Yan Li's eyes darkened as he cast a glance at the purpling swell on Xue Zhan's face, and asked in a tone ever so cold, “What happened, Xue Zhan? Who did this to you?”

They literally just met each other two days ago, yet Yan Li had already considered Xue Zhan his close friend from the moment he came back for him after their encounter with the thorn-bush leopard in the testing forest.

Yan Li wasn't a big fan of causing any trouble, but he would never just sit back and watch when something like this happened to his friend; otherwise he'd be nothing more than a coward.

Xue Zhan forced a smile and murmured, “I'm okay, Shixiong Yan. I just fell down and scraped myself.”

Yan Li just stared at him calmly without saying anything, and the latter finally couldn't hold any longer but gave in, eyes burning with anger and humility.

The person who hit him had connections with some indoor disciple that was not to be messed with, so there was nothing they could do to make the situation any better. Besides, he was certain that Yan Li would most definitely stand up for him if he learned about the truth, but those people were Yuan realm martial artists. Would Yan Li be qualified to take on them? He didn't want Yan Li, his best friend now, to get hurt because of this.

“If Shixiong Xue doesn't want to say anything, then I'll do!” Lin Wen blurted all of sudden, “It was Ye Yun who hit Shixiong Xue, along with another in-door disciple named Ye Tianyu.”

Yan Li was confused, since they were all rookies here and Xue Zhan being the opposite of a trouble-maker, how would he ever get on the nerve of some indoor disciple?

“Enough, Lin Wu!” Xue Zhan snapped, “Do you want Shixiong Yan to end up like me, too?”

“I have to say something! I can't just sit here and watch you get bullied! I mean, they have no right to throw their weight around like that!” Lin Wu retorted furiously.

Lin Wen also echoed, “That's right! We have to make them pay!”

“Make them pay? How? They've already reached the Yuan realm!” Xue Zhan said through tightly gritted teeth, so much so as if to break his jaw as the scene of him being stepped on the face by Ye Tianyu once again flashed through his mind.

Now Yan Li could finally see what was behind his bitter smile. Feeling touched, he walked up beside Xue Zhan and gave him a little pat on the back, eyes shining brightly, “Xue Zhan, I want you to remember that, no matter how powerful your enemy is, you can still crush him if you keep getting stronger and stronger every day!”

“I can crush him if I keep getting stronger and stronger every day!” After repeating the line several times to himself, Xue Zhan looked up at Yan Li and, with a solemn expression, promised, “I appreciate that, Shixiong Yan! I will get stronger and I won't back up no matter how powerful the enemy is!”

“Atta boy! That's the Xue Zhan I know!” Yan Li was glad to see Xue Zhan's reaction, for some people rose above defeats, while others just lay down, rolled over and died; clearly, Xue Zhan was of the first kind.

“Now tell me what really happened!”

This time, without hesitation, Xue Zhan began, “This is what happened, Shixiong Yan…...”

Earlier today, the five of him went to the Classic Pavilion to transcribe some guides for martial methods and techniques, because every outdoor disciple was allowed to select two guides for themselves, one for methods and the other for Huang-level techniques. They hung out there for four hours and all had their favorite guides picked out; however, upon leaving the Pavilion, they got stopped by a group of guys headed by Ye Yuan, who robbed them of the creatures' cores last time in the testing forest. Along with him was a handsome-looking young man who was a few years senior than them and, judging by his attire, an in-door disciple. Seeing this, Xue Zhan and others' expressions altered gravely.

With an indoor disciple present, Ye Yun demanded arrogantly that they tell him Yan Li's whereabouts, or else they'd be asking for trouble.

Of course, Xue Zhan and others wouldn't do so, Ye Yun, not pleased with their defiance, decided to teach them a lesson with his fists. What completely caught him off guard was that it actually went the other way around as he, who had already reached the completion stage of the Lianqi realm, was beaten up and sent flying by Xue Zhan. That was when the indoor disciple decided to step in. He teleported himself in front of Xue Zhan and knocked him out with one hard blow before stepping on his face, demanding again that he tell them where Yan Li was.

Lin Wen, Lin Wu and the girls wanted to help, but were held back by Ye Yun's little helpers, and could only watch in vain as Xue Zhan, who still refused to say anything, was repeatedly hit in the face by Ye Yun. It was a despicable move actually because Dahuang Palace didn't prevent disciples from fighting each other, and as long as no permanent damage was done, the enforcers would just let it slide.

The look on Yan Li's face was icy cold after Xue Zhan finished talking. Ye Yun and Ye Tianyu had really crossed the line there, especially with the fact that the latter, a Yuan realm disciple, would bother to throw his fist at Xue Zhan, a level-nine Lianqi realm disciple, which was beyond disgraceful.

“You have to be careful, Shixiong Yan, since you're the one Ye Yuan is targeting at.” Xue Zhan reminded him.

Yan Li replied in a deep voice, “It's fine! I'll go meet him personally since he wants to get back at me!”

“Wait, Shixiong Yan! He's got Ye Tianyu behind him, so why don't we all just calm down first and then go get him after we reach the Yuan realm!” Xue Zhan called out.

“There's no need for that! We go get him now!”

Yan Li deadpanned as he moved towards the door, followed by Xue Zhan with Lin Wen and the others, who looked visibly stoked since Ye Yun was soon about to get a taste of his own medicine, trailing behind closely.

After getting Ye Yun's address, Yan Li went straight to his yard and yelled out, “Get the hell out, Ye Yun!”

“Bold of you to make a such loud noise outside my house!” A voice full of arrogance rang off. Then appeared Ye Yuan with his little gang of errand boys, as the former cracked a smirk at the sight of Yan Li, “What a great surprise, Yan Li! Handing yourself over? Go get him! Don't let this little shit run away!”

Yan Li snorted, expressions cold as he suddenly jumped up, luring Ye Yuan's errand boys towards him, who were then stunned by the fact that the person up there was only a phantom, while the real one already had Ye Yun in a headlock. Yan Li gave him quite a few heavy slaps to the face, distorting his good looks almost in an instant.

“Shit! How dare you, Yan Li? My brother is so going to make you pay!”

Hearing this, Yan Li's eyes went a shade darker as more slaps rained down on Ye Yun's face.

A few meters away, Xue Zhan and others watched in awe with wide eyes, feeling completely mesmerized by Yan Li's move and aggressiveness. Ye Yuan's errand boys, on the other hand, were frozen to their feet as they watch their Young Master again being tossed around by Yan Li.

“Yan Li, you douchebag! I'll kill you!” Ye Yun threatened.

But Yan Li just shut him up with yet a couple more slaps before waving Xue Zhan over, “Go ahead! Hit him as hard as how he hit you!”

“Got it!”

Xue Zhan replied in visible excitement, and started dropping punches at Ye Yun, yelling, “Surprise, surprise, Ye Yun! Bet you didn't expect karma would bite you in the ass this fast, huh? Well, you deserve this, you lion-skin-wearing asshole!”
