Chapter 1249: Chapters 1198-1199: Reincarnation God-Devil, Reincarnation Stone Chapter 1249: Chapters 1198-1199: Reincarnation God-Devil, Reincarnation Stone Pei Xuanjing didn't speak; instead, he continued to listen as the Witch God Zhu Jiuyin went on.
Reincarnation God-Devil was the overlord among the many ancient demons and gods, as well as an extremely mysterious figure. His mystique matched that of the initial Destiny God-Devil and Time God-Devil.
Whether he truly mastered the Laws of Reincarnation, no god or devil knew for sure. All anyone knew was that he persuaded many gods and devils to agree on a plan, which they implemented and ultimately succeeded in.
“According to the agreement at the time,” numerous gods and devils collected divine iron of ancient times and gave it to the Reincarnation God-Devil for Refining, creating a Divine Object: Reincarnation Nether Iron. Later on, many gods and devils worked together, adding to the sacrifices of the Reincarnation God-Devil himself, and forged a Divine Artifact: the Reincarnation Stone. The remaining divine iron left over from making the Reincarnation Stone became the Divine Material the human race acquired to forge the Netherworld Book.”
“So that's how it was!” Pei Xuanjing nodded slightly, realizing there were such secrets involved.
If the remaining divine iron used to make the Reincarnation Stone could forge the Netherworld Book, he wondered about the effects of the Reincarnation Stone, forged with the self-sacrifice of the Reincarnation God-Devil. He was quite curious.
“Indeed, it is by relying on the Reincarnation Stone that many gods and devils reincarnated, giving rise to our era,” said Zhu Jiuyin. “Although according to our records, only one in ten of the gods and devils who relied on the Reincarnation Stone came back, there's no doubt that the original plan was a success.”
While Zhu Jiuyin said this, his eyes held a touch of melancholy. Times had changed, and the once-thriving era of gods and devils had faded away.
“At the final moment of every race, there will always be wise beings born who selflessly sacrifice themselves in search of hope for their people,” Pei Xuanjing remarked with a slight sense of emotion.
“The Reincarnation God-Devil, has he not returned after becoming the Reincarnation Stone?” Wu Shijiu, now a Witch God, also asked with some curiosity.
Though he had certified as a True Immortal and was born into the Witch Deity Teaching, he hadn't fully returned, which put him in an awkward position. As this was his first time hearing such secrets, he was naturally curious.
“He has not returned!” replied the Witch God Houtu, whose face reflected a compassionate expression, softly shaking her head.
As she spoke, she gently raised her right hand, revealing a magical treasure as large as a mountain in her palm.
Although the Reincarnation Stone had 'stone' in its name, it was, in reality, enormous, nearly comparable to a mountain. The Reincarnation Stone before them had been shrunk countless times.
“According to what was originally said, the Reincarnation God-Devil was supposed to awaken in this era as well, but he has not revived even after the Enthroning Gods had ended,” the Witch God Houtu explained, showing them the silent Reincarnation Stone. “This Reincarnation Stone has remained in my hands, yet to show any signs of awakening.”
The Reincarnation God-Devil had made a selfless contribution for the sake of many gods and devils, but he also left a contingency for himself, entrusting the Reincarnation Stone in the hands of Houtu, who had once been an ancient demon and god but was now the Witch God Houtu, in hopes that it could summon him back upon his return.
“So, what do you plan to do?” Pei Xuanjing asked indifferently, neither accepting nor rejecting their words.
In their descriptions, the Reincarnation God-Devil appeared to be a being who selflessly sacrificed everything for the sake of many gods and devils, and Pei Xuanjing respected that.
But that was it. After all, he was not part of the innate gods and devils and could not fully empathize.
He was more interested in knowing how these beings planned to act and how they intended to summon back the Reincarnation God-Devil.
“Open the Yin Department and forge Reincarnation,” declared the Witch God Houtu and the Witch God Sect Leader after exchanging glances.
This was the true reason for their visit today: to forge Reincarnation and, with its power, guide the return of the Reincarnation God-Devil.
Of course, this was only a part of the reason. More importantly, it was about finding a path for the Witch God lineage.
As one of the Six Imperials of the Heavenly Court, her authority included not just overseeing the transformation of mountains and lands, along with the various Mountain Gods and local deities as well as the Three Mountains and Five Peaks, but also extended to the Netherworld.
Without the existence of the Netherworld, her authority was incomplete, fragmented–a fact that would greatly affect the future development of this Imperial Honor.
As the gods emerged, the distribution of authority between heaven and earth was limited, yet the number of divine spirits was growing. If one did not seize their authority, it meant losing it.
The Netherworld authority was part of what she held, but it wasn't exclusive to her. According to the division of authority on the Gods Sealing List, there were quite a few divine beings qualified to wield the Netherworld Authority, each of whom was far from weak.
Whether it was the leading figure of Five Peaks, Great Emperor Taishan of the Eastern Peak representing benevolence and righteousness, or Emperor Green Jade of the East Pole and Central Heaven North Pole Emperor Ziwei, who were also part of the Six Imperials–all three had some control over the Netherworld Authority.
The two Great Emperors were her peers and needed no explanation. However, despite being nominally under her command, Emperor Dongyue of the Five Peaks was in essence an Emperor Monarch in his own right. Should he take hold of the Netherworld Authority, he would be elevated to a level equal to her own.
If it had merely been about following the Immortal Path, then perhaps it wouldn't matter, but having ascended to the Imperial Honorable Positions, it meant that one's claim to Divine Tao authority was indispensable. The Honored God Houtu naturally would not relinquish her authority, especially at a time when all gods were solidifying their power and expanding their dominion.
