The Demi-God's Adventure Chapter 8: "Gift of Assimilation"

The new cover is on the work. I apologize for the current one, I made it in a rush. I'll also try working on the other characters.

Chapter 8 - "Gift of Assimilation"

Cielsa's silver hair sways as I helped her stood up.

「Then I guess have no choice since you keep on insisting...」

Her cat-ears stood up in delight and she looked at me with her silver elated eyes.

「Thank you! Umm.. do you have something you want? Umm--」

「Arthur... My name is Arthur.」

I let off a small smile.

I slightly looked at the side and pondered.

「Something I want.... A grimoire would be nice」

Since almost all my magic spells are for attacking. I think having more knowledge for magic spells would be useful.

「... I can help you with that but, I don't know anything about grimoires. So if you won't mind you can come with me.」

「Of course.. but, where are we going?」

「To our mansion, Rojaoirte Residence. It's located at center part of the kingdom, also known as the "Noble Region"」

Cielsa and I walked towards the center of the kingdom.

The guild is located in-between the outer and inner part while the inn I am staying at is located at the inner part so I would probably pass by it on the way.

I stare Cielsa while walking.

She's wearing a green skirt and a white coat, she has a nice figure but she seems to be clumsy and frail.

I can feel something coming out from her body. I wonder what it is?

「.... Cielsa, what were you doing earlier in that alley? In this time of day.」

Dusk.

Silhouette of the birds flying across the sky that was now magenta can be seen.

Cielsa did not answer my question and remained silent, her ears dropped and looked dismal.

「Uh... sorry, I asked a question I shouldn't have.」

Cielsa shaked her head and her silver hair swayed.

「N-no, It's just that...」

Now I feel really bad,, I shouldn't have asked that.

「.... then, could you tell me what the Order of the Ragnar Knights is?」

Her ears stood up immediately as soon as she heard my question.

Her eyes also sparkled a bit.

「Yes~!... they are elite knights selected by the King himself! Currently, there are only 4 of them but each possess a great amount of strength..... I want to be part of them someday...」

Her last sentence lacked energy as if it is impossible to achieve.

I wonder if Enki is part of them, I think he's strong since he gave me this powerful grimoire.

「Hee... can you tell me more about the kingdom?」

She nodded and told me some things about the kingdom. Mostly, the greatness of the Ragnar Knights which is not what I wanted.

We reached the Rojaoirte Residence.

「We've arrived Arthur-san.」

In front of us was a large gate, you can tell from a glimpse that this is definitely a noble's house.

Two gatekeepers opened the gate and a mansion was now seen.

「Let's go.」

Cielsa led the way.

Even if it is almost night, you can still see the impressive well-maintained garden.

A guard opened the huge door to the mansion.

An impressive chandelier was hanging at the middle and the luxurious furnitures can be observed.

Below the chandelier are stairs leading up to the second floor.

I stopped looking around since I will be seen as an idiot.

「Oh my, Cielssama, We've been looking for you! Welcome back.」

「I'm sorry for worrying you, I'm back.」

An old man wearing suit with a long coat appeared at the second floor. Judging from her appearance, it seems that he's the butler of this household.

「And who might this young boy be?.... Perhaps, is he's your love-」

「N-NO!」

Cielsa's cheeks turned red before the butler could say the last word.

「H-he saved me e-earlier...」

「Hoo... Is that so..」

The butler turned his face towards me and grinned. Creepy..

He went down from the second floor to here.

「Well then, let me properly introduce myself. My name is Nigel, a butler working for the Rojaoirte Family. Pleased to meet you.」

Nigel bowed.

「Likewise, My name is Arthur le Vermillion.」

「You're a noble?」

Cielsa quickly turned her face towards me with a shocked look.

「N-no, we have these weird surnames in my country, might be because it is really far away from here. Hahaha.」

「I-I see...」

It seems that they were satisfied with my answer, do I have to stop using my surname?

「Umm... Nigel-san, Arthur-san and I have something to talk about s-so, we will be going.」

「... I understand, as expected of Cielssama, working hard to increase the population already. I am very prou-」

「Y-YOU IDIOT!」

Cielsa shouted and immediately went up the stairs.

It was a really awkward moment but I followed Cielsa going up the stairs,

There are alot of rooms at the second floor since it's spacious. I did not have the chance to look around inside the mansion so I only saw this much.

Cielsa opened a door that is unique from the others.

It's the library.

To the left is a sofa and a small round glass table and to the right are the books.

「This is our own libray, the grimoires are at somewhere here, you can select whatever you want.」

I looked around the library but I still can't figure out what to get. I shouldn't be greedy and just pick one since I only helped her a little..

After looking around for several minutes, a book emitting the same aura of the grimoire that Enki gave me. I took it and present it to Cielsa who was sitting at the sofa.

「This'll do...」

「Do you know how to open it? My father once told me how but I didn't have the chance to try it.」

「I actually learned to open a grimoire earlier, it's like this right?」

I released my mana like I did earlier.

The grimoire emitted the same amount of light, and it disappeared.

The spells are less than what I learned earlier but I think that my knowledge for magic greatly expanded.

「Y-you have the "Gift of Assimilation"?!! 」

Cielsa was surprisingly shouted and gave off a perplexed look.

「W-what?」

「That was a surprise.... They are very rare people who can learn grimoires instantly, as if they knew what was in it for a long time. The Great Wizard doesn't have it.」

She is giving me an appeased look and it's really uncomfortable.

「U-umm... Thank you for giving me the grimoire, I will be taking my leave now since it's getting late.」

「N-no, I should be thanking you for saving me earlier, if you need something again, please feel free to come here again.」

I nodded and left the room.

I was escorted by Nigel who was near the room. Was he eavesdropping?

「I really admire you, Arthur-san.」

「Heh?」

「I mean doing it at the library, which should be a place of silence. The shout earlier was really loud, did you do it so rough that Cielssama shouted like that?」

「W-what? N-no it's nothing like that.」

Nigel opened the door and I left.

I went to a an alley so that no one will be able to see me.

A purple portal was opened and I went inside it. I can only travel to places that I've been before but this is pretty useful.

I teleported at the front of the inn.

I was greeted by the inn staffs and quickly went up my room.

I'll try out my newly learned spells tomorrow. I can feel that I've learned some defensive magic, I've also learned alot of different magic

But before that, I'm gonna get some rest.
