Chapter 991 QC300, project approval in April!
In fact, from the very beginning, there were no regulations saying that naval gas turbines must go through a bidding process, then model selection, and finally the winner will be decided among the two models.
It's just a coincidence that I now have two suitable gas turbine models on hand.
QC300 obviously has stronger performance and development potential.
However, the localization of GT25000 has been promoted for almost ten years and has consumed a lot of manpower and material resources, so it cannot be just thrown away casually.
If we put it in developed countries, this is actually not a problem.
But China does not have a large enough market to accommodate two competing products at the same time—
Civilian ships do not require quietness and quick start, and expensive gas turbines are rarely chosen for power.
And until sufficiently reliable and low-cost sources of oil and natural gas are obtained, it will be impossible to use gas turbines to replace coal-fired boilers for power generation on a large scale.
As for being used as an energy source to drive compressors or pumps in the industrial field...
The prospects are very good, but currently it can only be considered a niche use.
Therefore, everyone unanimously took aim at the destroyer's power system.
But choosing one now almost means giving up the other.
It's not just as simple as giving up a model.
It will also cause a huge blow to the technological development route behind the model.
And if these two technical lines can be retained through cooperation, it will obviously be a win-win choice.
The GT25000 is just not suitable as a ship power, and it is not really very backward.
With the development of the national economy, if the demand for industrial gas turbines increases in the future, it can still be used to its advantage due to its relatively low cost and the fact that Soviet products are generally not very picky about fuel.
And even from the perspective of the navy, retaining the gas turbine research and development capabilities of ship systems will leave more paths for the future.
Only when the number of Party B is greater than or equal to two, Party A can enjoy the pleasure of being a father.
However, Li Jiang did not reveal his intention immediately, but made a roundabout way first:
"As for specific technical issues... I think it's better to leave it to professionals to make their own decisions."
As he spoke, he glanced in the direction of Yan Zhongcheng and Wen Xueyou, paused briefly, and then continued:
"Of course, if the combination of the two technologies can really improve the final performance of the product, then we as users will definitely be happy to see the results."
"In addition, I remember that Mr. Wen just said that the 703 Institute has completed a principle prototype of intercooling and recuperation, and Mr. Yan is preparing to build a two-dimensional component-level model including the intercooling cycle."
"I wonder if there are parts that can complement each other in this aspect?"
In fact, since the idea was first proposed, both Yan Zhongcheng and Wen Xueyou were a little tempted.
For the former, cooperation with colleagues in shipbuilding industry is itself one of the options that Chang Haonan has considered.
After all, the 606 Institute currently has three ongoing projects, namely the Turbofan 10H, M88-3 and SeA650, and a fourth-generation engine, which is the pre-research of the Turbofan 10G.
Although the plan for the subsequent Turbofan 20 is led by Hao Jing, 606, as the big brother in the aviation development field, will definitely not be able to do nothing.
The resources and manpower that can be allocated to QC300 are already quite tight.
For Jacky Wen, if he insists on carrying out model selection, the result can only be a total victory or total defeat.
But Institute 703 is not as big as the other company, and GT25000 is a project they must ensure is foolproof.
If orders from the Navy are completely lost, development will be very difficult in the next few years, or even longer.
In this case, a safe choice that although it will not win, but will certainly not lose, is undoubtedly more tempting than direct stud.
Besides, looking at the current posture, if this one really goes down...
The winning rate is probably not optimistic.
However, it is one thing for them to be tempted, and another thing to actually agree.
Although cooperation does not mean that the two models merge into one, in any case, this is a cross-group behavior, and it also involves a fairly complicated distribution of interests.
It is definitely not something that can be agreed upon by the two chief masters. Therefore, neither of them can express their opinions.
"Director Li."
It was definitely not an option to remain in a stalemate like this, so in the end, Yan Zhongcheng broke the silence:
"I'm afraid this matter needs to be made at the group level before a final decision can be made. However, after I return, I will report the thoughts of my naval comrades as soon as possible."
"Only from a personal perspective, I think cooperation is feasible."
Next to him, Jacky Wen immediately made the same statement:
"I personally think cooperation is feasible. After I go back this time, I will report the situation and my personal opinions to the group for reference..."
After the two-day seminar, Yan Zhongcheng immediately found Chang Haonan and briefly described the meeting to the latter.
Naturally, these include the two improvement plans proposed by Zhu Fuying for 052C -
This is what Chang Haonan specifically told Yan Zhongcheng to remember before.
"It seems that the navy and comrades in the shipbuilding industry still have full trust in us..."
Chang Haonan, whose curiosity was satisfied, was in a good mood:
"Since Mr. Zhu can propose the second major modification plan, it means that they have already considered the possibility that the QC300 gas turbine can be installed on ships and put into use in a short time. This is a major benefit for us."
The first of Zhu Fuying's two plans is basically a replica of the 052D from the previous life. Even the power is the same two GT25000 plus two license-produced MTU956. There is nothing to say.
But the second one really suits Chang Haonan's liking.
The 8,000-ton displacement means that the cost will not skyrocket.
However, after improving the aspect ratio, the hull space and seaworthiness have been greatly improved.
As for motivation…
At a certain moment just now, Chang Haonan even thought of the relatively radical combustion-burning alternating drive form.
That is to say, two high-power QC300 models are used as propulsion gas turbines at high speeds, and two low-power models are used as cruise gas turbines at low speeds.
Unfortunately, cruise gas turbines only require a total of 8-10 MW of power, so even a single 13 MW QC130 is still too big.
Therefore, there is a high probability that we will still have to return to the alternating diesel-fuel mode of two QC300s and two MTU956s.
"Actually... they mainly trust you, Mr. Chang."
Yan Zhongcheng's words definitely come from his sincerity:
"The QC300 itself has not even been approved as a project, but the results of the Turbofan 10 are real and can be seen by everyone."
"Don't put the credit on my head."
Chang Haonan waved his hand:
"On the other hand, if there is no QC130 Zhuyu in front, which has successfully passed the test and been installed on the 054, others may not be optimistic about the technical route of the aeroderivative gas turbine."
"After all, before that, the performance of several aeroderivatives produced by our aviation industry system was generally not mentioned, and the research and development process was... quite tortuous."
The "more tortuous" models in his mouth are mainly the turbojet 6G, which was intended to be used as a ship power but failed, and the Sibei Aircraft Diesel, which was stillborn.
It can be said that if the Turbojet 14 hadn't entered Lin Qing's sight at the very right time, thus giving birth to the QC130, Institute 606 might not even be able to get tickets for naval equipment selection.
After some mutual compliments, Yan Zhongcheng returned to the topic:
"Then Mr. Chang, please take a look...the cooperation proposal put forward by the Navy..."
"As long as the model is mainly QC300, then I have no objection."
Chang Haonan immediately replied:
"Of course, a formal decision may need to be made by the leadership team at a meeting, but the result should not be in any suspense... It mainly depends on whether the other party is willing to join our R&D team."
"Besides, since we have to cooperate with others, we can't continue to be anonymous. We need to have a formal project anyway."
"Mr. Yan, prepare the relevant materials when you go back. After I am busy with March, I will try to complete the QC300 project before the end of April!"
