The Defeated Dragon Chapter 208

Chapter 208 – Captain Swan

Wiping off the tears of the slave girl with her thumb, the owner of the hand said in a husky voice, “Get up.”

The little slave looked up and saw a face covered with a face scarf, her hair messy and her face scarf dirty. But her pair of eyes that were exposed were so bright that the little girls struggled to keep hers open.

She was wearing years-old leather armor with the edges worn out. Behind her was a large sword with a rag wrapped around the hilt. Her breasts were squeezed by the leather armor. Due to the squatting and her knees being squeezed it broke the leather armor's thread head.

After wiping away the tears of the little girl, she stood up.

She was tall.

Her dress was ugly, but she had a strange wild temperament. It made the little girl remember the mercenaries who raided their villages, killing, robbing, which caused her to be separated from her family and sent her off to the slave market. According to the other serfs in the market, these kinds of people were evil.

The woman in front of her did look like a mercenary.

“Ahhh….” Frightened, the little girl seemed to immediately have strength to get up from the ground and apologized in a panic, “Sorry, Maam.. I didn't…I didn't fall on purpose.”

The maid looked at her, and her hoarse voice was heard again. “You did nothing wrong, why apologize?”

“I …” The little slave girl didn't know how to answer. She panicked again and wanted to cry.

“Follow me.”

The maid said in an authoritative tone, turning around and leaving the cabin. The little girl hesitated, but did not dare not to follow the maid. She lowered her head and did not even dare to look at the maid's back.

The mercenary seemed to be walking towards the cafeteria.

On the way.

She suddenly said in a hoarse voice, “Girls must learn to be strong, especially when walking alone.”

The little slave girl didn't know how to answer, but it seemed that the maid did not expect her to answer anyway.  They arrived in the cafeteria in a flash. The mercenary pushed through the crowd of serfs, brought the little slave girl to the dining window and shouted, “Fat Jack, give her a meal!”

“Ah, yes, Captain Swan.”

While talking, the mercenary had turned around and was about to leave.

The little female slave stood in front of the window, wondering whether it was time to have a meal or to follow the maid. Just then, Fat Jack the cook, stuffed a half-decent piece of food into her arms with a wooden dish. “Here, I don't know what's gotten into Captain Swan, she's feeding the serfs again.”

With a fragrant meal, the little slave girl felt like crying again, but this time for happiness.

She had a meal today, she had never felt so full before.

In a mosquito-like voice, she whispered, “Thank you.” She didn't know if she was talking to Fat Jack or Captain Swan.

Crouched in the corner of the deck eating food mixed with beans and flour, she firmly remembered the name “Captain Swan”. She didn't understand the difference between 'maid' and 'captain' in snake language, but only remembered the pronunciation that Fat Jack uttered.

——-

"So Captain Swan has a soft spot for little girls?"

On the bow deck, the mercenary faced the blowing sea breeze. The second mate on the ship stepped forward and asked elegantly.

“Why not?”

“Of course there's no problem with that. On the contrary, such a move is heart-warming. I can see that under the tough mask of Captain Swan, there lies a soft feminine heart.”

The maid didn't answer and just continued looking out on the water.

The second mate refused to give up and said, “I saw you help several of these little slave girls. Are you helping because you see your own shadow in them? People always remember their past.. Was your childhood like that? … I'm sorry, I didn't mean to mention it, I just wanted to know more about Captain Swan. “

Moments passed.

Just when the second mate thought he had failed to keep the conversation going, the maid looked at the seagulls at sea and opened her mouth slowly. “I have a sister whom I have not seen for four years. If she is still alive, she would be of the same age as that little slave girl. “

“So it turns out that you were separated from your family, it is……”

She didn't wait for the second mate to continue.

The maid suddenly changed her tone, impatient, she said, “Now that you've satisfied your curiosity, can you leave?”

“Ah, don't do that, Captain Swan, I know you're in a bad mood.” The second mate said, reaching out and was about to pat her shoulder, “I just want to comfort you, or I can lend you my shoulder … “

But she didn't wait for his hand to touch her shoulder.

The mercenary suddenly made an elbow hit and threw the second mate two meters away. “Go!”

“You!” The second mate was angry.

He was greeted by the maid's cold hard eyes and with her hoarse voice she said. "If you don't want to die, don't bother me again. I don't think the captain would mind if I threw out some bodies at sea."

The second mate was angry. He got back, rubbed his chest, and reluctantly walked down the deck.

After entering the cabin where the sailors rested, he was immediately ridiculed by a group of disheveled sailors. "Spike, look! Your best performance yet!"

“Haha, even with your large face, you dared to provoke Captain Swan and laugh.”

“Don't lose heart, Spike. You've been in there two minutes longer than Fox.”

"I'm not willing to gamble just to lose. Spike didn't even try to talk for more than five minutes, I just lost money with my eyes open!"

“To celebrate Spike's failure, I have decided to take another sip of gin, haha!”

——

The sailors in the cabin laughed rudely.

The maid didn't hear it. She lay on the railing of the deck, watching the bow break the waves. Her thoughts drifted away: “Coral Island … Flower Town … Little Maggie …”

Meanwhile.

While she was staring at the open water.

In the castle, the white-haired butler Carter approached his Lord Baron who was  preoccupied creating the historical epic chapter of “The War of the Dragons in the Wild” and said, “Master, I have something you should be happy to hear.”

“What's up?” Liszt, who was creating a piece of historical material “Evil Fire Dragon and Mighty Dragon Knight fought in the Bibo Sea Ten Thousand Years Ago", asked without looking up.

“The trainee maid Maggie has agreed on the contract with Mrs. Harriet of the grocery store".

The news was about Maggie.

Liszt put aside the quill pen, raised his eyebrows and asked, , “So, do the Harriets plan to take Maggie back and make her stop the internship?” “Maggie was involved in the smoke mission clues. Liszt had to take some excuses to bring Maggie to his side.

He was not going to let go of Maggie casually.

Carter's answer gave him a sigh of relief. “Of course not, sir, working in a castle is an extremely glorious thing for civilians. The Harriet family can't bear to loose such a good opportunity.”

“Well, Mr. Carter, you congratulate Maggie for me. By the way, is she still here for her afternoon internship? “

“There was no news of a leave, so she should have a normal internship this afternoon. “

“Well, give her a grilled steak for dinner. "

“As you wish.”
