Chapter 1313: Chapter 1260 – Chapter 1261 An Irresolvable Open Scheme_2 Chapter 1313: Chapter 1260 – Chapter 1261 An Irresolvable Open Scheme_2 With the events that unfolded at the beginning of the Great Ming World as a precedent, they could foresee what was bound to happen once the Taoist Academy started its construction.
Disciples from the academy would either become Independent Practitioners, or they would be recruited by other factions.
However, joining a new faction, their backgrounds determined that only a very small part would be appreciated and quickly rise through the ranks. Many disciples might find themselves shunned by the existing members.
After all, apart from newly established factions that were short on manpower and had enough benefits to go around, the many Imperial Dynasties, the longer they had been established, the more internal factions they had. The established interest groups certainly would not share their influence with newcomers, planting the seeds of conflict.
At first, when there were few disciples with low power, it might not seem significant, but as their number and strength grew, this would become an extremely powerful force, exacerbating the internal conflicts and struggles of many factions.
This was the challenge of the new factions to the established ones, a struggle for benefits that was also inevitable.
To avoid this conflict, they could only nip the problem in the bud to prevent the formation of new forces from the start.
But it was impossible to either assimilate them into old forces or to give up on recruiting disciples from the academy.
Integrating academy disciples depended not on empty promises, but on the actual presentation of tangible benefits for enticement, which was extremely difficult.
And giving up on recruiting disciples from the academy was even more out of the question since not doing so while other factions were recruiting would mean that one was falling behind and becoming weaker.
“This is an Open Scheme, this is a deadlock, fundamentally impossible to resolve,” the Fate Controller Star Lord smirked. “The many factions have been unable to solve this Open Scheme even after hundreds of years, so it is nearly impossible for the powerhouses of this world to solve it.”
All the Star Lords nodded in agreement. It was verified that none of the wielders of great powers could resolve it. If it hadn't been for the Emperor Monarch deliberately holding back, allowing many Taoist Academy disciples to remain within the academy, these factions would not have had the time to address these problems and would have already exploded from within.
But now they would not hold back, they intended to let the Imperial Dynasties' internal strife intensify, making their move at the most opportune time.
“However, if we are to start the academy, I'm afraid we are a bit short on manpower,” Wood Virtue Star Lord said, looking to Star Lord Yi Suan and the Fate Controller Star Lord.
Although these two had previously conspired to undermine him, everything they did was within the rules, and he had successfully countered, thwarting their plans.
In the end, though, they were on the same side, and even as adversaries, he had to admit their wisdom, knowing full well that if it weren't for the Emperor Monarch overseeing, directing their competition into a positive one within a set of rules, he simply couldn't outwit them with experience alone.
“The matter of the academy is simple, we already have a base, and we can now guide the descent of those from the Heavenly Court. Everything is prepared, if they still don't come to do some work, would they still have the face to expect benefits later?” Star Lord Yi Suan said with a chuckle, evidently unconcerned about the problem.
They had already prepared the initial plans, and the difficult and tedious tasks were complete. Now, it was time to guide the descent of others from the Heavenly Court who were needed for more manpower.
Otherwise, if they were to handle all matters on their own, the Gods of the Heavenly Court would truly become mere spectators with no chance to intervene, making the division of subsequent benefits problematic.
According to the agreements between the Emperor Monarch and the True Immortals, regardless of which world was opened up, as members of the Heavenly Court, every God was entitled to a share of the benefits as a guaranteed salary, a welfare of the Heavenly Court Gods.
But this didn't mean they could really do nothing and wait quietly for others to do the hard work before sharing the spoils. That would be against the rules. These Gods also had their pride and couldn't possibly do that.
Moreover, every God wanted to become stronger. The benefits one could obtain as part of the Heavenly Court were just the basics, a guarantee, and though it seemed substantial compared to ordinary Independent Practitioners, in reality, it wasn't enough for their Cultivation.
Only by truly participating in the Heavenly Court's Expansion Plan and establishing more merit could one obtain greater rewards. This rule was established by the Longevity Taoist Monarch alongside several True Immortals after the War of Sealing Gods.
The salaries of the Heavenly Court Gods were only a base guarantee, and those who desired more rewards had to strive, fight, and earn more opportunistic fortunes through their own abilities.
This was a culture within the Heavenly Court or perhaps a kind of spirit, which was termed by the Longevity Taoist Monarch as the “wolf culture”.
He compared all the Heavenly Court Gods, True Immortals, and even the Independent Practitioners to an entity where, as part of the Creatures of Heaven and Earth, ascension was within reach, but if one desired more, they had to fight vigorously, just like wild wolves.
For this philosophy, every strong entity among the Gods held different opinions. Yet, they could not deny that this rule was the fairest method for the current Heavenly Court and all Creatures of Heaven and Earth.
“So, do we need to report all this to the Emperor Monarch next, and then start preparing to construct the Human sacrificial altar, awaiting the descent of others?” Wood Virtue Star Lord set the tone as the current nominal team leader, his status giving him the right to make this decision.
Then they sought guidance from Pei Xuanjing, and as expected, Pei Xuanjing also approved of their plan.
Unlike the earlier scenario where Wood Virtue Star Lord was alone when sending out the message to the Heavenly Court and establishing the coordinates of this world, they needed Pei Xuanjing to make a move personally and then could only bring about a dozen Star Lords to descend.
Now with the base of the Myriad Laws Building, and its countless years of foundations at their disposal, they could completely construct a massive Guidance Formation to welcome the descent of the Heavenly Court Gods.
They had already mastered such Guidance Formations, as, in the past, those great forces would use these formations to travel back and forth between the Ancestral Land and the Sky Wasteland Realm.
These Guidance Formations were once capable of pulling through the Chaos to allow the Spirit Realm Cave Heavens within the Sky Wasteland Realm to descend. Now, welcoming the Incarnations of the Gods was simpler than ever.
While the Star Lords at the heavenly gate began constructing the Guidance Formation, the envoys from various Imperial Dynasties and Holy Lands also took back everything negotiated to report back to their Great Ancient Emperor Saint Lords.
“Hmm? They agreed so readily?”
“They agreed so easily, just in exchange for Heavenly and Earthly Treasures?”
“What plot could these people have…”
This probing attempt had easily yielded the response they desired, undoubtedly surprising these Great Ancient Emperors.
However, surprising as it was, since the other party was willing to exchange and bring forth the elements of this new Cultivation system, the Great Ancient Emperors, who didn't harbor much hostility to begin with, temporarily set aside their caution and other thoughts.
It's important to note that Pei Xuanjing's intervention was a tremendous shock for many Great Ancient Emperors, and even though they had never clashed directly, these Great Ancient Emperors were acutely aware of Pei Xuanjing's terror.
The reason these Great Ancient Emperors initially refrained from their usual life-or-death battles upon meeting was due to the dread of Pei Xuanjing. They did not want to give this emerging mysterious power an opportunity.
Now, at least the other side had shown goodwill, making it clear to these Great Ancient Emperors that perhaps the situation was not as bad as they had imagined.
