The Defeated Dragon Chapter 154

Chapter 154 – Correct Your Work Attitude

"… I want to buy Tremblingwoods…"

"… I want to make Tremblingwoods into a magical equipment…"

Liszt contemplated if he should just let go of Tremblingwoods' leash and let it teach Glanny how to be human, let him know that a mid-level monster is not something a wizard can easily get his hands on.

The guests and host all sat in the castle living room.

Perhaps it was the fame brought by the “hermit” status or that their magic is clearly powerful, that gave the wizard a high status in society, allowing him to belong to the upper and middle classes and eligible to enter the second floor of the castle.

“Is this the famous ice cream of Tulip Castle that you allegedly invented?” When the servant arrived to serve the ice cream, Glanny was attracted by the very different colors.

Ice cream was regarded to be a high-end delicacy. Since a lot of ice was needed to produce even small amounts of ice cream, an average person simply could not possibly afford to eat it.

“Try it. Along with Flower Town of Coral Island, only Tulip Castle, Falcon Town, Beer Castle, and Crushed Castle can eat this frozen deliciousness.” Liszt sold the recipe to four people, Levis, Lvera, Aubrey Wildhop and Brandon Gravel.

Other nobles wanted to buy the recipe but couldn't produce the money.

Granny lifted the cup and tasted the ice cream, “Oh, it's funny, this food was not made through magic, just naturally. How is it made then ?”

"The ice cream recipe is highly valuable."

"I wasn't referring to the ice cream recipe, Sir Baron. I am curious as to where the ice came from. With the small size of your castle, it must be impossible to have an ice cellar underneath it."

Making ice from saltpeter was not a secret, hence it was no use withholding the information. However, the way Glanny was delivering his inquiries made Liszt uncomfortable so he came up with a different response, "Mr. Glanny, you know I invited you to Flower Town to create a magical equipment and teach me the art of magic, not the other way around. I hope you can realign your thoughts."

Glanny scooped more ice cream from his cup and said, “It is a wizard's nature to always search for the truth. We are experiencing a warm weather on the island and even I found ice-based magic to be difficult to cast, let alone use natural means to make ice. This information is significant. I hope you can teach me the ways. “

“Teaching knowledge requires money.”

“How many coins?”

Looking at the wizard's posture, one could tell that he actually was willing to pay in gold  in exchange for the simple information of how to make ice from saltpeter.

Liszt's eyes wandered for a moment and he came up with a plan, " I have no need of your gold. But since I can tell that you really want answers, I'll make you a deal. Finish the tasks I have required of you and I will tell you how to make ice. "

Glanny frowned, " I don't like working with uncertainty."

"You can get rid of your doubts as soon as possible by completing the tasks I gave you, with high quality results, of course. " Liszt said politely as he had figured out how to deal with the wizard. They were in Flower Town, which is his territory. The Wizard can't shake him here.

“Well, let's talk about work then.  So you need me to make a magical equipment out of the black pearl?”

“Thomas, go and bring out the black pearls from the cabinet in my study.” Immediately , Thomas went into the study, took out the huge black pearls from the jewel space where they were shoved.

Thomas quickly carried the black pearls to the living room.

The pearls were set on the table. The black pearl was not exactly a thing of beauty. It wasn't perfectly circular for it had gaps in the surface. But it was exactly to Liszt's liking, and for Glanny Truth, it was perfect, for he has never seen a pearl as big as this one. “It's incredible, incredible! Amazing! It's amazing how big this black pearl is!”

He rubbed the black pearl with his hands , “The waters where this pearl was found must have been rich in magic. It must have been born in the deep sea. Oh, I can feel its rich history! I feel that it has existed for hundreds of years ! “

“Do you think it can be used as a magical equipment to suppress storms?”

“Of course, in fact, it is even better than I thought. It is the best material for creating magical equipment … however there are some necessary materials I failed to bring with me. I have to procure them first.”

“You're leaving now?”

“No, no, no, no, I don't have to leave. I can just make a list and have Charlie acquire the contents. We're just lacking some accessories, the core material is already here. “

Charlie was the thin wizard apprentice.

Glanny happily got up, took a paper and pen and started writing.  He wrote a letter to his fellow wizard that lives near Coral City. He then gave Charlie the letter and had his apprentice leave immediately with the Flower Caravan.

“Baron Liszt, I need a separate work space. It takes a long time to make a magical equipment, especially one of this kind.”

“There are a lot of new houses in town. You can pick one.” Liszt stood up. “I'll now take you to town then you can pick your room.”

Glanny didn't bring a horse since he can't ride one, so Liszt had a servant take Glanny to town.

Glanny's eyes couldn't stop wandering. He saw vast tracts of empty spaces, spaces with ongoing constructions including drains, rims, green belts but were already in the final stages . Some of the houses have been knocked down and replaced by neat rows of new houses.

At this time, most of the serfs were carrying stones to the docks. On the workshops , however, the serfs were loaded with work.

“Here … there's no … feces?” He looked for a long time and he was surprised.

“It is forbidden to urinate anywhere in Flower Town. There are toilets built here for all residents to use.” Gort, who has just arrived, answered him. “Mr. Glanny, it's been a long time. I hope you're liking Flower Town so far. The environment here is more beautiful than Coral City. “

"I admit the streets are cleaner here, but Flower Town is too remote and far behind Coral City in terms of prosperity."

“It depends on how you see it. There are no brothels, casinos or pubs here in Flower Town, therefore life is calmer. After all, Flower Town is just a small town. ” Gort shrugged his shoulders, “Get used to its serenity, and you're sure to fall in love with this place. But of course, a night of idleness will be hard for you at first."

Freya's been pregnant for more than four months  now.

Liszt told him, “Take good care of Freya, adviser Gort.” If Liszt didn't remind him of Freya's condition, maybe Gort would have looked for another girl in town to flirt with.

Gort laughed, “Of course.”

They walked back and forth around town then to the castle.

Glanny wasn't able to choose a house to his liking. He said to Liszt, "My job needs peace and quiet, Baron Liszt. The construction noise  in town is too much and not suitable, please provide me with a house in a remote area.” Glanny liked the bustling city , but his work needs a quiet ambiance, so Gort decided for him to retreat to Wheat Village.

“That being the case, adviser Gort, you can choose the house for Mr. Glanny in Wheat Village as his residence and studio.”

“As you wish.”
