The Gods' Decree 240 I Am Destined To Be A Waste

Screams of horror could be heard from the disciples having witnessed the once young Darwin rapidly resemble an aged dried up corpse, chard from head to toe. One moment he seemed in high spirits and the next he was crying stating his innards were on fire.

Within a flash, Elder Mu had made his way to Darwin's side, but it was too late. There wasn't a pulse, yet from what could be seen it was quite evident Darwin died an agonizing death. He personally had checked Darwin's body a few minutes prior noting he was quite healthy.

So convinced was Mu by his diagnosis that he even went further as to broadly proclaim his findings out loud. Now he looked like a fool whose words need not be taken seriously. How could this have occurred under his watch?

He looked in the distance with a serious gaze. There was no doubt in his mind that those two spoiled brats[1] were the ones behind the act. But no matter how he thought of it he was reminded it was he who gave them the nod to leave. Absolving the two of any responsibility, leaving countless witnesses to testify on their behalf.

Could it be that he and Alders had been unwilling participants in some previously orchestrated diabolical killing scheme? Mu swiftly tried to recall all that had happened within the twenty minutes the two were present.

Then he recollected something that Alders had commented at the time. When seeing the last two arrows fired at Darwin, it appeared May had no intention of truly mortally wounding him. It was as though she was guiding stray cattle back to the pen.

At that moment the veil suddenly lifted from his eyes. Darwin's life was never in jeopardy from the two while on the outside, on the contrary, it was his safest bet for survival. The true intent of the two was for him to arrive at the safe haven.

This was where they planned to kill him with all the witnesses present. It just so happens that he and Alders played perfectly into their hands. Hence those angelic smiles displayed on their faces prior were not from being caught in a lie. No, it was seeing that their plans were proceeding flawlessly.

Though enraged realizing he was used as a pawn in someone else's scheme, there was a bit of admiration from Mu. He was a schemer himself, It could be seen their plans did have some layers to it. What puzzled him however was not locating whatever was hidden in Darwin's body that led to his demise so swiftly.

This was quite jarring, furthermore deepening the mystery in his eyes. With all his strength, what did he have on his possession to kill an enemy from thousands of meters away? He was a lord while mere qi realm could do this at their leisure.

Could it possibly be that their mysterious master had laden them with wonderous treasures?

Even for a lord realm such as himself, it could be said that a few additional desires brew within Mu's heart. It all started when he first heard of the child on that day journeying to the borders of Braveman's Graveyard. Yet he learned it was most wise to keep himself in check.

At the time he had thoughts of capturing the child before the sect got a hold of him. After which he would then proceed to sell him to the highest bidding lording Country. He was no fool however seeing the glaring errors in the schemes he wove.

With so many powerful pieces he would be crushed to paste, even suggesting a negotiation to those entities. Not to mention the masked individual from the forest who had taken both May and Taf at the time.

Disregarding the other points, what truly made him realize his stupidy was the blood oath made between himself and the Dark Abylis Sect. It might seem trivial to those unaware of such restriction but he knew the harsh penalty of breaking such terms.

All disciples could be deemed assets of the sect. Having joined the Dark Abylis Sect Taf was regarded as one of these assets. Therefore any move against him would be action against the sect asset.

This was an agreement not only with himself and the Dark Abylis Sect, but the heavens as well. If he were to dare go against the stipulated terms, within moments his body would be struck by lightning turning into ash.

Crouch beside Darwin's corpse, Mu had lost all care in figuring out what led to his death. While his face conveyed concern, in his heart the thirst for whatever treasures both May and Taf hid was driving him crazy. He wanted all for himself, but it seemed impossible as every pathway appeared blocked.

Still, Mu would not give up as this was a once in a lifetime opportunity. At this point, Taf is at his most vulnerable but with the rate of his development perhaps within the next five years contending with a lord realm might not be inconceivable. Thus he had to find a way to break this blood oath before the window closes.

The question he faced was how?

While immersed in his thought Mu felt a presence beside him, it was a concerned Alders. Seeing the corpse of Darwin it didn't take long for Alders to figure out the ones behind his death. Alas, there was nothing he could do to bring Darwin's killers to justice.

Being one who always believed in the right. Alders was a bit aggrieved they were powerless in saving Darwin. At the time he had pleaded for their protection and they failed him so miserably. It could be said that Alders no longer favored Taf or May, perceiving them as murderous fiends.[2]

His eyes lingered further in the distance where Taf and May had made their exit as his fist clenched. He truly desired to scold the two but as Alders was about to make a move, a hand casually made its way on his shoulder.

"What are you doing? Did you forget the two's status? With no evidence against them you're basically creating enemies of two inevitable future strong beings. He is already a corpse, don't make yourself a martyr."

Mu yawned as he spoke which only led to Alders transferring his disgust onto him,

"Maybe if you had focused on something other than sleeping for once, a life could have been saved. When will you ever care about anything?"

" Well, It's who I am, my fellow elder. It's rewritten in the stars that I die a waste, so why try changing at this juncture?" Mu smiled as he spoke acting quite content with his words. Alders however scuffed at his seeming lack of motivation.

Not wanting to further converse with such a being Alders then made his exit. This man was a lost cost in his eyes. Yet as his back turned he was apparently blinded to the sneer which graced Mu's face.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Within the distance, Taf looked at his index finger which had some static sparks flickering before suddenly disappearing.

"Our friend Darwin is no more." He uttered with a cheeky grin. Hearing his words May happily grabbed his arm.

"Good riddance, now Lisa can sleep soundly at night."

As the two spoke they then vanished into thin air. The next time they could be seen a new world was within their field of vision. There were three golden moons and a star-filled sky that limits knew no bounds.

Beside a lake, resting was a young woman with a broad sword on her lap. She marveled at her surroundings, this place was so foreign and beautiful. Honestly, Niesha knew not by what means she had entered. At the time May had only told her not to resist.

When finally seeing the two she rushed over in sheer excitement.

"May where are we?" Niesha hurriedly questioned. Seeing her enthusiasm May could only smile. At the moment Niesha acted like an adorable toddler entering a candy store for the first time.

"It's my safe haven. We'll stay here for the night." She then responded as the two joined Niesha by the lake.

With May's response, it only brought for more questions to Niesha's mind. She couldn't comprehend how May and Taf had access to such a hidden world. Even if they told her it was from their space stone she would never believe.

Perhaps for her to believe they would have to disclose about Draconian Alestar, which was information the two would never divulge, no matter how they trusted Niesha.

Seeing the two were reluctant to prolong the argument Niesha sought to change the topic, "Have you two finished that business which you spoke of." She questioned.

"Let's just say it was truly electrifying and went off without a hitch." Taf chuckled as May smilingly pinched him to his sight. Of course, the one who asked, Niesha was lost to the joke. Yet knowing these two whenever they went out together it could be nothing good.

"I'm off to take a bath and have plans of cultivating for sometime during the night. Therefore I will have to bid you, two ladies, adieu."

Taf without any form of tact removed his shirt readying to fly off into the distance before a wall of ice suddenly appeared blocking his path. When he turned around Taf saw May with her arms folded evidently discontent.

"Can I help you with something miss?" Taf questioned with a puzzled look displayed on his face. May however would not fall for this innocent demeanor,

"Sir aren't you forgetting the rules of our bet. Now after your bath I would like prepared for me, brown stewed beast pork with yams and potatoes. As for the beverage, you can surprise me?"

She smirked after slowly speaking. How could May forget to collect on her earnings from the previous bet? Taf, however, could only wryly smile.

"Where are my manners? Niesha would you like something to eat? This fellow right here would prepare anything to your liking. He is my personal chef for the night."

Having not had enough of taunting Taf, May sought to dig even further by adding Niesha to the mix.

It could be said she was perhaps the only one who truly knew how to get beneath his skin and this remained true to the day. Hearing May's words Taf side glanced at her while grinding his teeth. This was the first time Niesha had ever seen him lost for words.

Of course, this caused the two to burst into laughter at his expense. It so happens that their laughter became so infectious he could only join in.

Unedited Version

To be continued....

[1] In his mind, Taf and May are quite privileged which is also a fact.

[2] So as I write I try to make the character have their independent views or perspective. How would Alders see both Taf and May after they killed Darwin in such a gruesome manner? What would anyone in his position think?
