Seven days had passed since she came to this new world. With her old father’s teaching, she began to understand this land.
This land was hiding in the vast mountains, which was once a living place for secluded people. Three sides of it were encircled by mountains, with the rest facing the ocean. People living here believed in dragons, regarding them as gods of protection against evil spirits. Their culture was like ancient China, but with more nationalities.
Tianque was the most important mountain of the three, not only because it was the highest one, but also because it was the only route for the civilians to go out of this isolated area and enter the main land. The City Leaf was the most prosperous city and the capital of Baizi Kingdom. Many merchants gathered here for business.
However, the Shenlong Sword Clan was a total nightmare to Chen Xi. This clan was said to be founded by a secret family, and their disciples were protecting the god of protection against evil spirits for generations. Though it was called a sword clan, their most powerful art was not sword art, but a secret art of communicating with the gods. Only those showing the best potential knew how to do that. But the so-called god was the cat-like dog staying in jade.
After hearing this legend from the father, Chen Xi was amused. This ridiculous agreement made even her a potential practitioner. Anyway, she couldn’t draw out the sword the body’s previous owner left; how could she take on the responsibility of being their clan’s young leader?
“I am not the young leader of your clan,” Chen Xi had stated four times.
But nobody cared about her thoughts.
“Young leader, you just came back to live here, you need to rest. Madam told us to serve you medicine for a while. The young priest, Xiongmao, said your amnesia is temporary. With enough rest and proper remedy, you will recover soon.” The servant tried to comfort her as he had so many times. But the coldness in his eyes really made her suffocate.
He was like ice that never melted. He was younger than the age of reaching maturity and choosing a gender. His beauty was neutral. His navy blue hair made his cold face seem like an unreal nightmare.
To be honest, Chen Xi disliked him, maybe because of his coldness or his blue moods. His personality always made her mad at him, and unsure if she would do something to hurt him.
What a damn amnesiac! Chen Xi complained in heart. Although living here looked sweet, schemes and dangers were everywhere. Her parents didn’t tell her this, but she could certainly feel it from their shocking sights when they found she had lost all the martial arts and powers.
The fat mother still spoiled her as before. She cooked her nourishing foods everyday, and if possible, she bet the mother would bring her immortal pills as daily dishes. The father was concerned about her practicing, so when the rooster crowed, the servant would wake her up to let her practice all the powerful arts of the Shenlong Sword Clan.
Chen Xi was a homebody in modern society. She couldn’t run for a long time, let alone undertake the practice routine her father prepared for her. Each day she went back with a tired-out body, but her father was still unsatisfied.
Today after super, it was still bright. Chen Xi was again called by her father to the practice place in the back garden. But she was too full to walk faster than usual.
“Dad, we have practiced for a whole day. Are you tired? Why do we stop here?” But Chen Xi found her dad’s eyebrows twisted with worry upon hearing her words. Chen Xi felt a little sorry, so she tried another excuse. “I mean . . . I mean . . .” Her palm was full of sweat, and she finished the sentence finally, “. . . It is easy to get appendicitis if we have strenuous exercise so soon after dinner.”
“Appendicitis?” The clan leader had never heard this word before. He had heard the rumor from the servants and maids that the young leader had changed into another person. She forgot many things, but began to use some new terms they never heard before.
Chen Xi knew immediately that she had spoken a wrong word. She had figuratively jumped out of one pit by digging another one. Though the Baizi Kingdom enjoyed its own civilization, it was quite similar to ancient Chinese culture. People knew little about modern sciences. Maybe it was a retreat away from the world, or Brahma of the ancient Hinduism.
