The CEO's Lovely Wife Chapter 120 - 120 The Call

"Xixi, do you think I will fire you?" October asked helplessly, still massaging her temple. She felt so under the weather right now. Her stomach felt so empty and her head is so light. And now, she has to deal with her crying secretary. Yes, her secretary was still cute while crying. She does not know if this was normal though. However, it was pitifully cute to her that she could not stop herself from teasing her. Well, it was starting to irritate her but she shook her head in disbelief as she could not believe that her secretary would think that she would fire her without any reason. What does her secretary see her for?

"..." Yun Xixi pursed her lips while gazing at her boss' unblemished face with watery eyes. She did not answer. She could not answer. 

"Do you think I'll just unreasonably fire someone? Am I that kind of person, Xixi?" Asked October. She then crossed her arms over her chest, slightly c.o.c.king her brow at Xixi.

Yun Xixi stared at October and became thoughtful after what her boss just said. After some time, she shook her head rapidly. 

"If you know, then you are thinking too much." October sighed again. Her secretary has quite a peculiar personality that even her train of thoughts were things October could probably not grasp at all. 

Nodding her head, Yun Xixi finally realized that she just jumped to conclusions immediately. Her boss just said those praises to her but that does mean that her services were over, right? Yes, that must be it. 

Relief then washed over Yun Xixi as she wiped her tears and snot with the tissues that October good-naturedly gave her. After that, her eyes were now back to being bright and glowing. Her cheeks were flushed, her nose are red and her eyes were puffy. When October saw this, she found it funny but she still remained blank-faced and kept herself silent in order for Yun Xixi continue what she was saying. 

"I am very sorry, Director! I promise I will work even harder in order for you to not be disappointed of me." Yun Xixi deeply bowed her head in a fl.u.s.ter. After that, she straightened her back and flashed a dazzling smile. It was so pure and innocent that felt like that smile has such a healing effect on October. 

"Good. If there's nothing else, you can now go continue your work." October nonchalantly said and then pointed on the stocked pile of papers at the corner of her table. "Also, please have these shredded while you are at it."

"Yes, Director. Well then, I'll be leaving now." Yun Xixi slightly bowed her head. She then carried the doc.u.ments for shredding and skidded out of the office while softly closing the door behind her. 

Finally, the office of October went back to a comfortable silence. However, this did not last long as her phone rang loudly from her bag. Her cold eyes instantly turned to her bag and went to grab her phone from it and answered the call without checking who the caller was. 

"Hello." October coldly answered, without any emotion on her voice as it remained in a flat tone. She was just answering her phone like it was nothing special at all and did not expect much from the caller and remained to be talking in her business-like voice.

"Hey, hey, Berry~! Your dashing  prince  is back. Miss me? Yes, I know you do."

Ma Rong's jolly voice blared loudly from the other end of the phone followed with his laugh. He remained aloof and bright like he always does as if he will never run out of energy. In all honesty, October felt drained whenever she was with Ma Rong.

"Rong'er...so it's you." October said, her voice lowered and cold. 

"Hey! What's with that? Why do I feel like you are disappointed that it was me?" Ma Rong exclaimed, a bit hurt. 

October, on the other hand, wanted to abruptly answer "Yes" but was in time to stop herself from uttering it. If she did, this guy would definitely pester her more than he already did. For her, she does not have any energy anymore to deal with him and so wanted to end the call immediately. "If you don't have anything important to say, I will end the call. I still have work." 

With that, she ended the call with a sigh. Since she entered her office, she still has to start working but people just won't let her work in silence. She then took a deep breath and adjusted her mind to focus with her work.

Riiiiing....riiing....ri-

October asnwered her phone in anger and exploded with a snap," Rong'er, if you don't have anything else to say, then don't disturb me!"

Clearly, October was angry and had just literally exploded. She wanted to work in peace. How can her simple wish won't be granted so easily?

"It's me." 

"Ah." October's eyes went wide as soon as she heard his voice. However, his usually sweet and gruff voice were now dropped and colder than before. It was so eerie and just dangerous. She paused and looked at her phone and it read as "Dear Husband" with a heart sign at the end. She did not remember having his number saved with a name like this; however, that was not important now as she can feel the anger building up from the other end of the phone. She swallowed a nonexistent lump in her dry throat and called hesitantly, "Ha..hubby..."

"Hmph!" Lexus snorted coldly with derision. "It's good that you know that you already have me, your husband. Also, I already told you that you can't talk with that Ma Chong bas-..guy!" 

Lexus' face was dark as his eyes glinted a dangerous and eerie glimmer, making Assistant Yu who was standing beside him to shiver in fear. 

Now his boss had gone crazy again. He wanted to run but he knew that it would be bad if he would really do that. There might be consequences that he does not know that would come to his way and so it would be better for him to just lessen his presence in this cold and dangerous room.

However, boss, I think it would be bad for you if you snap like that to your wife. Assistant Yu thought as he looked at his young master's darkening face. 

October frowned at this. She was greatly displeased at the tone that Lexus used to her. It was as if she had cheated on him. Even if the man was known to be a tyrant and merciless, to the extent of calling Lexus as "demon" because of his terrifying personality, but she did not care about that and was never afraid to confront him in the least. 

"I have the right to choose who I want to befriend. It is not your time to do so." Ye, he may be right that she was her husband but he does not have to control her that he would even forbid her in contacting Ma Rong. He was the only friend she geniunely had, despite the fact that he had runaway from home without even telling her about it, still, she considered Ma Rong her family. 

Lexus felt like he was stabbed straight into his chest at October's words. And from the sound of it, she was greatly angered at this. But in spite of that, he still can't control his rising anger, hatred, and flaring jealousy from this.

Rong'er, Rong'er, Rong'er! Who the f*ck is that bastard? Lexus was beyoond himself as his eyes were filled with bloodl.u.s.t and his breathing hitched. Unknown to him, his fists were clenched tightly that it had turned white and blue and was shaking tremendously.
