The Otherworldly Adventures of a Super Naive Girl Chapter 87

“Look! Over there! It’s Seniors Ming Xi and Tian Ya! Senior Ming Xi really is the most beautiful person in the world!” swooned one of the girls in the cafeteria.

“Senior Tian Ya, Senior Tian Ya is also amazing!” said another girl. “No one else has gotten as close to sword mastery as he has in the last hundred years! He’s nearly to the god level. So amazing!”

“Senior Ming Xi is class rep for the 5th years. Senior Tian Ya is class rep for the 6th years. Both are incredibly powerful. They look amazing together, don’t they?” This comment gave rise to more fan-girling shrieks from the crowd.

All the crazy screaming made Ink look up from his bowl. Seeing the two beauties made him sigh mentally. They were all people from the same class, yet somehow the treatment each received was completely different. Ink wondered if it was because he wasn’t class president.

After all the horrible screeching died down, someone went to Ming Xi and offered something to him. The girl’s silhouette looked familiar to Ink. Wait! What the fuck?! Wasn’t that Feng Wu?

Indeed it was! Her eyes sparkled brightly the moment she saw Ming Xi. She had reached for her letter and walked over to hand it to him, completely ignoring his apparent popularity with all the girls. She intended to confess!

“Ming Xi, please accept this.” She imitated the other girl she saw earlier and held the letter out in both hands with a completely earnest expression on her face.

Ming Xi recognized Feng Wu as the girl who proposed to him at the spring. He was momentarily unsure what to do. Hadn’t he been crystal clear that day? He thought she accepted the refusal and had moved on. Apparently ordinary assumptions didn’t work on her.

This girl, in front of such a large crowd, did she not feel any sense of embarrassment? He couldn’t reject it in front of so many people, but at the same time he didn’t want to accept it either.

In the end he had no choice but to accept it. The crowd went wild. Screams erupted left and right. Luckily Ming Xi was used to it so he easily tuned it out. But why was she still standing in front of him? Wasn’t she supposed to run away out of shyness after he accepted her letter?

Run away out of shyness? Ming Xi was overthinking things. Feng Wu’s face didn’t show a single hint of shyness or embarrassment. One had to wonder if she even understood the two words.

“Is there something else?” Ming Xi couldn’t understand why she was still there. His gentle smile stiffened.

It was clear from Feng Wu’s posture; she didn’t intend to leave anytime soon. “You haven’t read it yet.”

Read the love letter in front of you? Ming Xi wondered if it had been a mistake to accept the letter. But since he had, what else could he do?

Stuck, he unfolded the letter. It was dramatically different from the usual letters he received. Other girls used scented paper and delicate cute pink envelopes. This love letter, judging from the tell-tale jagged circular notches on the side, was clearly torn from a regular spiral bound notebook. There was no envelope to open even. It was just a single sheet of notebook paper folded once over. There was something wrong with this picture. To say it was a proper letter was…. generous.

It was indeed the most unique love letter he’d received. He looked at the bullet point presentation.

The first line: Senior Ming Xi.

The second line: We met at the hot spring.

The third line: You remind me of my master. Please by my baby’s father.

The fourth line: Marry me.

The fifth line: Feng Wu

This… this was a love letter? Ming Xi felt pained reading it. There was no grace or substance. It was the strangest love letter he had ever received.

“You have not replied.” Feng Wu’s eyes shined brightly. She had written a love letter. It should be enough to show restraint and shyness right? Senior Ming Xi would definitely respond to her now.

“I’m sorry, but I can not accept your feelings.” Ming Xi hated to hurt her feelings, especially in front of so many people. But her persistent sincerity was hard to deal with. He didn’t know of any way to answer honestly, yet still be kind.

Even though it was her decision to ask him so bluntly and in front of so many, Ming Xi still couldn’t help but feel bad.

He expected her to be heartbroken and to break down in tears. All the students and cafeteria workers thought she would run away crying. But no… apparently that was not the dramatic exit they were going to witness.

Instead Feng Wu just said, “Oh,” in a collected and calm voice. There was no sadness on her face and certainly no tears in her eyes as she turned and walked away. (Shouldn’t cry, shouldn’t be sad.)

You could hear a pin drop; it was so quiet. The same thoughts ran through nearly everyone’s mind: Girl, did you really come here to confess or were you just messing around?

Ink’s chin nearly fell to the ground. When he came back to his senses he chased after her, quick as the wind. He couldn’t let this simple little sister do any more crazy things!

“Xiao Wu! Wait!” Ink had run like crazy to catch up to her. He put a hand on her shoulder to stop her. “Xiao Wu, it’s OK. Don’t be sad. Even if Senior Ming Xi didn’t accept you, there are lot of other guys around. Don’t cry OK?!”

He gave his reasoning, intending to comfort her, before even seeing the expression on her face.

Feng Wu turned around. “I’m not crying.” She didn’t want him to think she was the kind of girl that cried.

Master said only the weak cried. As Master’s disciple, she was a strong person. Of course she wouldn’t cry.

(Eh?! Yeah. She isn’t crying. Her eyes aren’t even red.) The words of comfort completely dried up in Ink’s mouth.

“I wrote the love letter like you said. I was vague and I gave a confession. How come Senior Ming Xi still rejected me?” Doubt filled her voice, expressing her confusion. Why did Ming Xi reject her even though she did exactly as Ink said? She couldn’t understand so she asked the boy in front of her.

“How did you write the letter?” He had been curious from the start. Earlier in the cafeteria he saw that the letter was written on plain notebook paper. It struck him as incredibly frugal and simple.

“Here.” Feng Wu handed the letter over without any regard to her own privacy.

“Is it really OK for me to look at it?” Even though Ink said this, his hand had already snatched the letter up. He opened it and began reading. It was a short read.

(What is this?! This isn’t a love letter! Who in the world would accept this?!) He gained a new perspective. He didn’t feel it was odd at all that Ming Xi rejected her.
