The Defeated Dragon Chapter 195

Chapter 195 – The War of the Dragons

Give a stick and then a sweet date. [1]

There was no easy way for Liszt to do it. This world has vast resources, but now, those resources were limited and one would have many competitions.

Liszt could not develop on Coral Island without competing for resources and channels.

Kindness is for the common people, while plundering resources is the essence of the aristocracy. Obviously, Liszt now adapts to the identity of the nobility and their rules of conduct.

After reminding Sherlock, he kept his thoughts under control and stopped paying attention — he still had Mithril, Crystal, Jade and black pearls in hand. If he sold a little, he could get a lot of gold coins.

"Gold coins are in hand. I have them everywhere."

Why focus on one or two small businesses?

Carter took away the milk tea cup and closed the door, leaving the study room completely quiet. The light from the three crystal lights converged, and the room was as bright as daylight.

He opened the knight's novel and continued his writing until Carter knocked on the door again, reminding him that it was getting late.

“I'm going to rest now, Mr. Carter. You should also rest early, good night.”

 “Good night, sir.”

He shook the thick paper on the table where he had written a pile of snake-text characters. He then closed the knight's novel and put it back on the shelf.

Looking at the small prints written with quill pens, he felt a sense of accomplishment.

As a visitor of a civilized world, his knowledge in its culture and history was a desert. So he planned to write in his own handwriting a truly timeless book—he had an idea like this before to write a sociological book, but it was never put into action.

But now,he has moved the pen.

Of course, Liszt  wouldn't write any sociological books like 'Das Kapital'.[2]

He intends to compile a chronicle based on the history and customs of various countries involved in Knight novels.

Master Confucius revised the important events recorded by Lu's [3] officials into the Confucian classic “Spring and Autumn”, which influenced Chinese values for thousands of years. Confucius himself has also become a saint of a generation, both toppled and reborn, and has become one of the symbols of Chinese culture.

Liszt thought he should have a bigger dream after he would successfully ride a dragon.

His work won't be celebrated until a hundred years later. Once it would be written in a version similar to that of the Spring and Autumn Annals, it can endure for thousands of years and would influence the generations to come.

Of course.

Liszt would have no way to replicate the historical text " Spring and Autumn", which is based on historical records – he has no strong grasp of this place's history, and no history book to base on.

He compiled the history based on the content of Knight's novels, more like writing Homer's Epics. Most of Homer's Epics are based on myths, folklore, and street songs, but they did not hinder Homer's work to be hailed as a timeless work of the Greek civilization.

It was sort of boosting history.

Maybe a few years later, Liszt and his dragons will vanish. The world would be  developed, and through all kinds of changes, some people will regard this book of history that he has written now as true history.

Inventing history?

That was exactly what Liszt was doing and he found it to be very exciting.

“Unfortunately, there are too few materials to base on. Even if I would copy all the ridiculous stories of Knight's novels, there is no way to fill in the gaps in history … This book may be my lifetime story.”

He even suspected that he could only keep the heat for three minutes when he would write his own book.

After all.

It's very laborious to make a story, no, to record history.

“Now, the book has no name yet. I have to think of a name that can go down for ages…..It would best be called “The Dragonlance Chronicles.” As Liszt pondered, he remembered a wizard named Odom Truth wrote a book called The Dragonlance Chronicles: The Dragon of Twilight.

The book would be a record of the dragon species , and would not be related to history.

He came up with other names in his mind such as – Dragon History, Sprites and Dragon History, Dragon and Sprite Chronicles, Dragon Riding History, Knight Chronicle and so on.

But they were all rejected one by one.

Until another title came up.

"The War of the Dragons in the Wild…"

He chewed out the words and he liked how it sounds. Confucius revised the historical materials of the Kingdom of Shandong, named Spring and Autumn because the historical materials were recorded in four seasons, namely, spring, summer, autumn and winter. In this world, the battle of the Dragon occurs frequently, and the state-to-state battle is also dominated by the battle of the Dragons.

"The War of the Dragons" has a very rich style.

Aha!

Lifting the quill, he wrote the title of the book directly on the thick paper. After writing, he put all the thick paper into the gem space to prevent it from being decayed by the years. The white paper is not ready for research and development, and the thick paper cannot be stored for a long time. After all, this history book would be his life's work.

He held on to his ambition of creating history.

Liszt then got up to stretch outside his study.

———-

Just a few days after, Liszt made history.

Under Burnell's leadership, the soap-making workshops were producing Flower Soaps everyday at full capacity.  Other types of soaps have been forgotten in the corner. Expensive soap powder and cheap pig pancreas were continuously refined, mixed, and then pressed into pieces of pink, fragrant flower soap.

The finished flower soaps were then quickly sent to the Thorns Caravan.

Sherlock is a very thoughtful businessman. With Old Grandet rising to the ranks, Abagon taking over the huge Flower Caravan, he was still left in the Thorns Caravan. He was unwilling to fall behind, so he spent a lot of time selling Flower Soap and tried to become famous.

The Lord has to see his abilities.

To do so, he invited a sculptor from North Valley City. A working-class carpenter who carved exquisite patterns on wood.

He asked the sculptor to carve a tulip on the front of the soap, and then to carve the word “Flower Soap” in Snake Language.

On the back, a small line of snake inscriptions was carved: “Flower Town Special Flower Soap, Product of Soap Master Burnell.”

Then he asked the town's carpenters to make soap boxes with a black tulip and the name of the soap.

Through this, the quality of the Flower Soap immediately raised by several degrees.

“In this way, Flower Soap is not just a soap, but a product of identity, and I believe that the nobles will love it!” Sherlock presented his beautifully packaged soap to Liszt for review. As expected, Liszt highly praised it.

The Lord also called him “a natural business man”.

The excitement was always swirling around Sherlock, who could not wait to visit the nobles in North Valley, carrying the fine bouquets under the banner of Liszt.

"To the most honorable Lord Gelt! Burnell, Flower Town's Great Craftsman has made the most perfect bath soap. It has the best cleaning effect and it'll be the top soap in the markets! We hope you will feel its charm, and we hope you'll enjoy this as a gift to you, along with a bouquet of flowers."

[1] I think this has the same meaning as 'carrot and stick'.
