After an evening of cultivation and rest, Alex was informed by his puppets that the Barbarian army was about to reach the border of the Forest in another half an hour.
Alex immediately switched with a puppet sentry who was on the lookout for the enemy inside the Forest.
Alex then found himself standing behind a trunk of a large tree; he immediately used his bloodline ability to hide and scan the nearby area for any threat. In five hundred meters, there was nothing but a few nocturnal animals.
When his spiritual sense covered the area of one kilometer in each direction, he finally found a large group of five hundred barbarians entering the coverage area of his spiritual sense from the south direction and slowly making their way towards him or specifically to make their way out of the Forest.
Alex once again increased the coverage area but he focused all his spiritual sense to only scan forest in the south, southwest, and southeast directions.
"509, 310, 1522, 653, and 435. A total of 3429 Barbarians warriors were divided into five different groups. Plus, there are two hundred and twenty-six demon beasts with strength in the upper end of the Rank 1 spectrum. There are only two Rank 2 Demon beasts." Alex quickly counted the size of the Barbarian army, composition, and positioning.
He quickly passed on the detail to his puppets, who would use it to plan counterattack strategies and verify if they have enough elites and powerhouses to defeat or push back the Barbarians.
"My Lord, we have the upper hand but not by much. There will be numerous casualties on our side if we go to war. I suggest transferring Kerchak, the Four-Armed Silverback Gorilla or other Demon Beasts behind the enemy lines to take the Barbarians by surprise." Pero, the Early-stage Dantian Formation Stage Puppet suggested.
"They are not available. Kerchak has to stay on the SeShell Island as insurance against that Sea Crab and I can't bring Godzilla here as she is currently in Elver City. It would be too high profile. Anyway, let's wait for pirate Mary Reed and the soldiers escorting her from Hemforth city. The barbarians wouldn't attack until tomorrow morning without getting to know our strength and numbers." Alex replied.
Even though Alex had confidence in his own strength to win the war against the barbarians, he didn't want to lose too many puppets or his soldiers to them.
'Alex, you can still find more powerful demon beasts and tame them to fight the barbarians.' Just when Alex was trying to find a solution to strengthen his army, the Heavenly Spirit voice timely sounded in his mind.
'With the strength of your spiritual sense and soul power, you should be able to handle making contracts with at least a hundred Rank 1 Demon beast, thirty Rank 2 Demon beast, or a few Demon Beasts of Rank 3 order, that is if you can find them.' The heavenly spirit suggested.
"Yeah, you are probably right," Alex said as he looked towards the Caragan Forest that housed the largest number of Demon Beast on this continent.
He could definitely try taming a few powerful Demon Beasts tonight and use them to fight the Barbarians.
Now that he had a solution, Alex immediately decided to implement it. He stealthily bypassed the barbarian army and rushed deeper into the Caragan Forest.
Just after venturing a mile into the Forest, Alex found the location of around 150 Rank 1 Demon Beasts. But he didn't move them because their strength was still in the lower and the middle grade of Rank 1. They were not his target.
Alex continuously scanned his surroundings as he moved deeper into the Forest. Finally, after running another two miles, Alex found a Demon Beast that seemed to be at the peak of Rank 2 order. It was a giant wolf with green, white fur. And since wolves are creatures that roam in packs, Alex found some fifty wolves in the vicinity with varying strength.
The giant wolf was sleeping in the middle of the pack on a raised flat rock. As for the others, they were either sleeping, eating, or were in the middle of mating, but they made sure not to disturb the alpha of their pack and created a large enough space in between.
With a flash, Alex's figure arrived at the center of all the wolves. Before the peak order Rank 2 Demon Wolf could wake up and react, Alex placed his hands on its head and sent his spiritual sense to contact its soul and form a bond.
This action of Alex caused the eyes of the giant wolf to fly open.
The Green wolf was dumbfounded at first when he found a foreign spiritual power trying to invade his brain, but before he could think of expelling it and eating the human bastard in front of him, the foreign spiritual power made contact with his soul.
Boom!
The green eyes of the Giant wolf immediately widened in shock because he sensed what kind of power that human possessed, and it made him shiver in fright.
Though the wolf king could still expel the spiritual power inside his body and deny forming such an abrupt bond with an unknown human, the beast felt an incomparable need and coercion from his bloodline and soul to bond with the human.
And that is what the wolf did; he immediately stopped blocking the foreign spiritual sense and instead made an effort to open his soul to the Divine-human.
After successfully forming a bond with the human, the giant wolf's body shivered in joy. He stood up on his four legs and let out a howl to express his excitement. The beast waged its tail and lowered his head, rubbing it against the body of his master.
The rest of the wolves jumped to their feet when they first heard the howl of their leader. When they saw the human, the whole pack growled as if threatening the intruder to get away from their leader.
Alex couldn't help but smile after seeing this. For him, it was too easy to tame Demon Beasts and Spirit Beasts, and it was all thanks to his bloodline.. He just needed to let his spiritual power come in contact directly with the soul of the demon beast or lure them with the scent from his blood.
