THE BEGINNING

THE MOTHER is my first novel. I'm only writing this for experience so constructive criticism is accepted.

I'll be using certain terms in this story some are mine so I'll explain them here.

ENHANCER : A person whose abilities mainly involve an increase in one's bodily functions(Speed ,Strength, Mental abilities)

MUTANT : A person whose abilities change their body(Growing a tail, Getting wings etc)

VARIANTS : A person whose abilities just can't be explained by simple gene mutation( Control over an element, etc)

I'll explain any other things brought to my notice, so without further ado, the story begins... 

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------           Alec Devont was the most brilliant man of his generation some went as far as saying he was twice as smart as Einstein. He had it all except he didn't , Alec was dying and even he didn't know why. He started to dabble in gene modification during which he discovered his cells divided at five times the speed of your average person, this information made him intensify his experiments. Everything seemed to be fine until Devont realized the cell he was working on had increased in size and was producing cells, not dividing into multiple cells. The cell went from being invisible to the naked eye to being the size of a cockroach in six months, Devont seeing this continued to work on his experiment until one day no one saw him anymore. Search parties were dispatched to find him and when they did, in his underground lab, he was dead and had written on a piece of paper "too much radiation". He was surrounded by broken glass from a capsule and whatever it held was no longer there. The thing multiplied in secret and created monsters which were attracted to radiation because it seemed to make them stronger. They were a menace to all of mankind and seemed unkillable until a hundred men with nothing to lose decided to kill one, seventy of them didn't survive but this feat changed everything because scientists managed to create the gene enhancing fluid which could help to break genetic limits of humans.

It's been 70 years since the gene enhancing fluid(GEF) was created , allowing humans to be able to defend themselves. Cities and towns have been rebuilt schools for the super abled have been constructed but let's not get carried away this story isn't about the whole of humanity it's about one boy.

In a small town called Blue Tiger town a well built one-armed man is watching two boys of around fifteen years, one is punching a wooden dummy and the other is swinging a sword hitting a wooden plank after a short time the man shouts "Will , Connor that's enough for today". When he says these words the boys stop then fall to the ground panting with exhaustion on their faces, seeing this, the man slowly tells the boys "it's too bad you're both so tired ,I was planning on taking you on your first hunt today" .The boys got up quickly with big smiles on their faces and rushed towards the town gate. "George, a guard called out to the one armed man, "Finally taking those boys out to hunt huh?". "Good riddance, another said "Goodness knows how many times they tried to sneak out by themselves". George smiles and walks out of the gate with the boys into the nearby forest.

SOME HOURS  LATER

"Found one , a white haired boy said as he pulled a thumb sized crystal out of a huge deer beast." Good job Connor, George shouted from the other side of the beast. "Me too ,the dark haired Will shouted holding a crystal in his hand. "Alright then, that's probably enough let's head back boys", George said picking up a sac of mutated beast carcasses with the boys following behind him. As they got closer to the town they saw a large pillar of smoke, then started to run. When they got out of the forest they saw a saddening scene. The town walls were broken and bodies were scattered around with their limbs missing, the culprit? A 7 foot tall black praying mantis with a girl in its sight walked slowly towards her, seeing this, George shouted "Aliah" then a purple aura covered him and he darted off towards the beast crossing the distance of a couple meters between them in seconds and punched it ,sending the mantis flying into some buildings he looked at the girl shivering on the ground and picked her up towards the boys and said "go to the mayor's house and ring the alarm it will signal for help-"but", Connor interrupted with tears in his eyes,"no Connor there's no other way I'll stall this thing go with Will and Aliah and get help. Without giving them a chance to speak,George jumped at the mantis and punched it through some buildings. He turned to look at the children and saw them running off then smiled,saying "time to let loose".

The three got to the mayor's house and rang the alarm inside but as they leave they see another mantis beast in front of the door. 

Somewhere in a huge skyscraper a loud siren goes off. A man in front of a large screen sees a blinking light on a map and speaks into a microphone "Base 326 ,Blue Tiger town needs reinforcements now "."Sure on it". A man says . And begins to float then fly towards Blue Tiger town.
