Chapter 783 Hudong Shipyard's trump card
After all the interviews, Chang Haonan finally decided to recruit Li Yabo under his name.
Firstly, after confirming the situation with Tang Lintian, we found that the young man was indeed very capable in all aspects. Secondly, he also had a good temper towards Chang Haonan.
When it comes to recruiting students, there are nothing more than three points.
Talent, ability, character.
No problem, the rest is just a matter of eye contact.
Of course, Yao Mengna was not without gains.
In the subsequent interview, she had a very interesting chat with a girl named Wan Chuanqing.
The latter majored in theoretical physics at Jinling University. Although he did not publish articles as an undergraduate like Li Yabo, his average score in professional courses was as high as a terrifying 97.3 points. He also won the first prize in the national physics competition and was one step away from entering the International Olympiad training team. Only one step away.
Logically speaking, students with such great potential go to a strong science school like Jinling University and usually either go abroad for further studies or continue their graduate studies at the same school.
“I didn't expect that…”
Therefore, Chang Haonan thought that after a period of "cooling off period", the students' enthusiasm would subside.
“That's why you don't eat minced meat.”
As long as it is not finalized, you can keep a spare tire.
His own extremely dazzling experience can certainly attract many people to submit their resumes on impulse.
It's a two-way choice.
Although there were only five people, the interview lasted almost the whole morning.
“I initially thought that with a new subject group like ours and new teachers, students would be more worried when making the final decision...”
In addition to these two people, two other students expressed their willingness to join the Torch Laboratory as students of other tutors in the same research group without being recruited by Chang Haonan himself.
But as we all know, a good researcher is not necessarily a good mentor.
This ratio is quite exaggerated.
Chang Haonan, who got up early and rushed to school, stood up and moved his body, making various joints make a crackling sound:
However, it turns out not to be.
That's why I want to apply for Beijing Airlines, which has become famous in recent years.
Out of the five people who came for the interview, four said that as long as they could join Torch Lab, it would be no problem to change their mentor.
So the needs of the two complemented each other perfectly, and they hit it off.
When the two finally made a decision after some discussion, it was already close to lunch time.
But Wan Chuanqing wanted to switch from science to engineering and enter a direction closer to application—in fact, this is also the choice of a large number of science majors when they study for graduate school.
Chang Haonan kept their resumes and application materials, and planned to let Liu Fangping and Lei Zhixing make their own decision after they returned from a business trip to Shanghai.
Of course, during the waiting time, these students can still continue to contact other schools and tutors.
As a new tutor, Yao Mengna also hopes that she can make some progress in theoretical basics.
Yao Mengna also stood up, gathered the scattered information on the table and put it into her bag, and then simply tied her hair into a long ponytail:
"Many research groups are worried about having no money or projects, and graduate students cannot graduate with results. It's a good thing for us. We have a school-enterprise alliance, and at least a few million in scientific research funding is guaranteed every year. In addition, the capital specifically approves the purchase of land and equipment. And special funds for site construction, anyone can see that there will be no shortage of money or resources for at least a few years, and even the academician's research team may not be so arrogant. "
“What's more, the school-enterprise alliance means that there are many ways to find employment after graduation. As a teacher, how can you still watch your students starve to death?”
"With this condition, not to mention just asking them to change their tutors, even if they don't have a tutor, as long as they can graduate, there are countless people who are willing to come."
After Yao Mengna explained it, Chang Haonan thought about it and felt that this was really the case.
After all, there are many tutors who only care about recruiting students but not training, and even just leave research topics to students.
In other words, even if there is no guidance from a tutor, it will most likely not affect graduation.
But if there are no topics and funding, then there is really no hope.
Liu Fangping and Lei Zhixing did not keep Chang Haonan waiting for too long.
A few days after the interview, the two returned to Beijing Airlines before November. "These are the resumes of the two students I mentioned to you before. Take a look at them carefully when you get back."
Chang Haonan took out two envelopes from the drawer and placed them on his desk:
“Teacher Yao and I have conducted interviews a few days ago and found no major problems. If you still want to know anything else, you can call us and ask in detail.”
Recruiting students was the first time for both of them as older girls to get on the sedan chair, so they were not able to adapt to this change of status for a while, so they just put away the two envelopes with some confusion.
Chang Haonan was not in a hurry to urge the two of them to make a decision. After all, keeping these two files was just a casual thing.
Even if you miss it, you can wait for the postgraduate entrance examination results to come out and then choose from the students who entered the interview.
Hence, he changed the topic and went directly to the topic:
“Tell me about what you learned in Hudong during this period.”
Lei Zhixing and Liu Fangping looked at each other, but the former spoke first:
"For the cargo tank using the Gas-Transport storage system, the bulkhead insulation layer is a five-layer structure. From the inside to the outside, it is a 0.7mm Yin steel plate for the main membrane, a main wooden box containing perlite powder with a thickness of about 10cm, and a 0.7mm Yin steel plate for the secondary membrane. Steel plate, a secondary wooden box filled with perlite powder about 15cm thick, and a resin layer about 2-3mm thick.”
“Because there are two layers of Invar steel plates, compared to the Technigaz system where only the innermost layer uses Invar steel, which is the technical route chosen by Samsung Offshore Engineering, the thickness, weight and cost of the entire cabin are lower. To be bigger, this is a limitation of the physical structure and there is no way to improve it.”
Chang Haonan was thinking about possible solutions while listening to Lei Zhixing's description.
As a metal layer with a very low thickness, the invar steel layer obviously does not have the ability to insulate, but it can bring better air tightness.
In this way, the performance of the Gas-Transport system and the Technigaz system in terms of transportation dissipation is basically the same.
However, the bulkhead of the latter is thinner and lighter. On the premise of transporting the same amount of LNG, the displacement of the ship can be made smaller and the cost is lower. This is a huge advantage for ship owners.
The structural strength redundancy brought by the double-layer invar steel of the Gas-Transport system can also be made up for by Samsung Offshore's more mature shipbuilding technology.
At least make up for part of it.
This is somewhat similar to a large passenger aircraft.
In an era when aviation technology was less developed, transoceanic passenger aircraft were required to have four engines to provide sufficient power backup to prevent the aircraft from crashing due to engine failure during flight.
However, with the development of aviation technology, twin-engine passenger aircraft were later allowed to fly transoceanic routes.
Although the reliability of two engines is still lower than that of four engines, the slight safety gap is no longer enough to make up for the huge cost increase brought by two more engines.
Therefore, by the time before Chang Haonan was reborn, wide-body twin-engine airliners like the Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 had almost completely replaced giants like the Boeing 747 and Airbus A380.
However, for some aircraft types that require absolute reliability, such as VIP aircraft, nuclear warfare command aircraft, and large tankers, the four-engine platform still has its place.
In the field of LNG ship cargo tank technology, the Gas-Transport system is equivalent to a four-engine aircraft, and the Technigaz system is equivalent to a two-engine aircraft.
If the former wants to prove the significance of their existence, they must find ways to learn from each other's strengths and weaknesses—
On the one hand, we should try to reduce the cost of use as much as possible, and on the other hand, we should find ways to leverage our own strengths.
Thinking of this level, the answer is readily apparent.
"My opinion is."
After Lei Zhixing introduced the specific situation, Chang Haonan spoke almost immediately:
"In any case, the storage container cannot be completely insulated, so evaporation and dissipation of LNG will inevitably occur during transportation. On current LNG ships, this part of the gas is either directly drained or burned. Better yet. Some of it can be recycled into the power system, but the gas consumption of the power system is too small to consume all the boil-off gas (BOG), and a considerable part will still be lost.”
“Then, we can integrate a complete evaporative gas reliquefaction system inside the cargo tank bulkhead system, which can reduce or even completely eliminate evaporation losses during transportation and achieve higher transportation efficiency than the Technigaz system.”
“Of course, the advantages of the Technigaz system in terms of hull specifications and construction costs still exist, but after making some compensation in terms of use costs, we should be able to get at least some guaranteed orders from the GTT Group.”
Listening to Chang Haonan's thoughts, Lei Zhixing and Liu Fangping didn't even know how to answer for a while.
After a while, the latter said:
“Professor Chang, on LNG ships, the bulkheads of the cargo tanks must be included in the overall structural safety design of the entire ship. If you rush to make a fuss here...the risk may not be small..."
Chang Haonan just nodded lightly:
"Of course there are risks, but Gas-Transport already has excess security redundancy compared to Technigaz, which is equivalent to us converting part of the security that exceeds user needs into economic efficiency. In fact, this is the main reason why Technigaz system currently has an advantage. reason."
“Since Hudong has already bet on Gas-Transport and has no way to turn around, we can only follow this idea at the moment.”
