kill him right away. "So, don't act like you have a choice."
After saying that, Xiao Jun turned around and was about to leave when he heard Qi Xunyi clear and hoarse's voice, talking to him.
"If I have a choice, my decision would be the same." Qi Xunyi determined with his answer. "Maybe you will make a good king, but you will never be a good man or husband for her."
Xiao Jun stopped walking, tilted his head and glanced at Qi Xunyi through his shoulder as he said. "It is easy for you to say that when there is not thousand life hang on your shoulder. You need to learn about responsibility before you talk so reckless like that." Xiao Jun said through his gritted teeth. "And one more, don't call her by her name casually, I am sure that is not the manner that you learned from Xinghe."
Qi Xunyi scoffed, ignoring Xiao Jun's last comment, he spoke. "You only apply your responsibility toward everyone except Qianru, because you thought, no matter what you did to her or what you didn't do for her, she will always be there for you. But, in the end she gives up, she didn't want you anymore." He said brazenly.
When Qi Xunyi finished his word a dagger flew passed his cheek and cut it deeply, he raised his hand to wipe the blood that trickled down from the new wound and looked at Xiao Jun's retreating back.
"That's hurt right?" Qi Xunyi muttered disdainfully.
Xiao Jun didn't want to hear any words from Qi Xunyi's mouth, he didn't want to hear another truth about it and chose to leave.
Qi Xunyi's word indeed true, but the problem wasn't as simple as that, there were many things that involved in Xiao Jun's every decision and Qianru knew all of them too, she had been very tolerate.
But, probably she had had enough and really gave up on him now.
The thought of Qianru ignoring him, didn't settle well in his mind as his breath quickened and the feeling of discomfort made him scrunched his brows tightly.
During their marriage life, he was indeed didn't treat her seriously, all the affection that he show was merely only a display, once no one saw them, they became stranger. No, Xiao Jun made her a stranger, though Qianru was his childhood friend.
Someone that he had known for such long time, sometime her presence was like part of his life, her existence was something normal for him until he didn't even think that she would leave him one day.
Knowing she wouldn't act the same way like she always did was something that Xiao Jun couldn't discern.
To put it simple, he was used to her.
Maybe Xiao Jun was still thinking about Riana, but Qianru's existence was something that couldn't replace either, it felt like he was going to a battle without his own sword. He could use another, but still it wouldn't feel right. That was how Qianru for him.
However, the feeling was thousand times worse than that.
Xiao Jun quickened his pace to reach their house only to find Qianru was sitting next to the window while staring at the blue sky, the habit that she had since the first day she regained her conscious, no one knew what was running in her mind when she looked at the distance with impassive gaze.
The room had free from various flowers, but the smell still lingered there and this annoyed him greatly.
"Qianru…" Xiao Jun called out her name softly as he walked to approach her, but there was no response from the woman.
Qianru was resting her chin on her knees while hugging her legs and staring at the scene out of the window.
"I will send you home today." Xiao Jun stood beside her, but Qianru didn't even spare her a glance.
"Alright." Qianru said curtly.
"I will be away right after I send you home." Xiao Jun continued, he wanted to see Qianru's reaction when she heard about it.
Previously, when the last time they met with each other before he went back to Rockstone capital city to save Liu Wei, Qianru would try to prevent him from going and wanted him to stay.
But, now Qianru simply answer him with, "Alright."
Xiao Jun's brows knitted, he stretched out his hand and held her chin between his fingers as she lifted her face to look at him in the eyes.
Qianru obliged to look at him, but there was nothing in there. There wasn't the familiar spark and adoration inside them.
She was no longer looked at him with the same way she had always done for more than fifteen years. The spark had died.
As Xiao Jun realized what he lost, he felt panic crept in his heart.
"I don't want you to meet Qi Xunyi anymore." He said his name with derision like he was cursing someone.
"Alright." It was still the same short answer.
Xiao Jun was at lost, he didn't know what he had to do nor he knew what to say to get a bit of her attention, something that he didn't need even an effort to get it before.
In his frustration to get any reaction from her, he bent down his knees and cupped her face to kiss her lips.
