The Employed Empress 24 Chapter 24: Read the signs

Silence followed the two of them.

It was more accurate to say that Wei Yi Yi ignore him. His empress happily discussed with her maid what's good to eat, how are they made, how do they taste. With the two of them on their own world, Jiang Yu felt like a thirdwheel.

Earlier, when he noticed that the supposed 'guard' is actually a maidservant, it took Jiang Yu all his patience not to reprimand Wei Yi Yi.

He hold a strong desire to educate his empress on how it is dangerous for royalties to go on a trip alone with just a feeble handmaid.

Without waiting too much, waiters started to served the food. Streams slipping out of every dish proved that they were newly cooked. They're probably fresh too!

Ever since coming to this backward era, Wei Yi Yi no longer thought she's going to die with all the preservatives added to their daily food.

Wei Yi Yi immediately tug Tang Mei to sit and put a bowl infront of her without much thought. Jiang Yu wanted to stop her but decided against it. Whether it is him being fed up or his lack of care, Wei Yi Yi would never know.

They leisurely took their meal. Eunuch Lin sometimes looked awkward throughout the process.

During the meal, Wei Yi Yi would observed Tang Mei's intake with her peripheral vision. Whenever she felt like she's eating too little, she would offer other dishes. If she felt like Tang Mei would reach out for a dish but too shy to extend her arms, Wei Yi Yi would immediately push the bowl next to her.

It was an unconscious manner born from her years of growing up with guys.

How could a maidservant let her mistress serve her instead?! Eunuch Lin eyed Tang Mei but the maid wouldn't even look up.

Being with Wei Yi Yi, how could she not rub off to Tang Mei her oblivious manner? Even inside the palace, the empress would offer her all the pastries she could name. Her mistress must be fattening her up.

Finishing his meals, Jiang Yu looked over at Wei Yi Yi to see her patting her chest from time to time. "Is the empress in pain? Why are you crouching like that?"

Wei Yi Yi jumped in shock. This---how could she actually explain? Eeerr some lady died of heartbreak and still crying inside?

"Boss, ah! Where incognito. I'm hiding my beautiful silhouette," she reasoned. Crouching a bit more to contain the piercing pain in her chest.

It cannot be helped, 'Wei Yi Yi' died of heartbreak because of boss. No matter what she said to this lingering ghost, she would still feel uncomfortable when Jiang Yu is inside her radar.

She's just borrowing a body after all. It's only with her strong will that she's not fainting over like the first time.

Ah silly girl, this is an era where third parties are accepted and even encouraged by tradition. How could you actually dig your heart out for someone, stupid.

At the very far end corner of the market district was a well know bookstore with a very large collection of books from different topics. It stand the challenge of a few generation, being run by the same line of family after all this years.

Right after entering the store, Wei Yi Yi greedily inhale the scent of papers. The woody smell is as addictive as ever.

"Find your own corner boss while I hunt for mine!" The empress said before running of to the inner most part of the store.

Jiang Yu shake his head upon seeing Wei Yi Yi's childish action. He instructed the people at the back to stand guard as he followed his empress.

Hiding a tree inside the forest is truely the right way to hide treasures. With this mountain of knowledge infront of her, her eyes glistening with perverted obsession.

"What are you exactly searching for?" Observing the place, Jiang Yu wondered what runs on her head.

"Nothing in particular." Wei Yi Yi pick up a book with a decent cover, scanning the content and observing the title. She then passed it to Jiang Yu.

"A palace tale?" He confirmed. "You could have instructed the servants to gather this kinds of books for you." Jiang Yu passed the book to Xiao Lin Xi to hold.

This process continued for a while. Wei Yi Yi would pick the ones she liked, passed it to Jiang Yu to hold, after commenting on her taste, Xiao Lin Xi would be the one who end up holding them all.

"Boss, stop commenting. This is called hording. I'm preparing for winter," she stopped Jiang Yu while internally cursing him as a normie.

"What?" Jiang Yu was about to reach out to the one she's holding when she hold out her hand to his face to stop him.

Wei Yi Yi then flip the book once more.

This! Ah! I found my lifeline!

Jiang Yu stand closer to peek at what Wei Yi Yi is reading. The book contain instructions how to ready your partner. It was well detailed as it also talk about what kind of cream and oinment you should prepare before hand.

Also! The said partner is a male!

"You---" Wei Yi Yi immediately run over to the front desk before he could spoke out his disbelief.

"Manager!! Dear manager, do you have more books about this?!" With a shameless looked on her face, Wei Yi Yi wave the book for all to see.

The manager awkwardly coughed, "Is young master preparing to welcome a male bride? Our store have a collection of references regarding the matter."

"Yes Ah! Yes please."

The book she's holding talk about the process and even suggest positionings. With it's instruction-like writing style, it's quite monotone. What she needed is more explicit. Something like R18! Picture references if there's any please!

"Then, will gentleman please follow me?" The manager calmly lead the questionable young master to the second floor.

"Wei Yi Yi!" Jiang Yu shouted at the top of his lungs in a 'no speaking' place.

Wei Yi Yi looked at him then sign 'quiet' with her finger before she took off once again.
