Chapter 1330: Chapter 1278–Chapter 1279 Taoist Monarch's Recognition Chapter 1330: Chapter 1278–Chapter 1279 Taoist Monarch's Recognition A person's name is as enduring as a tree's shadow.
One's reputation is accumulated over many years, validated through time and countless events.
Even in such a transcendent world, where you possess great power that invokes fear and terror, it doesn't necessarily command others' conviction.
The so-called overwhelming by force, even though it may subdue people, cannot win their true submission.
Even though Pei Xuanjing has the most formidable power between heaven and earth, capable of suppressing anyone, his current status and the respect of countless people also come from his way of conducting himself.
To win people over with virtue is Pei Xuanjing's philosophy in life.
Of course, this doesn't mean that power is unimportant.
Power serves as the foundation for convincing others to listen calmly to your spoken truths. Without it, all the reason and morality in the world can't truly persuade anyone.
The revered Confucian figure amongst the Hundred Schools, Confucius himself, was able to pass down his teachings not only due to his high morality but also because of his sufficient power to persuade his disciples and enemies to listen to him.
Perhaps at the beginning of his rise, Pei Xuanjing simply overwhelmed others with his power, suppressing countless opponents.
However, when he truly stood at the pinnacle, desiring more recognition, support, and followers, sheer force alone was insufficient to sustain such goals.
He established the Taoist Academy, created the contribution system of the Academy, taught the Taoist Skills, lectured on the principles, and then promoted the Immortal and Mortal Covenant and the Enthroning of Gods. These deeds were enough for many to trust in his character and morals, hailing him as a Holy Sage.
Thus, when he proposed the Expansion Plan, he gained widespread approval, and people believed in his plan.
Now, as controversy and waves have arisen around this issue, he is ready to make his stance clear, and the gods await expectantly.
Because in the eyes of these gods, given his consistently fair approach, his will most often takes into account the interests of everyone, not harming one party for the sake of another.
“First and foremost, this Expansion Plan was initiated and promoted by I, and that Taoist Friends have been willing to support it shows trust in me, for which I am deeply grateful,” began Pei Xuanjing with a bow to all present.
“Taoist Friend, you speak too seriously!”
“Taoist Monarch need not be so formal!”
“Taoist Monarch's actions are for the good of all under heaven, a truly great achievement.”
The gods hurriedly expressed their sentiments.
After waiting for many gods to quiet down, Pei Xuanjing turned his gaze to the Star God Ding Ce: “Regarding this matter of the Star God, it was indeed proposed by me. Although there were some oversights, it is still within the bounds of reason…”
Unexpectedly, Pei Xuanjing first expressed his position, not to punish the Star God Ding Ce.
This caused a slight shift in the countenance of many gods, who wondered if the Taoist Monarch also supported the idea of independently developing newly discovered worlds.
After all, the Shenxiao Lineage is now a powerful force, and if they were to develop a world on their own, they could reap immense benefits.
But to many gods, he did not appear to be such a person; if truly so inclined, why would he propose such a plan at all, when he could have pursued it alone, making the initial proposal superfluous?
Nevertheless, they partly acknowledged what Pei Xuanjing said about the Star God Ding Ce's affair.
Even those among the gods clamoring for harsh punishment were using this issue to make a point, not truly caring about the individual's fate.
The truth is, the outcome for this Star God Ding Ce might be very important, or it might be of no consequence at all.
The heart of his fate lies in whether the unauthorized development of the Small Thousand World is right or wrong, the crux of the dispute between the two powers.
Similarly, if the Longevity Taoist Monarch presents an acceptable solution to everyone, the necessity of punishing Star God Ding Ce diminishes.
After all, if one were to scrutinize all the actions of Star God Ding Ce, although there are some issues, they are trivial; rather, by virtue of the discovery of this world alone, his deed could be seen as a great accomplishment.
This is indisputable.
The current controversy and the desire of one faction to convict him is to set a precedent, to make clear to all that no one may independently develop a world they discover.
Yet if allowing this faction of gods to protect their interests means that even granting Star God Ding Ce clemency, or offering a special pardon in the name of the Jade Emperor and the princes, such actions are permissible.
Moreover, now that the Longevity Taoist Monarch has proactively stepped forward to assume responsibility for the matter, he has absolved the Star God Ding Ce of part of the blame.
“All the blame lies with me; I, overwhelmed by greed, could not control my own heart, leading to the current situation. Now, I have decided to present this Small Thousand World to the Heavenly Court to seek forgiveness for my transgressions, and I ask for the approval of the Taoist Monarch and His Majesty,” the Star God Ding Ce voluntarily spoke, kneeling on the ground with a sincere and fearful expression.
In truth, the most crucial aspect of this matter lies not with the conflicting parties, but with the Star God Ding Ce's personal choice. He seems to have fallen into a misconception; if he decisively offers up the Small Thousand World, he would not only be without guilt but might even be credited for it.
However, interest sways the heart, and the numerous Fortuitous Opportunities he has acquired within this Small Thousand World–if he can truly relinquish them–would require a resolve not everyone possesses.
