The Master of Cards Chapter 10: Visiting Lily

Lily was shocked that the boy was performing the exercises in such a high gravity. She herself could not even move in 2.5 G, which was her resistance limit.

"Who is this boy?" She asked herself, but remembered that she had to deliver a message to Grandpa Ren. She knocked on the door of the gravity chamber.

Alex was surprised by the knock and he put on his shirt and opened the door to the chamber without turning off the gravity. He was surprised to find a girl in front of her.

"Umm... can you give this to Grandpa Ren?" Lily handed out an invitation card to Alex.

Alex heard her and understood that she must have come to visit Old Man Ren. "No problem, I'll give it to the old man, when he returns later." Lily nodded and walked away.

Later at night Alex gave the old man the invitation card.

"Oh, that little girl came back to give this?" He asked before opening it and smiling.

Alex went back to his room to temper his inner world. This time when he went into the statue, he realized he could move the statue, but there was a certain delay in response. Alex was delighted by his progress.

The next weekend the old man stopped Alex. "I am going to meet a friend for dinner. You come along with me."

Alex did not really care about any dinner. But the old man seemed to be quite firm about this. So he agreed and put on a good pair of clothes.

The old man took out his car, which shocked Alex. "Old man, you even had a car? Then why do you take the bus when you go out?"

"Have you seen the gasoline prices? I'm a retiree providing subsistence to a servant as well. Where will I get the money for gasoline? Old Ren snorted.

"Old man..." Alex said with disdain.

"What?" The old man asked.

"You cry about gas prices when your car is a Ferrari!"" Alex snorted.

Old man Ren coughed. Alex ignored his theatrics and the two departed in the car. Soon enough, the two arrived at an extremely glamorous mansion. When they arrived, the guards automatically let them in.

"Old man, you are friends with some tycoon?" Alex asked.

"Just keep your mouth shut and behave like my servant." The old man snarled.

Alex sighed and shut up. Technically he was indeed a servant.

The old man and Alex together entered the mansion after handing over the car keys to the valet.

After entering they were led to a beautiful garden inside the mansion, where a round table for dinner was set up. A heroic couple and a young girl were waiting on the table.

When the man saw the old man he trembled and with a big smile on his face, he bear hugged the old man. "Ren, you bastard. How did you become so old?"

Old Ren snorted. "I just didn't fake my age like you Carl." He then looked at the woman. "Its been a long time I saw you as well, June."

Carl and June began chatting with the old man while Alex and Lily noticed each other. Carl soon looked at Alex. "Who is this young man?" He asked Ren.

"This chicken is my current servant. Unfortunately he isn't blessed with talent. After he kept begging me to take him under my wing for a few years, I decided to give him the position of a servant." Old Ren bragged.

Carl and June knew that this Ren was up to mischief and snorted. Alex had dagger like eyes that could kill Ren, but he didn't respond. The state of halfway being through Hearts Becoming One allowed him to stably control his emotions quickly.

Carl looked at Alex. "Young man, what is your name?"

"Greetings, my name is Alex Lune."

When Carl heard the name he slightly tremored. His eyes shook as he looked at Ren. Ren blinked. Carl sighed and slapped Ren's shoulder as if to say, you've got balls!

Soon the group was having dinner. June asked Alex about himself. "He said he was an ordinary boy, hoping to become a carder in the future."

June nodded, while Carl kept looking at Ren with bewilderment. Ren simply shrugged. Carl looked at Alex after the dinner and motioned Lily. "Lily, you show Alex around, I have some things to talk to Grandpa Ren."

Lily nodded. Alex quietly followed her on Ren's instructions.

Lily spoke first. "Grandpa Ren said you go to Pinnacle High?"

Alex nodded. "I'm in grade 3-F."

"Grade 3-F... Isn't that where the delinquent incident happened? I'm in Grade 3-A. The special class." Lily said

"Oh, you must be one of the top talents at school then." Alex nodded. "I haven't interacted much with the A class, but I've heard everyone there is very talented."

"Its just based on past history. I'm sure there are some who are hiding their abilities." Lily said while she looked at Alex.

"Me? I have not even searched for the source energy yet." Alex shook his head. "My class tutor has given up on me."

Lily was shocked. "You haven't searched for the source yet? But I saw you training in 3.6 Gs!" She blurted our in surprise, but then her face became pink as she remembered spying on Alex. "I thought you were trying to fortify your seed." She diverted the topic.

Alex coughed. "Fortify the Seed?" He shook his head. "I truly haven't found the source yet."

"Then why were you training in high gravity?" Lily asked.

"This is old Ren's secret. I'm sorry I can't reveal it." Alex shook his head.

"Is grandpa Ren teaching you?" Lily asked.

"Sometimes... when he isn't ordering me around like a slave or forcing me to play five in a row with him for hours." Alex sighed in despair.

When Lily heard that she giggled. "Five in a row?"

Alex nodded. "That old man likes to play a children's game and even dares to cheat blatantly. He is shameless!"
