Chapter 1144: The Demon: Unseal
Ohm!!
A powerful wave of energy surged into the Hall Plains.
"Blood Lightning Monster! You will not be able to hide!"
A booming voice, filled with sheer power, echoed across the land—reverberating through every corner like a divine decree. The atmosphere grew heavy, choked by an overwhelming presence that blanketed everything in its path.
Alice and the others instinctively looked up, their bodies tensing. A crushing pressure gripped them, as though invisible hands were tightening around their throats.
A God-rank being had arrived.
"This is not good..." Vashno muttered, his expression grim.
"We're not even that far from Ekatoe City," Eztein added, glancing at the terrain ahead.
They were only several kilometers away and for a being of that level, such distance meant nothing. A flicker. A blink. That was all it would take.
Alice's eyes were filled with worry. Her thoughts were consumed by one name.
Souta.
The power of a God was something far beyond their reach, beyond logic, beyond resistance. All they could do now was brace for what was coming.
Across various cities ruled by the Heads of the Dragon Council—
"Oh shit! A God just appeared!" the Fifth Head exclaimed, sensing the pressure crackling in the air.
The other Heads felt it too, a weight that pressed on their chests and darkened the skies. They all knew this changed everything. As rulers of territories within the Hall Plains, they couldn't escape its consequences.
They had been focused on evacuating their people, but now... a higher being had descended, scanning the entire land. Evacuation seemed meaningless in the face of such power.
"I'm Arzona, Commander of the 53rd Demon Army. Blood Lightning Monster, you know what we want. You cannot hide from me!"
Arzona's voice shook the land like thunder, his energy infused into every word. The pressure of it caused thousands to collapse instantly—civilians and low-level warriors alike. His declaration wasn't just heard, it was felt.
Flaem Clan
Hono and Erkigal stood side by side, gazing up at the sky, deep frowns etched on their faces.
"A God..." Hono murmured.
After a brief silence, she added, "What do you think will happen now?"
Erkigal's expression was grim. "I don't know... Even if we wanted to help, there's nothing our strength can do against a God. It's useless."
His words hung heavy in the air, echoing the helplessness felt by many across the land.
She couldn't imagine how Souta would survive this calamity. Olympus had forsaken him so there was no one left who could protect him now.
Erkigal turned her head, her gaze falling upon the frightened members of their clan.
"Help them," she said calmly. "Some are already being consumed by fear. If this continues, they won't be able to endure it."
Hono nodded without a word and stepped into action.
Across the Hall Plains, countless people cowered in corners, clutching their heads in panic. They covered their ears and squeezed their eyes shut in a futile attempt to block out the voice, but the fear kept growing, seeping into their minds like a poison.
The voice of a God, amplified with divine energy, wasn't something ordinary people could resist. It affected everyone differently. For some, it induced paralyzing terror. For others... a dangerous, intoxicating thrill.
Outside the Hall Plains
In the shadows beyond the region's borders, several Gods lurked, concealing their presence as they observed Arzona, the Demon Pillar.
"Ehe~ This will be fun..." one whispered with glee.
"Careful," another warned. "The Three Bringers of Calamity might be watching too, waiting for the perfect chance to strike down a few of us."
"And the Holy Lands? What are they doing? Just standing by while the demons make their move? Bold of them..."
"Kekeke... Whatever this is, it'll be mine. If it's valuable, I might even evolve again."
Their whispers echoed in the dark void, inaudible to mortals, shared only among themselves.
It wasn't just one gaze watching the Hall Plains.
Multiple divine eyes had turned toward the unfolding storm.
Countless mortals had no idea what was about to unfold.
The Hall Plains were on the verge of becoming a battleground for Gods.
Asgard, Takamagahara, Aaru, and other Holy Lands watched silently from the sidelines. Each had its own reservations and its own hidden schemes.
Who would take the bait? Who would fall today?
Ohm!!
A powerful aura descended upon the Hall Plains as a figure slowly materialized in the sky. His presence sent a ripple through the atmosphere, and all eyes turned toward him.
The figure's gaze locked directly onto Arzona.
Arzona halted mid-air, narrowing his eyes as he recognized the newcomer.
"Ruler of Gluttony..." he muttered.
That's right. The man who had just appeared was none other than Esquin, the Ruler of Gluttony.
"You're bold," Esquin said calmly, casually combing back his hair. "I told you demons once to stay in your lair. But considering what's happening now... I've had a change of heart."
"What do you want?" Arzona asked, his tone sharp and guarded.
Esquin chuckled. "Oh, nothing much. I simply want to take a look at whatever it is you're searching for. Who knows... Maybe you demons can keep the other Holy Lands busy while I enjoy the show."
"You—" Arzona raised his hand, and an immense surge of energy began to gather.
Ohm!!
The very fabric of space trembled as the skies over the Hall Plains turned ominously dark. Thick clouds swirled above, and thunder rumbled across the heavens like the drums of war.
Down below, mortals froze in place, overcome by an instinctual dread. It was as if the land itself was warning them, a calamity was about to be unleashed.
Just as Arzona was about to release his attack, the air shifted.
A colossal mountain erupted from the ground, piercing through the cloud layer. Its jagged surface cracked and split as blood-red water burst from its peak, cascading like a crimson waterfall. Moments later, a thick black smoke billowed upward, engulfing the skies above the Hall Plains in choking darkness.
Esquin narrowed his eyes as he stared downward.
"That's..." he muttered, his voice tinged with caution.
Arzona turned sharply, his expression hardening as he felt it too—an overwhelming wave of raw, ancient energy spreading through the land.
And then, a voice thundered across the world:
"In my name..."
It was powerful. Primeval. A voice that transcended races and realms.
Souta landed in a secluded area deep within the central region of the Hall Plains. He turned his head slightly, extending his perception across the land.
"They couldn't follow us..." he murmured.
The ones chasing him were gone, unable to keep up with his speed.
'That's only natural. You're far beyond them now. They were never the real threat. It's the higher beings after your head that you should be concerned about,' Saya said calmly in his mind.
"I know. That's why we came here," Souta replied, nodding.
'Good. Just follow my instructions. Everything is in place now.'
At her direction, Souta began carving an enormous magic circle into the ground. Once it was complete, he raised his hand and blood poured out, dripping onto the circle.
Ohm!!
The circle absorbed the blood greedily, its etched lines glowing with an intense red light.
Souta watched the transformation unfold, his face calm. He had already accepted what needed to be done.
Thump!!
A faint pulse of energy spread across the ground like a heartbeat.
'Do it, Souta.'
Without hesitation, Souta raised the vajra sword and plunged it into the heart of the circle.
Boom!!
The earth trembled violently as a pillar of light exploded upward.
Swoosh!!
In the next instant, Souta found himself in a different space, isolated from the physical world.
Before him stood a massive cube, covered in ancient chains and powerful seals. A presence stirred within—a being bound tightly, its body obscured by the weight of magical restraints.
"So you're here..."
A deep, resonant voice echoed through the chamber.
"No God Emperor..." Souta muttered, his eyes fixed on the massive, sealed cube before him.
This was the being imprisoned in this space.
The man born without shackles.
The man born an emperor.
The No God Emperor.
"Why did you come here?" the voice asked again, filled with power and calm finality.
"As if you didn't know..." Souta replied coolly.
He already knew the truth. Saya had told him everything—what transpired between her and the No God Emperor at the end of that fateful battle.
Months ago
Right after Souta's final attack had seemingly defeated the No God Emperor, Saya descended into the remnants of Yenxia's body, attempting to erase the lingering will of the emperor.
"It's useless," the No God Emperor said calmly. "You can't erase my will here. It's fused with this vessel, it has assimilated beyond separation. If you persist, you'll only damage your consciousness... beyond repair."
But Saya remained steady, unfazed.
"I have a proposal," she said.
The No God Emperor raised an eyebrow, intrigued.
"About Souta..." Saya continued, her voice firm.
The emperor smiled faintly, amused. "Go on."
"I believe Souta will soon face something far beyond his capabilities," she said, recalling the events in Fone Kingdom, the threads of fate twisting unnaturally. "He will need help—help that only someone like you can provide. When that time comes, I will tell him to free you. In exchange, you will provide protection."
There was a pause.
Then, a slow, amused chuckle.
"Oh...? And why do you think he would agree to such a thing?" the No God Emperor asked, eyes gleaming within the cube of chains.
"It's probably because it would cost him everything if he faced that disaster alone," Saya said softly. "I know him. I've always been with him. That's why... I'm certain he'll agree."
The No God Emperor smiled faintly and closed his eyes. "Very well. I accept. I will offer a little help, nothing more. It's quite interesting, after all. Until then, I will remain still."
Saya lifted her gaze, staring solemnly at the sealed being before her.
"I will give you a magic circle that can initiate the process. You people can't break the seal by yourselves, but with it, the chances are higher. A sacrifice will be appreciated." A faint smirk appeared on his lips. "This time, I don't need a vessel. I've already prepared something outside, using this body."
Yes... the No God Emperor hadn't simply fought after taking control of Yenxia. He had prepared an escape route, a contingency in case he failed.
Back in the present.
"You're here to free me," the No God Emperor said, his voice filled with ancient power. "I'll help you... but don't expect me to babysit you."
"I know," Souta replied with a nod.
The sealed being let out a deep, amused laugh. "It hasn't been that long, yet you've grown stronger. Go on, show them. Show everyone what you're capable of. Create history in this very moment. I shall witness the glory you will bring."
Souta's eyes narrowed. "I want to kill you."
There was no anger in his voice—just a cold promise.
"Then come for me," the No God Emperor said, smiling wider. "I've never experienced death before... so grant it to me, if you can. Though with your current strength, it's impossible. Besides..." His voice deepened. "I have already removed the concept of death from my body. I no longer possess such a thing."
Souta took a deep breath and raised his hand. Energy surged from his palm as he shouted, "Saya!"
"I know!" Saya responded without hesitation.
Ohm!!
A blinding white light consumed the entire space.
And then—the Mountain of Demise rose once more.
Dark, twisted roots spread through the sky, reaching outward like tendrils, consuming everything in their path. Thick black smoke blanketed the skies above the Hall Plains. Rain began to pour in torrents as lightning tore through the heavens. Thunder roared relentlessly, shaking the earth. A violent storm had descended.
The people of the Hall Plains lifted their heads, eyes wide in fear.
Memories came rushing back—of death, destruction, and despair.
The calamity that nearly wiped them all out just months ago...
It had returned.
