The Defeated Dragon Chapter 220

Chapter 220 – The Enemy Has Surrendered

Since the snow had stopped last night, Swan had strolled the streets of Flower Town.

The snow on the road had been shoveled, revealing the gravel road. This gravel road was quite rough compared to the ones she has seen in the big cities. But for a small town, having a gravel road was already a bold move. No matter what country it was, most town roads were almost always dirt.

With a smile on their  faces, the patrol maintained order for the new serfs and began to distribute clothes.

After a while, serfs from various households began to deliver the prepared food to the residential area and provided it to the new serfs through a team organized by the town officials.

The food was generous, although it was only beans and dark bread, everyone was served with shellfish.

Swan had heard that this was seafood, a delicious food given by the sea to the Lord Liszt. Last night, she tasted the seafood and it tasted good. It is said that Flower Town relied on seafood to have  everyone live a full life. Judging from the look on civilian faces, she knew it was true.

Compared with the dishes often found in rural serf areas, the serfs here had adequate meals.

They all wore thick cotton clothes, smiled when they worked, and got a salary of one or two copper plates. It was hard to believe that such a lifestyle would appear in a rural town.

Not long after, she arrived in Wheat Town.

The chickens in the villages were clucking and the serfs were able to feed these small chickens with leftover breadcrumbs and some wheat bran.

She also passed a pig farm with more than a dozen fat pigs.

Everything showed that this is a wealthy town, not only is the castle rich, but also the town and the village farms.

“…Very peaceful countryside.”

She thought of her hometown, a village like this one also in a small town, but even more rundown. The local lords' taxes were too heavy, and they demanded too much, resulting in the serfs not eating enough. She didn't have enough food at home, and soon after, her parents, together,  planned to marry her to a lame old man in the village.

She was only fifteen years old.

The slinged old man was  already in his fifties, with wrinkles that could hold flies and looked like they could hang up at any time.

After gathering enough courage, she ran away from home early the next morning. When she was about to leave the village, she heard the serfs working in the village and singing hometown songs.

“My hometown was like this village. I was a native of that town. It doesn't look like it differs much in size…”

At that moment, tears flowed freely on her cheek, but she had no regrets.

Four years had passed.

Too much wrong has been done.

She finally had a chance to rewrite her future. When she heard that Steel Ridge Kingdom was going to war with Eagle Kingdom again, she set out to go home and pick up her family.

However, when she returned, the place was gone.

The hometown was not destroyed in the war, but was slaughtered by a group of mercenaries. Her parents' bodies have been eaten by wild dogs. However, she sensed that her little sister was still alive. So she pursued her all the way from Eagle Kingdom to the Grand Sapphire Duchy.

She finally found her sister in this rural town on a remote island.

“Good morning, Captain Swan.” Suddenly, a stuttering greeting ushered Swan back from the past to reality, she turned around and saw a little slave girl.

It was the little girl she had given a meal on the ship. "It's you."

The little female slave had changed into a cotton coat, which was a little big for her, but it looked very warm. Her face was washed, and her spirit was restored as well.

After the snake text greeting, she immediately changed to the wind language, and this time, the tone was also active. “Captain Swan, are you the Lord of Flower Town?”

Swan asked, “Do you like Flower Town?

“Uh-huh, I like the town of flowers. Mr. Brown and his wife are good people. I also met Anika. She is just like me, a serf who came by boat from another continent. She is already training with knights. Do you know how to cultivate qi? Big people like you must have fighting training. “

“Women slaves can also cultivate qi?”

“Yes, Anika asked her instructor, Lord Romm, and he said that all girls can go to that class. I can also practice fighting in a few days. You see, I want to be as powerful as Captain Swan.

“Don't you want to go home?”

“Home?” A little blankness appeared on the little slave girl's face, her head bowed, and she seemed to think of something, “….But, Leah has no home.”

But soon, she raised her head again. “Mr. and Mrs. Brown said, `Let Leah make Flower Town her home.' "

Swan was dumbfounded and laughed, “Let's make this home.”

——

Breakfast time.

Liszt habitually called for the smoke missions.

Although it was necessary to restrain the dependence on the smoke task, the smoke task was really easy to use. He couldn't help pondering on the smoke task every day.

To be able to catch destiny's tail, it is definitely necessary to give it a try regularly.

Opportunities are limited,so don't use it in vain.

However, this time, the smoke mission had a very drastic change. The misty snake text composed was no longer using the familiar words, and the snake text has only appeared once.

“The mission has changed.”

Immediately, a new smoke mission was released.

“Mission: The snow-covered Flower Town has workers that sweat every day. But they can't get enough hot water to wash themselves, and are easily infected with the wind and cold. The Lord should take this into consideration. Please build a bathhouse for each man and woman. Reward: a new species of flame mushroom.”

The monkeys hadn't even bought it yet.

The task was obviously not completed, but now it has changed.

Liszt recalled the original mission of “The Diary of Philip Sunprogeny”, which did not lead Phil and Jesse to form a father and son contract even up to now. But he searched Phil's leathersmith's shop and got a diary that would have been awarded to him if he had done so, and the mission changed immediately.

This time, it was likely that the same reason has caused the task to change.

“The smoke task is a reminder that the task has changed, not the task failed. Is the thief rewarded for me already in place?”

He thought of the possibility that it might be Swan.

However, he felt that the progress was too fast. He was very entangled with the invisible female mercenary. Her value is definitely there. The stealth skill alone was worth it. But there are also hidden dangers. Killing nobles while also having unknown origins, it was all taboo.

So he was ready for a long war, but he never expected that the other side would quickly give in.

This made him sigh, "Alas, I thought I was going for the boss,  but I didn't expect it to be just like an animated show." He picked up Mrs. Abby's  new “invention”, steamed buns, smeared it with beef sauce and mustard, then took a bite.

It was dry and hard.

It's not as soft as a real steamed bun. It needs improvement.

“Regardless of Swan's intentions, the original plan will continue to be carried out. The investigation of her background must also be speeded up … The construction of the two bathhouses must begin immediately. I just designed the hot bathtub and the smog task changed just in time for me to build the bathhouse.”

The bathhouse definitely needs to be built. The task reward was a new breed of fire mushroom and needless to say, it will bring about an enhanced version of the Flame Mushroom Potion.
