She did not understand why this woman would suddenly want to see her.

It was nice to live their separate lives in peace, why make a mess of it now?

"In that case, you don't need to be bothered with this. If she comes looking again, I'll help you take care of it," the old Principal said directly. She did not feel that Lin Chu was being heartless.

If one were to think from Lin Chu's point of view, it was completely understandable for her to made this decision. This was a woman she had never met before, a woman who had abandoned her when she was just a baby. Now she was suddenly making an appearance, anyone in Lin Chu's shoes would be unhappy in this situation. It was good enough that no one scolded her!

What if she had died out there on the day she was abandoned?

She was so little, just a fragile baby. How could this woman be so heartless?! Could this be forgiven over a simple explanation of she was a young girl then and had no choice?

The old Principal felt that the woman was too thick-skinned to come looking for her!

What exactly was her intention for showing up?!

She was not here when Lin Chu was suffering and now that Lin Chu was having a better life, she suddenly appeared. It was difficult not to second guess her intentions.

Even though Lin Chu had finally overcome her troubles, but without her life in the orphanage, she would not have gotten to know Yan Beicheng and be in a relationship with him.

Everything happened for a reason.

However, no matter how much one was blessed, it could never compare to being by a mother's side.

"I'll have to trouble you with this. You're already at such an age and yet I'm still troubling with matters like this," Lin Chu said guiltily.

"Silly girl, what are you talking about? This is nothing," the old Principal replied gently.

After she hung up, Lin Chu turned to see Yan Beicheng standing next to the car through the side mirror. His hand was in his pocket while the other was holding on to the phone. His straight back was facing her, and it was good-looking.

His suit was tailor-made to fit him perfectly. It enhanced his best traits showing off his height and slenderness. One could tell this was a good-looking man just from the view of his back. Lin Chu noticed the young women passing by stole looks at Yan Beicheng. Some daring ones loitered nearby, waiting for Yan Beicheng to finish his call so they could come up to him.

Yan Beicheng gave them nonchalant glances and turned away without a word. He caught Lin Chu looking at him intently through the car window.

Yan Beicheng's gaze turned gentle. When he turned toward her, it was like the clouds had cleared away for the sun. Lin Chu look at him, mesmerized.

Yan Beicheng might have been on the phone, but it did not hinder him from looking at Lin Chu. She looked dazed, but it was because she was watching him.

His male ego was filled up with her admiring gaze and he immediately forgot about the other admiring looks surrounding him. As he continued talking on the phone, he walked around the car and got into it.

The dark tint on the car blocked the views of the others. He did not notice the disappointed looks of the other girls outside the car.

Lin Chu heard him giving simple answers throughout his phone conversation. After hanging up, he turned to look at her. For some reason, there were some mixed looks in his eyes.

"What's wrong?" Lin Chu questioned as she saw his worried look.

Yan Beicheng's thick eyebrows were furrowing. He did not know where to start.

The person he hired had given him a call to say that the woman had appeared at the orphanage again. He dared not go too close but he made a few rounds around the area and managed to catch on roughly to the conversation between Dai Huimin and the old Principal.

He did not know the name of Dai Huimin and wanted to follow her when she left. He did not expect to bump into Lu Weining. Dai Huimin had even got into Lu Weining's car.

In the end, he followed Lu Weining to a private club owned by Xing Chuang.

They have not come out from the club yet, and since he was still waiting, he took the opportunity to report the matter to Yan Beicheng. He planned to continue following her once they came out and investigate Dai Huimin's identity.

"Don't look at me without saying a word, I'm starting to feel anxious by that look on your face," Lin Chu shook his hand and said the words coquettishly like she was a little girl.

Although the year had just passed and she had turned 25, she will always be that little girl to him. She was his girl.

He did not want her to be so anxious, but at the same time, he did not want her to be troubled over this matter as well.

Yan Beicheng raised his long, slender fingers and gently pinched between his forehead. He suddenly pulled her into his arms, afraid that the news would make her unhappy. He thought to hug her first. If she was upset about it, he could still protect her this way.

"Remember that woman in front of the orphanage during Ningbai's birthday? I told you I would send someone to stake out the orphanage. He was the one that called me just now. The woman was there today," Yan Beicheng said as he carefully observed Lin Chu's reaction. His arms were around her. One of his hands was gently massaging the back of her neck to get her to relax.

Lin Chu had not expected both of them to receive different phone calls that were about the same issue.

She now understood Yan Beicheng's reaction as being worried about her feeling upset about the news.

Lin Chu smiled, "I know."

Yan Beicheng was surprised. He had a rare, dumbfounded look on his face. Lin Chu suddenly felt much more relaxed seeing him like this.

She held his face and kissed him on the lips at the look of Yan Beicheng's dumbstruck face. It was a look that was not often seen.

Yan Beicheng took the opportunity to pull her closer on the waist. It was not the time for him to prolong the kiss, but he did not want her to leave his arms so soon.

"The old Principal just gave me a call about this. The lady passed her contact number to the old Principal together with her name. She's called Dai Huimin. She claimed she just wants to see me and has no plans on acknowledging me as a daughter and not taking advantage of me," said Lin Chu.

Yan Beicheng was suspicious with her claims but did not say much, all he did was asked, "Do you want to meet her?"

Lin Chu shook her head, "No, I don't. Even though she claimed to want nothing, but we don't know her well. Who knows what is going through her mind? Even if she did think that and wants nothing from me and just wants to see me, but maybe, just maybe, she has other intentions. Otherwise, why didn't she come looking for me before and chose this timing instead?"

"That is why I don't want to meet her. We'll just treat each other as strangers. I don't feel anything for her. Even if she had come looking for me before I met you, I won't see her either. I'm not mad at her for abandoning me. If she didn't abandon me, I would not have gone through what I did, which means that I would never have met you. I think there's nothing more wonderful than being able to meet you. Meeting you and being with you, makes all my suffering worth it."

"This is why I don't harbor any hate or grudge against her. Of course, I'm not thankful that she abandoned me. She's just a stranger to me that I have no feelings for. If that is the case, what's the point in meeting her? It would just create unnecessary trouble and chaos which will disrupt our lives," Lin Chu said as she continuously tugged on the shirt button inside Yan Beicheng's suit.

This man has had the gentlemen's education since he was young. If he wore a suit, it was his habit to release the coat's button whenever he took a seat. When he stood up, he would rebutton the coat. Doing it countless times, this had turned into a habit so natural and swift for his fingers.

Previously, Lin Chu had never noticed this detail about him. She was surrounded by colleagues and clients who did not have this habit. They were, after all, Chinese. It was not within their job scope to put on suits and they did not have this habit. She observed this habit on Yan Beicheng and realized that the English gentlemen in the English movies had the same actions. This made her paid more attention to Yan Beicheng's habit and she thought that every time he did it, it looked especially elegant.

"Do you think I'm heartless and hateful?" Lin Chu stole a look at Yan Beicheng.

She could never hide anything from him. She would always tell him whatever she thought. She did not want to pretend to be someone else in front of him. Even if she did, she could only pretend for a moment, and not forever. It was better for him to know her true self now, rather than him hating her in the future.

But now, she still cared very much about what he thought.

Yan Beicheng could not help but laughed as he held on to her tighter. He kissed her on the lips, and said, "No, I don't. I'm going to support your decision. If you decide to acknowledge her, I'll support you too. But I do prefer your current decision."

It was better than getting into trouble with Dai Huimin. If there were no emotional ties between them, why force themselves to be a family.

The tie between them had been cut off the moment Dai Huimin decided to abandon her.

"I don't even call my mother 'mum' and refer to her as just 'Miss Jiang'. There are no mother and son ties between us. Do you think I'm cold and unemotional?" Yan Beicheng raised an eyebrow as he asked.

Lin Chu shook her head without hesitating, "Of course not."

"Which is why I won't see you that way as well. We were meant to be a pair. You were abandoned by your mother and so was I. That might be why fate had brought us together," Yan Beicheng gave her a light pinch on the waist and said jokingly.

His long, slender fingers pinched her soft, snow-white wrist. His index finger slowly sliding down her wrist, "There might be an invisible red string tied on both our wrists [TN: Chinese lore states that soulmates have a piece of red string tied between them by the Gods]."

Lin Chu lowered her gaze to look at her wrist, she could almost see that invisible string. After learning about Dai Huimin's news, her gloomy feeling completely evaporated.

But when she heard him making fun of himself, there was a slight pinch in her heart. She imitated his actions and drew an invisible circle on his wrist with her finger. She could not feel his pulse as she had only gently touched him, but it was almost like Lin Chu could feel it beating.

"That's true. But you have the love of the two elders, and I have the love of the old Principal. That's our similarity," Lin Chu's fingers gently pressed on the jumping pulse on his wrist.

Yan Beicheng flipped his hands over and held on gently to her wrist. He kissed her lightly on all five fingers and his lips glided down from her soft fingers to her joints until he was kissing the pulse on her wrist.

Lin Chu felt the wetness from her fingers to her wrists. They were like cotton candy dipped in water, falling gently onto her skin.

Lin Chu could not help but look at him. Yan Beicheng's burning, thin lips were on the green vein of her wrists. He was gently nuzzling it as if he could feel the pulsing veins from her heart.

He looked down slightly, his long, curly eyelashes gently covering the dark look in his eyes. The light in his dark, soulful eyes was also slightly hidden, but some of it escaped through those thin, silky gaps of his thick eyelashes.

He had a perfect, sharp nose, which touched her wrists as well, burning it with his lips. His breath spread all over the skin of her wrists, gently heating them like an iron scalding it.

Lin Chu felt weak as she laid in his arms, trembling.

He kissed her delicately on her wrists. She watched quietly as she drew a mental picture of the side of his face in her head. It was like a work of art, it looked good from every angle.

The sun shone in from behind her. Part of her blocked some of the sunlight, the remaining rays shone on his face as the light and shadow intertwined. His handsome face was covered with mingling lights and shadows, a golden circle formed on his eyelashes. He looked so delicious.

Yan Beicheng lifted his head slightly as if he had noticed her stares. His lips fell on her wrists as his handsome eyes smiled like rays of sunshine. His dark eyes curved into a dark moon as his lips curved upwards.

The face of beauty does delay important work.

Lin Chu was so seduced by his manly charms that she had forgotten where they were and she could not help smiling along with him.

She was so immersed in this serene atmosphere with Yan Beicheng when suddenly, they were surprised with someone knocking on the car window.

Lin Chu turned in surprise and saw a magnified face sticking close on to the car window.

Lin Chu immediately felt embarrassed and poked Yan Beicheng on his sturdy lower abdomen. Yan Beicheng was deeply annoyed with the person outside who had disrupted the atmosphere.

He had no choice but to carry Lin Chu back to her seat and rolled down his car windows. A traffic police was standing outside with a pen and traffic ticket book in his hands, "You aren't allowed to park here."

Yan Beicheng nodded slightly, "We'll leave right now."

The traffic police did not give them a ticket and Yan Beicheng drove off.

Lin Chu's face was still red. Even though the car was heavily tinted, she was not entirely sure if the traffic police had seen anything when he was sticking his face close to the window.

It was lucky the two of them were just hugging each other and did nothing indecent.

As Lin Chu's face was still burning, she suddenly heard Yan Beicheng said, "The person I hired said that when Dai Huimin left, she was stopped by Lu Weining. She was taken by Lu Weining to a private club under Xing Chuang. I'm guessing that Dai Huimin must have revealed some things to Lu Weining. I will send someone to find out Dai Huimin's situation. No matter if you'd like to meet her or not, it would be best if we can learn more about her."

Yan Beicheng was doing this for her sake. This man was thoughtful and considered many aspects that even she had not given a thought about.

Since Yan Beicheng said it, Lin Chu did not object. If Yan Beicheng had said so, he should be right about his decision.

So, all she did was replied, "Okay."

This was entirely like a dainty wife obeying everything her man said. She had agreed so readily without even questioning him with a 'why'. Yan Beicheng was very delighted at the way she reacted.

He could not help but smiled and reached over to pinch Lin Chu on the face. He did not give it a hard pinch and it was not painful, but it still left a slight red mark on her face.

Lin Chu glared at him and rubbed her face gently, "Stop it."

As she said it, she pulled down the mirror in front of her, "We're about to reach the old mansion. If the mark is still there, grandpa and grandma might think you have done something to me."

Just as she finished her words, the car stopped outside the old mansion.

Yan Beicheng turned to look. The mark was still visible. He did not say anything but immediately reached over to her face and gave the mark a light kiss. His soft lips carefully outlined the shape of the red mark.

His actions caused Lin Chu to go completely red in the face. It was now the same shade as the mark and the mark did vanish into a similar color.

Yan Beicheng pulled down the mirror proudly to show Lin Chu, "Take a look. My kiss made it better, didn't it?"

He reached over to kiss her again after saying that.

Lin Chu could not see him kissing her previously, but now with the mirror in front of her, she saw him gave her a big, smacking kiss on her face. Even though it was just an innocent kiss, she still became fl.u.s.tered at the soft, wet sensation on her face.

Looking at her tender face blushing red, the light fragrance of her face slightly thickened too. Yan Beicheng did not want to leave the car.

His warm hands slowly rubbed against her waist and as Lin Chu's face turned redder, he called out involuntarily, "Chu Chu."

Lin Chu was surprised by him and her face burned wilder. He had never called her that since they were together.

The way he had called out was slightly hoarse, as he pulled on the tone of his voice. He sounded so coquettish that made Lin Chu go weak in her knees.

"Stop… Stop playing around! We're at the gate!" Lin Chu said. This may be a high-end residential area, but many neighbors would come out for their walks.

Yan Beicheng ignored her and reached out toward her. There was a faint, pine fresh fragrance on him. His face buried into her slender shoulders.

As Lin Chu was skinny, it was not comfortable to lay on her shoulders as one could feel her bones.

But her waist was soft, her neck was also soft and smelled good too. Yan Beicheng started to feel that her shoulders were so skinny that he ached for her. She was so adorable.

He rubbed his face against her shoulder and moved to her neck, burying his face into it as he kissed her on the neck. The kisses tickled Lin Chu as her face turned redder as she tried her best to hide away from him.

"Get up quickly. I'd like to go in with a normal-looking face. The redness on my face won't subside if you continue fooling around this way," Lin Chu did not know whether to laugh or cry. She could only try to push his face away from her.

Yan Beicheng felt like cold water was poured over him at her tone. He looked at her in grief. Lin Chu did not seem to notice. She was busy tidying her hair and fanning her face.

Yan Beicheng clenched his teeth and immediately grabbed her into his arms and kiss her viciously. Every part of her mouth felt numb. 

When he finally let her go, Lin Chu was completely breathless. She was breathing heavily through her mouth and nose and did not have the time to glare at him. Her brain had already gone blank at what happened, and she could not think at all.

When she had finally came to her senses, she was already pulled out of the car by Yan Beicheng and standing at the entrance of the old mansion.

Lin Chu lifted her hand to stop him, but Yan Beicheng had rung the doorbell.

Lin Chu could only clench her teeth as she secretly dug into his waist. It was not painful, but it felt ticklish.

"Be a good girl. Give me some face, I'm outside right now," Yan Beicheng wrapped his hands around her naughty hands and pulled to her back while taking the opportunity to wrap his arms around her waist.

Lin Chu, "…"

"I'll let you poke me after I take off all my clothes when we're home. You can poke anywhere you want," Yan Beicheng lowered his head and nibbled her ear as he said so.

Lin Chu, "…"

"You shouldn't be fooling around like that outside. It's going to hurt your image," Lin Chu glared at him sideways. He just told her to give him some face, did he not?

Yan Beicheng's expression remained steadfast as his five fingers moved from the back of her hands to between her fingers like he was holding her from behind while crossing their fingers. He held on to her palms, which were on her waist and used his fingers to press on her waist, lightly pinching it.

Lin Chu's hands were pressed under his palm and her arms were across her back. She had no way of getting away from him.

"This doesn't affect anything," Yan Beicheng said as if there was nothing wrong.
