Her husband, who had come at the breakfast table in the middle of the her ranting and guessed the topic, tried to warn her by clearing his throat . But Mrs . Wang was hell bent on driving her point home .
"I think I am old enough to handle my life's affairs . Like I had mentioned before, I don't appreciate your meddling nor do I require your opinion in this matter," he said stonily .
Mr . Wang intervened and told his wife, "have some faith in your son's judgement . As and when he needs our help, he will reach out to us . "
She glared at her husband for interrupting .
"Are you both blind? That woman couldn't save her marriage, then tried to latch onto you and now has crossed all limits and is trying to break someone's marriage . What does that tell you about her character and upbringing?" she reiterated .
Wei had slept badly the night before and his mother's barbs weren't helping improve his mood . Usually he didn't let anyone's words affect him . But he was still smarting under Tang's bold claims from the day before . His own helplessness under the circumstances made him speak more harshly than normal .
"I suggest you choose your next words carefully before uttering them . I find myself low on patience today and don't want to say something which both of us may end up regretting later," he started, by warning her .
"As for how and why of Jia Li's actions, I don't see how do they impact you or anyone else for that matter . Considering that you are my mother by birth, I am going to accord you the respect up until you don't do something damaging to me and my loved one," he declared .
Mrs . Wang stood stupefied at her son's words . It was all because of that b**** that he was speaking to her like this .
Trying to save the situation from deteriorating any further, Mr . Wang intervened and said, "I think it would be best if we all took some time to reflect upon our behaviour today . Wei, I understand that you feel deeply for this person but please do not misunderstand your mother's emotions behind her words . As for you, my dear wife, I think as parents of an adult son, we have to show some amount of basic faith in our upbringing of him . Let's all show each other some respect, shall we?"
She harrumphed at the dissatisfactory outcome of the conversation but pursed her lips . Wei, on the other hand, was too upset to sit at the breakfast table anymore .
Picking up an apple from the fruit bowl, he said to no one in particular, "I am running late for work . I will see you in the evening . "
"You are not understanding what I have been trying to tell you for the past few days, nor are you willing to look inside your son's heart . I agree that she may not be the ideal girl envisioned by you for Wei but she is the one he likes . Maybe you have been too preoccupied with your work in the past year or so else you would have registered the change in his demeanour yourself . There have been no link-ups with any of the starlets or socialites, rumoured or otherwise . His commitment to work has grown multi-fold . In fact, I am amazed at his capability level today, considering how disinterested he was in joining the family business," Mr . Wang said to his wife .
"And you want to give the credit for all this to that tramp? She sounds like a paragon of virtues . I simply can't wait to meet her," she responded ominously .
Mr . Wang shook his head in despair, "why can't you grasp the simple fact that you son is madly in love with that woman . If you try and hurt her in anyway, he would not forgive you . "

"Can you stop staring at me please? It's distracting, to say the least . If you are bored, just go and take a walk around the place while I do my work," Jia Li told Tang, who sat brooding opposite her for the past hour or so .
All of them had met at the institute the next morning . While Chu and Ethan had gone in the neighbouring areas to explore the surroundings, Tang had insisted on staying back and "helping Jia Li" with the pending work .
