Chapter 55 The Hidden Rare Fruit in the Rock

On Liang Duan Mountain.

Ruo Feng propped his wrist on a large rock on the western half of the mountain, still focusing his smart watch camera on Jiang Shaoliu but also looking up to the eastern peak of the mountain with excitement.

Lin Yuetao was fighting with three people at the same time.

Bai Long moved like lightning, his glittering silver-white blade slicing through the air toward Lin Yuetao’s chest.

Lin Yuetao shouted loudly as the silver streak missed his ribs by an inch and swung his long staff to strike Bai Long’s wrist like a flexible python.

Bai Long retreated quickly, the sword falling from his bruised hand.

Two crystal wires flew out from Yin Manshu’s fingers, changing directions mid-flight as if endowed with sentience. One wrapped itself tightly around Lin Yuetao’s staff, the other caught the long white sword and carried it back to Bai Long.

The wind whistled as Bai Long leaped forward and caught his sword, proceeding to charge at Lin Yuetao. Chi Xiao attacked from behind Lin Yuetao, like the fierce cheetah.

Snap!

Lin Yuetao leaned away and tugged on his staff sharply, snapping the crystal wire, which flew in a semicircle, quickly whipping Bai Long’s neck. Simultaneously, he kicked backwards as hard as he could.

Bai Long lost his balance and fell down to the ground as his silver momentarily light faded, but nevertheless thrust his sword forward at Lin Yuetao’s legs.

The silvery flash of the sword passed just under Lin Yuetao’s left leg, and at that moment, Bai Long rolled over and sprung to his feet, popping his neck bones.

A bloody light flashed in Chi Xiao’s eyes.

He folded his arms and blocked Lin Yuetao’s kick, which threw him off his feet and onto his buttocks. Then he turned over his wrist and swept his claws over Lin Yuetao’s calf.

After rolling backwards over his shoulder, Chi Xiao raised his clawed hand and gently flicked his wrist, causing several strips of torn cloth to fall down.

Lin Yuetao glared at him, his staff held at the ready.

His combat suit was sliced open, and the silver light on his exposed skin seemed a little faint. He couldn’t keep up for much longer.

“Lion Warrior,” Yin Manshu gave him a cold look, continuously swinging the crystal wires around herself, “you are indeed the best warrior in Yungang since you’ve been able to fight us off for such a long time, but you won’t have a chance to roar with the three of us cooperating. Just give up now!”

“Humph!” Lin Yuetao didn’t reply. He crouched down and began breathing slowly, his features extremely focused.

A sheen like a layer of silver frost spread down his arms. His body trembled and the stones beneath his feet began to crack.

Yin Manshu, Chi Xiao and Bai Long were astonished.

“You’ve got the fourth ring?” Bai Long cried in surprise.

Lin Yuetao continued to focus his energy. He shot Bai Long a piercing look: “Bai Long, you have good skill with the sword, but you wouldn’t last two minutes against me on your own.”

Bai Long lowered his head and kept silent. After a brief while, he took out a capsule from his pocket and swallowed it, saying in a low voice, “I’ve always wanted to test CR3. Won’t find a better opportunity than this anytime soon.”

“Really?” Lin Yuetao laughed and turned to Chi Xiao, “Your claws are cool, but you could never defeat me without the help of Bai Long and Yin Manshu.”

Chi Xiao stuck out his scarlet tongue and licked a drop of blood from his lips, then he sneered and said, “You think very highly of yourself. I’m confident enough to face Lion Warrior.”

Then he bit his tongue fiercely and blood covered his lips, which he hungrily licked off. His red hair began dancing wildly and his eyes were almost blood-red. His clawed fingers shone brilliantly, seemingly covered in glowing mercury.

Lin Yuetao nodded seriously. “Impressive.”

Then he looked at Yin Manshu.

She glared back at him with frosted eyes. “Lin Yuetao, quit messing with us. You haven’t condensed your fourth ring yet, otherwise you’d have already beaten us by now.”

Staring at her, Lin Yuetao laughed, “Yin Manshu, you display good technique with your frost qi, but I’m quite sure I do not fall short of it, even without a fourth life ring.”

Yin Manshu gritted her teeth and flicked her wrists angrily. A loose net of crystal wires were twisted and formed a long white chain like a little finger, on top of which frost flowers danced in cold wisps of mist.

She fiercely flailed the chain in circles over her head and snarled, “We can beat him if we work together!”

“Okay!” Chi Xiao and Bai Long replied with one voice and charged immediately.

Lin Yuetao cried out and whipped his long staff down toward them.

A cold light flashed in Yin Manshu’s eyes as she prepared to thrash him with her icy whip.

Then…

A figure shot over the edge of

edge of the cliff below them with a blast of wind and landed steadily amongst them after flipping in the air. He turned around and chuckled, “Sorry for keeping you guys waiting.”

…

“Jiang Shaoliu is on the third platform now.” Ruo Feng narrated for his audience. A small warning light on his watch caught his attention and he groaned, “Damn, the battery is running out. I need to replace it.”

The livestream went dark.

“Hey, what is the meaning of this? I want to watch the battle between them!”

“Jiang Shaoliu is so cool, even those three great masters are no match for him. He has killed more than 100 enemies!”

“Boo!!! Come on, we want to see Jiang Shaoliu!”

“Chi Xiao is so cool, but now I can’t decide between him and Jiang Shaoliu!”

Ruo Feng took a deep breath after he changed the battery. He wiped the large beads of cold sweat on his forehead and aimed his smart watch camera at Jiang Shaoliu. 

The stream went live again.

“Jiang Shaoliu!” Staring at that familiar figure, Yin Manshu almost wanted to cry. “Nobody has ever treated me like that since the day I was born!”

Jiang Shaoliu glanced at her and didn’t say anything. He focused on Lin Yuetao and the others.

“Jiang Shaoliu!!” A flash of silver burst out from under Yin Manshu’s feet as she rushed over angrily to stand right in front of him. “I’m talking to you! How dare you ignore me?! Are you trying to humiliate me?!”

Jiang Shaoliu rolled his eyes. “I’ve no time for this crap. Get out of my way or I’ll kick your ass again.”

“I’m not afraid of you!” Yin of you!” Yin Manshu swung the long chain in her hands. The white mist oozing out of it became thicker and thicker, while her face became redder and redder. She gnashed her teeth and screamed into his face, “I will not let this go unpunished!”

“Alright, damnit, I’ll kill you right now!” Jiang Shaoliu roared and raised his fist towards her face, but then stopped.

He squinted at something in the distance.

A giant rocky outcrop lay not far away, jagged at the top and wide at the base. It was surrounded by heaps of rubble and scratch marks, seemingly from the claws of giant beasts attempting to scale it.

Dozens of deep crevices penetrated its surface. It seemed that there was a huge spherical hollow within the rock, where many inky-green vines intertwined to form a huge, dense, leafy ball.

“Is there a rare fruit in there?” Jiang Shaoliu sniffed.

There was a faint scent in the air, but it had to be coming from the ball of vines inside the rock. Only the appearance of a rare fruit could cause such a phenomena to occur.

“Jiang Shaoliu, is this how you plan to kill me?” Yin Manshu muttered, seething with rage. “Are you trying to tease me to death?”

“Tease you?” Jiang Shaoliu stared at Yin Manshu with clenched fists and blood-red eyes, “You should have used this opportunity to run for your life! You’ve done evil things and I’ll tease you however I want!”

As he said so, Jiang Shaoliu roared and stepped forward, right past her swinging silvery chain, which made the hair on the back of his neck stand on end with cold.

His fist rose with the force of a hurricane.

Bang!
