October ignored the burning and curious gaze of Yun Xixi toward her. She was more focused on the packed box in front of her. She took hold of it and opened it to see sliced apples neatly placed in it. A flash passed across her eyes, it was so fast that Yun Xixi was not able to see. 

October then ate all the food and finished her sliced apples swiftly. After that, she excused herself and went back to her office. 

October's fast-paced eating made Yun Xixi very surprised. She was not able to react until she saw her boss with an almost unnoticeable frown on her face while touching her stomach. 

Yun Xixi then made an attempt to quicken her eating but then choked on her piece of chicken. Her eyes watered and her little face reddened as she coughed so hard. She quickly grabbed her bottle of water and drank from it in big gulps. 

"Ha! I thought I was going to die!" Yun Xixi really thought that she was really going to die. She placed her hand over her chest to try to calm her erratic heart. She then wiped her teary eyes and heaved a deep sigh. She thought of how can her boss eat in such a way as if she was not chewing her food. Also, the food she ate was somehow more than she usually eats. But then again, it was her boss so it was a given that she can do things that most people cannot do. 

Yun Xixi's admiration toward her boss increased exponentially. Her boss was someone who she thought as an almost otherwordly person. However, she was still down to earth, reminding everyone that she was a human being.

October, on the other hand, was extremely oblivious of the bizarre thought process of her secretary. If she knew, well, she would really rather not know about it. 

Meanwhile, in October's office, she was so focused in reading the doc.u.ment that was sent by Director Kang to her. So far, she did not see anything that she disagreed with the suggested expense amount that Director Kang wrote. This made October praise her female senior. 

October thought and have decided that she needed to improve her work to have a more accurate proposal. It would be tough but for her, that much was a given and it would be more interesting to work with.

Ring.

October's phone rang. She grabbed her phone from the furthur side of her table. When she looked at the caller ID, the number calling her was not saved in her phone. But after considering to answer it or not, she chose to answer it. 

"Hello." October's voice sounded calm, but it was too calm that her voice was almost lifeless.

"Hi dear. Did I perhaps disturb you?" Mother Song asked coolly as she comfortably sat at the back of her car. She looked poised and regal and with every movement she does, it was filled with elegance.

"...Mother--" 

"Mm. I think I did not." Mother Song cut off October as she nonchalantly nodded her head, making October's brow to twitch. 

Why did her mother-in-law call her all of a sudden?

"Anyway, be home early today, okay? I will be visiting your residence today." Mother Song said with a hint of a smile on her lips. No matter, she was greatly looking forward to doing stuff with her daughter-in-law that she had never done before with her son. 

Mother Song harrumphed as she thought of her cold, cunning, and ruthless son who does not care nuch with his parents. They might have unknowingly contributed to his personality but isn't that a bit too much?  That stupid son! So stupid! 

"Okay mother. I will do as you say." October complied as she said thay with great respect to her mother-in-law. Just that, even though she might be calm on the outside and her tone of voice was even, she was still quite surprised to hear that her mother-in-law was coming to visit them. "When will you be arriving? I'll come to pick you up at the airport."

"Oh no, dear. There's no need for you to do that." Mother Song chuckled lightly as she felt her chest warm. Despite her son being cold and stupid, he was still good that he found such a rare gem that he immediately snatched. If her son will let go of her, then her son is just plain stupid.

"I'm already at City D. I just arrived a few moments ago and I am already on my way to your husband's company." Mother Song added with a light teasing tone and turned sideways to look at the tall buildings through the window of her car.

October was given another surprise. Her mother-in-law really is such a whimsical woman but remained cool, calm and just downright gorgeous.

Still, does her mother-in-law have to tease her and say "your husband?" October felt her face getting hot that she had to fan herself. However, that was the only reaction she showed after that and it immediately vanished after a few seconds.

"Well then, mother, I will see you later this afternoon. I will finish my work quickly and go home earlier so I can accompany." October said. Her eyes then wandered and landed unconsciously on the designs on her table thay was given to her by her mother-in-law. 

"My. That would be wonderful, dear. Then I will be looking forward to see you." Mother Song chuckled as her face softened at the attitude her daughter-in-law was showing to her. She can already tell that aside from her daughter-in-law being strong and independent, she was also well-cultured, level-headed, graceful, respectful, down-to-earth...the list just goes on. 

Mother Song's eyes glinted darkly as she thought to herself, I don't know what that stupid son of mine did to get this almost perfect daughter-in-law for us but he did a good...very good job to it. My son's eyes is really quite a gem, just like mine. Also, having a grandchild almost immediately was the greatest news she had ever heard. I am so greatly satisfied with my daughter-in-law.

"Mother?" 

"Oh my." Mother Song covered her lips and lightly chuckled when she realized that she was caught daydreaming by her daughter-in-law. "Well then, child, I will see you in a while."

"Yes, mother." October nodded and the call ended right after that.
