Chapter 1388: Chapters 1336–1337 Life Simulation–Sui's Goal Chapter 1388: Chapters 1336–1337 Life Simulation–Sui's Goal “What's wrong, is there something amiss?” Pei Xuanjing looked at Sui, who was clearly astonished, and couldn't help but smile and ask.
Confused, Sui asked, “Xi, my friend, you agreed to my request just like that, without even asking why or what needs to be done?”
The innocence of a child does not mean total ignorance; Sui also knew that when asking a friend for help, one needs to explain the reason and let them decide whether to agree or not.
Pei Xuanjing countered, “Aren't we friends? Besides, would you harm me?”
“We are friends, and of course, I would never harm you!” Sui first nodded, then shook his head resolutely, indicating he would definitely not harm Xi.
For him, Xi was his friend, a good friend at that. During the time they spent together, Xi had brought him much insight, inspiring great admiration in Sui, who already considered the other as his comrade and friend. How could he possibly harm him?
“That settles it then. We're friends, and you wouldn't harm me. If you need my assistance, how could I possibly refuse?” Pei Xuanjing replied with a question of his own.
Sui was stunned, feeling that it made sense, and that there was nothing wrong with that the logic. He wouldn't harm Xi, and Xi wouldn't refuse him, so agreeing to his request was only natural.
Although Sui felt there was something odd about it, he didn't delve deeper and was thus persuaded by Xi's words.
What he didn't know was that aside from this reason, Pei Xuanjing was inclined to repay Sui for the help he had provided during this time.
Although without Sui, he could have managed the same tasks by himself, the time and effort that would have been wasted are immeasurable.
Moreover, since Pei Xuanjing had a desire to explore why the King of the Fire Country was changing so frequently, he naturally wouldn't overlook these matters. And given that Sui was the foster son of the King of the Fire Country, it was almost certain that his concerns were related to the monarch of the Fire Country.
“Xi, I went to see my father today, and he requires me to do something, but my own power may not suffice. Among my many friends, you are the wisest and the most suitable to help me,” Sui said to Pei Xuanjing with a serious expression.
Today, after the King of the Fire Country came out of seclusion, he summoned Sui. Sui had thought it would be a typical father-son meeting like always, as the king had always met with him after coming out of seclusion, and this time should be no exception.
However, this time it was different. After showing concern for Sui's recent life and cultivation as usual, the King's expression turned grave.
“Sui, my child, now your father needs you to do something, something that is linked to my life. Of all my children, only you can help me,” the King of the Fire Country spoke to Sui in a tone that was almost begging.
For Sui, who had grown up under the protection of the King of the Fire Country, the reverence and love he had for his father were unparalleled; hearing such earnest pleas from his father, how could he refuse?
Yet, after agreeing and walking out of King City, he realized he had no clue what to do–the task was not simple, so he needed to seek help. The first person who came to mind was Xi.
In Sui's eyes, Xi was a being of great wisdom, who, despite being from the human race, had a breadth of knowledge that was on par with some of the wisest members of the God Clan he had met. The difficult problems Sui faced would surely have a solution to Xi.
“So you need me to help you carry out the task given to you by the King?” Pei Xuanjing asked with a light laugh.
“Yes, I believe only you can help me with carrying out this mission,” Sui replied, looking earnestly at Pei Xuanjing.
“Then tell me what exactly it is!” Pei Xuanjing nodded.
“My father wishes for me to establish a kingdom and then become a branch of the Fire Country, to strengthen the power of the Fire Country and help him survive the calamity and ascend to the Divine Position,” Sui explained truthfully.
The task the King of the Fire Country had set for Sui was to recruit the human race, gather them, establish a kingdom belonging to the human race, and make this kingdom a branch of the Fire Country. By leveraging the Qi Luck and power of the Human Clan's Kingdom, he aimed to help the Fire Country overcome its disasters.
“So you're to establish your kingdom, and with the human race?” Pei Xuanjing's expression remained unchanged, but a flicker of cold light passed through his eyes.
Almost the moment he heard this description, Pei Xuanjing instinctively suspected that the King of the Fire Country harbored ill intentions and wanted to use the human race as cannon fodder.
It must be understood that in the conflicts between different kingdoms, besides the battles between the strong, large armies comprised of ordinary beings are an integral part of the strife.
Unlike tribes, a key reason for kingdoms ranking higher than tribes is that kingdoms are more inclusive. The primary pillar of a kingdom might be one particular God Clan, belonging to the King's Clan, but other members of the God Clan, as well as the Mortal Clan, are also part of the kingdom, constituting it together.
It's the same with the Fire Country.
Even if the Fire Country were about to wage war against other kingdoms and needed to form more armies, the King could easily conscript other races, whether by rewarding them with merits, titles, and lands or by hiring them with money–that would not be an issue.
Even the human race would not reject such methods. Many large human tribes living within the borders of the Fire Country initially rose to prominence as frontline warriors for the Fire Country, earning their lands and starting to thrive with the merits they had achieved.
