Qianxi unexpectedly found Xu Jimo in the hallway.

He was coming right towards her and there was no place for her to hide. This time she couldn’t think of an excuse.

She was on the phone with the someone who wouldn’t stop talking, “Ms. Ye, our company is sincerely inviting you to work as our regular hostess. We’ll pull our resources together to present you; you will be treated even better than Xiaoyue. For the signing bonus, we can pay up to……”

She didn’t really catch the figure; all her attention shifted onto the man who appeared at the other end of the hallway.

What to do, what to do? He was coming closer…...was there no side corridor she could go down?

Ahhh, he suddenly slowed down. He must have seen her!

If she had known earlier, she would have stayed in the room for a while longer. How could she know that he would come this way…...She made a huge miscalculation!

The person in the phone was still talking, “Ms. Ye, Ms. Ye, are you listening?”

“En. Yes.”

…...He was coming closer.

Should she smile? How high should she curl her lips up?

It seemed that she had smiled too brightly…..hum.

“Ms. Ye, won’t you consider it?”

“En? What did you just say?”

The other side was taken back, but he quickly calmed himself, “Our signing bonus is the highest in the market now. You can do some research and get back to us later.”

“It’s not necessary…...Thank you.”

He was right in front of her……

Xu Jimo bent over and whispered, “Are you busy?”

Qianxi immediately cleared her throat, using the coolest voice she could muster to speak to the phone, “Manager Wang, I have something I have to take care now. I have to go. Bye bye.”

“I’m not busy now.” She blinked innocently.

“Then go eat earlier.” He straightened up, ready to leave after he finished.

What? He stopped by just to tell her to go eat?

They hadn’t talked at all for a few days and he was going to leave after just those words when finally seeing her……

Qianxi struggled with a mix of feelings. Without thinking, she grabbed his hand. Xu Jimo paused, turning around to look at the hand on his wrist.

She grabbed tightly; the tips of her fingers were turning pink while her knuckles were slightly white. She stiffly loosened the grip and tried to pull her fingers back, unconsciously she began caressing his arm.

The soft touching transmitted subtle feelings of attachment, hesitation, and uneasiness.

“What are you trying to do?” He caught her mischievous hand.

Qianxi felt like a thief being caught red-handed, letting him hold her hand in his right in front of her as if it was the evidence of her crime. “I wasn’t doing anything……” Her voice wasn’t particularly persuasive.

Xu Jimo turned his hand to slid across her damped palm from nervousness to lace fingers with hers.

He pulled the hands downwards and firmly clenched her hand. Her soft, warm palm glued to his, like a melting gumdrop.

He laughed, “You like to talk tough, but your hand is very soft.”

Qianxi tried to pull back without success. She blushed, “You……” He crossed the line.  A foul!  Foul!

She couldn’t think clearly when her phone suddenly began to ring again.

Why did she have so many phone calls when she finally got to see him?

Qianxi unwillingly took a look at her phone. It was from Qin Xiao, whom she didn’t feel right to overlook.

“Answer the phone.” He let go of her hand.

Qianxi answered the phone. Her hand was numb, she could hardly hold it steady. “Hello, Xiaoxiao?”

“Qianxi?”

At this moment, Xu Jimo bent over again and whispered, “I’m going?”

When she answered “En” to Qin Xiao, Xu Jimo took it as an answer to his question, waved his hand, and turned around to walk away.

Hey…...but she couldn’t call him. She listlessly continued her conversation on the phone while watching his back as it slowly walked away. “En. What is it?”

Qin Xiao was straightforward. “I heard the people from V is talking with you about signing you on?”

“You’re well informed……” She had just got the phone call. “Don’t worry. I turned it down.”

“I certainly know that you won’t accept it.” Qin Xiao burst out laughing. “They should do more research about your background. If you really want to do it, come to my place. Don’t let my enemy take the advantage of you!”
