"Huh? Me, a bastard? You must be mad!" Gong Yu kicked the handbag that Murong Yunxi threw. Even though he didn't use much force, he was nonetheless trained in martial arts. The tattered handbag flew out, scattering all of its contents on the ground.

Seeing this made Gong Yu feel a stab of regret. Still, he was unhappy. He turned around and entered the house with his luggage.

The sense of feeling wronged surged inside Murong Yunxi. Her emotions were a complete mess. Tears started spilling from her eyes. She squatted down, hugged her legs, and started sobbing out loud.

Mrs. Wang immediately ran out of the house after hearing the commotion outside. When she saw the disastrous scene and Murong Yunxi crying on the ground, she knew this was likely an argument between the couple.

Still, she was just a servant and it wasn't her place to comment. After all, it was considered impropriety to poke her nose into her master's business. She quietly squatted down, picked up the items scattered on the ground, and carried them inside the house.

The more Murong Yunxi cried, the more aggrieved she felt. The more aggrieved she felt, the louder she sobbed. In the end, she collapsed on the ground and wailed without caring for appearances. Her tears were so loud that the sound reached the first floor.

Gong Yu felt immense heartache after hearing her cry. He walked to the window, where he saw Murong Yunxi sobbing her heart out. He felt terribly vexed but couldn't put down his ego. So he hid behind the curtain and watched. The longer he watched, the more anxious and pained he became. He suffered terribly from his hesitation and complex emotions.

Finally, he could bear it no longer. Just as he was about to turn around and run downstairs, he saw Murong Ye returning home after work.

Murong Ye's expression instantly turned ice-cold after seeing Murong Yunxi in such a state. His dark-as-pot face became exceptionally unsightly. He walked up to Murong Yunxi and pulled her into his embrace, coaxing her with a gentle voice.

"What happened, Xiao Xi? Why all the tears?" Murong Ye's voice was unbelievably soft. Likely, he had never been this gentle in his entire life. Anyone who heard him would feel their heart soften.

"Brother…" Murong Yunxi wailed and fell head-first into his embrace, expressing all of her grievances with deafening tears. Even though she was a crier, she only ever remembered crying this hard in her childhood. This would be her first as an adult.

Murong Yunxi wiped her tears and snot on Murong Ye's custom-made Western suit as she cried. That shockingly expensive suit could be considered as having suffered an honorable death. Of course, Murong Ye didn't care about this. What he cared about was how badly Murong Yunxi was sobbing. Just how much had she suffered!

"Xiao Xi, tell me who bullied you. I promise I won't let him off! I'll take his ribs and rip off his skin. I'll make sure he cries as badly as you did." Murong Ye had no experience comforting someone, but seeing Murong Yunxi in such a state made him stubbornly use all the literary skills at his disposal to comfort her.

"Brother…" Murong Yunxi sobbed so hard that she couldn't form words. She was even beginning to have trouble catching her breath or speaking.

"Enough. Xiao Xi, don't cry anymore. Tell me who bullied you!"

"Gong Yu, he…"

Hearing the words "Gong Yu" turned Murong Ye's expression as dark as the bottom of a scorched pan. He glared in the direction of Murong Yunxi's room on the first floor and shouted, "Gong Yu, you asshole! Come down here!"

Murong Ye's sudden reversal in character startled Murong Yunxi. She had never seen him lose his temper so drastically in front of her. Moreover, he was even using expletives that rarely left his mouth. She was so shocked that she forgot to cry. With her puffy, red eyes, she stared at Murong Ye in astonishment.

Gong Yu had been planning on going downstairs in the first place and only stopped after seeing Murong Ye return. Now that Murong Ye was shouting for him, he had no choice but to keep climbing down the stairs.

He reached the door in just several steps. When the door opened, his own expression was also a sight to look at! Of course, his expression wasn't dark because of anger. Rather, he was regretting his recklessness earlier. That was his first time ever treating Murong Yunxi in such a manner. Earlier, anger had gotten the best of him.

"You! Come over here!" Murong Ye immediately ordered him over. If looks could kill, Gong Yu would have been dead thousand times by now. Murong Ye's glare was terrifying enough to make people tremble. Fortunately for Gong Yu, his mental fortitude was beyond that of an ordinary human, allowing him to escape the fate of getting so scared that he wet his pants.

Murong Yunxi was still staring at Murong Ye in astonishment. Hearing him shout at Gong Yu a second time, she shot Gong Yu a glance. The moment her eyes met Gong Yu's; his heart instantly turned to mush. Earlier, he merely saw her crying bitterly. Standing at such a distance, he could now see her red and puffy eyes. There were still tears gathered in the rim of her eyes. Her kicked-puppy look made him feel like a bastard.

Murong Ye's anger exploded after seeing Gong Yu standing in a daze. His ice-cold gaze, intense enough to entrap someone, showed itself again. Murong Yunxi couldn't help feeling startled and she became afraid that he would do something to Gong Yu. She carefully watched Murong Ye's every movement, preparing to throw herself at him the moment it looked like he was going to hit Gong Yu.

"Come here!" Murong Ye spat out two words from his mouth, and every word was accompanied by an audible teeth-gritting sound.

Gong Yu walked over to them until he was in front of Murong Ye. He lowered his head to look at Murong Yunxi.

Murong Ye suddenly stood up and grabbed Gong Yu's shoulders. He used so much force that it seemed like he was trying to crush Gong Yu's bones. Fortunately, Gong Yu had a sturdy body.

"I don't care what methods you use. I'm leaving this to you. I won't tolerate seeing her shed another tear," Murong Ye said. He walked past Gong Yu and entered the house with large strides.

Even though Murong Ye was a terrible siscon who felt a deep heartache for Murong Yunxi, he was utterly incompetent at coaxing women. He could only toss this problem back to the culprit.

Gong Yu lowered his body and placed his hands on Murong Yunxi's arms. "Come, stand up."

Murong Yunxi shot him a hateful glare and pushed him away. She stood up and entered the house with large strides.

Gong Yu shook his head helplessly. He got back to his feet and walked into the house as well.

Murong Yunxi took large strides as she climbed upstairs and returned to her room, slamming the door loudly.

Gong Yu paused just before he walked up the stairway. Right now, he felt terribly awkward as if he was an outsider being ostracized.

Even though Murong Yunxi had slammed the door loudly, her anger had mostly dissipated by then.

Gong Yu walked up to her door and made a light knock. What he received in return was utter silence.

"Xiao Xi, open the door. Let's talk," Gong Yu said, trying to test the waters.

"..." Still silence.

"Xiao Xi, open the door and let me in."

Murong Yunxi placed her ear to the door, listening for any noise of activity outside. However, the door was so sound-proof that she couldn't hear a thing. Murong Yunxi opened the door a little, just wide enough to form a small gap.

She saw no one from the small gap.

"Hmph! He left just like that!" Murong Yunxi muttered to herself. Then, she closed the door again.

The moment the door was about to meet its frame, a force stopped it from closing. Then, the door was pushed open.

Gong Yu stepped in with a large stride. Using one hand to close the door behind him, he pulled Murong Yunxi into his embrace with the other and hugged her close. His series of movements were so smooth that he left her no room to even think before she threw herself into his embrace.

When the familiar faint scent of fresh grass entered her nose, the last shred of anger that she felt disappeared as well.

She allowed Gong Yu to hug her. She closed her eyes and quietly breathed in the scent that she was crazy for. In her ears was the sound of Gong Yu's rapidly beating heart. Like a pleasant rhythm, it was very nice to listen to.

Gong Yu gently caressed the back of Murong Yunxi's head with his large hand. "You're getting smarter, aren't you? You became so upset and I'm the victim here."

Gong Yu's placid voice rang out above Murong Yunxi's head, so gentle that it sounded like a lullaby. Still, those words angered her.

"You upset? You dare be upset when you were the one who threw a tantrum?" She instantly raised her head to glare at him, looking like a cat with its hair standing on its end. She strained her neck so badly that she resembled a rooster picking a fight.

"It's all your fault!" Gong Yu looked like he wasn't about to give in and returned her glare.

"My fault? I woke up early in the morning and rushed to the airport to pick you up! I waited at the airport for more than two hours! You acted strange the moment we met and you dare blame me?!"

"It's still your fault for just calling Seventh Brother. Not only did you not say a word to me, but you didn't even give me a call for a few days! When I finally saw you again, I spotted you hugging your former lover! Do you think I'm blind?" Gong Yu's expression darkened again with an indecipherable light flickering in his pupils.

Murong Yunxi chuckled, which soon evolved into hearty laughter.

Her laughter embarrassed Gong Yu. With a cold expression, he rebuked her, "Stop laughing!"

Murong Yunxi was laughing so hard that she was nearly tearing up. She pointed to Gong Yu but couldn't get a word out. After a long time, she finally managed to say, "Gong Yu, you… you were actually jealous!"

Gong Yu was blushing from his cheeks all the way to his ears. He looked so chagrined that he couldn't meet Murong Yunxi's eyes.

"That's enough laughing! Is it that funny?" he yelled, glaring at her.

Murong Yunxi finally had enough of laughing. Her eyes were now filled with love and a bright smile was playing on her lips. "Gong Yu, something happened that day that I needed to take responsibility for. That's why I didn't call you. As for today, well, I happened to run into Mou Yichen at the airport. You can't call us former lovers. We have never been together and have always been just friends. Besides, Mou Yichen has a girlfriend now and I've invited them for dinner with us tomorrow."

To be frank, Gong Yu's jealousy had more or less settled but he couldn't quite put his ego aside, resulting in everything that happened today. Recalling how outrageous he acted earlier, he said, "Xiao Xi, I'm sorry. I shouldn't have thrown a tantrum at you just now."
