Everyone was waiting in the lobby. As each patient was seen, the secretary would call out the number from the doorway of the consultation room and usher the next patient in.

Rober and Barel acted as assistants in the consultation room, with a lady translator on hand to provide instant translating service.

Mrs. Bao was in a state of disarray. Despite having confirmed it was Yang Ping, she still wished it was a misunderstanding.

But it was about her son's lifelong health. The young man was in pain every step he took; it was agonizing.

Junhao's knee had been seen in several hospitals and by Professor Ye at Dido Medical University Third Hospital.

Professor Ye stated that he was helpless in this situation. It was difficult enough to recover the ability to walk normally after surgery, let alone regain athletic ability.

In a few years, the cartilage would wear out and cause traumatic arthritis. At such a young age, a prosthetic joint replacement is unthinkable.

Professor Ye suggested they consult Dr. Yang Ping at Sanbo hospital; he currently specializes in this area.

Mrs. Bao did some research on Yang Ping. He was a young attending physician, which made her consider this as Professor Ye's stalling tactic.

So, they decided on treatment in the United States. After a lot of effort, they found that the orthopedic department of the New York Special Surgery Hospital was ranked first in the United States, and Professor Robert had a strong reputation in sports medicine. Thus, they asked Manager Qian to book an appointment with Professor Robert.

Before leaving for the United States, Junhao's knee pain worsened, leading Mrs. Bao to take him for a temporary visit to Sanbo's Orthopaedics VIP. That's when the conflict with Yang Ping occurred.

It was unthinkable that, after going through such a huge loop, the mentor invited by Professor Robert turned out to be Yang Ping.

Mrs. Bao felt as if she were dreaming. Bao Yulou consoled his wife: “Don't worry, if it's indeed Dr. Yang who had the disagreement with you, we'll play it by ear. If he forgets about it, we'll act as if we don't know. If he remembers and makes things difficult for us, we'll sincerely apologize for the misunderstanding.”

That was the only option. The disease had to be treated. But an apology was difficult! Those two words – “say sorry” – never appeared in Mrs. Bao's dictionary.

“Should we return to China for treatment? Ask somebody from the provincial hall to say a word to Sanbo hospital?” Mrs. Bao suddenly thought of a different approach – to go back to China to see Yang Ping for treatment. After all, the hospital was under higher management, right? If a friend gives a word, would he not treat?

“Where do you get such ideas? With just one word from Yang, saying 'I can't treat him', who dares to force him to perform surgery? You guys think just like children. I see that you haven't quite realized where the problem lies. Would there be such trouble if your public profile was a little lower? I bet the surgery might have been done already.” Bao Yulou thought his wife's attitude was problematic.

“Junhao, when you see Dr. Yang later on, mind your manners and apologize if you need to, understand?” Bao Yulou instructed. He was out of any options with this son of his. He lived in constant fear for his son. When he was strict with this son in his childhood, his wife would make a fuss.

Bao Yulou sometimes thought that if the Bao family got in trouble in the future, it would either be because of his wife or this spoiled son.

“I know. Isn't it just about money? I am paying him so much. He wouldn't dare refuse to treat, would he?” Young Master Bao said impatiently.

Bao Yulou was pissed. Had he been at home, a shoe would already have been thrown.

Junhao was the last one. Everyone who went in with a worried expression came out beaming.

Especially that NBA basketball star, who gave each staff member a hug when he came out, expressing how fortunate he felt and his gratitude for everyone's help.

When it was Young Master Bao's turn, a staff member from the ceremonial department invited them in.

Accompanied by Manager Qian, the family entered the consultation room. Yang Ping was looking at information on the computer, Barel was helping with the computer to record medical records, Robert was assisting Yang Ping, and the translator was casually prepared to translate.

Young Master Bao sat down, looking very uneasy. Facing this situation, all his previous bluster was gone.

“Hello, Doctor… Yang!” Junhao stuttered a bit as he spoke.

Mrs. Bao was flushed: “Hello, Dr. Yang.”

The Bao family sat down. Mrs. Bao had seen this scene before; when they had visited Professor Ye's outpatient clinic in Beijing, he too had been accompanied by two graduate students, one typing and the other assisting with various things.

Dr. Yang Ping held up a form, asking in his hand and asked, “What's your name? Where are you from? How can I assist you today?”

He spoke in American-style English, entirely incomprehensible to Young Master Bao, who looked towards Manager Qian for help.

Dr. Yang Ping shrugged and laughed, “You're American, sir. How come you can't understand English?”

Just as Manager Qian was about to assist with translation, the translator had already translated Dr. Yang's words.

Fury ignited within Young Master Bao. Who did this guy think he was? He was about to stand up, but barely got halfway before realizing his misstep. He forced himself to sit back down.

While he was dealing with the same man as before, the circumstances had completely changed. Young Master Bao just barely escaped making a scene as he was still encapsulated by his previous mindset.

He really needed their help now. He came to realize that Dr. Yang was a prestigious figure in America. This understanding caused Young Master Bao to squeeze out an extremely awkward smile.

Mrs. Bao's also looked displeased, never having been questioned in this manner before, yet she held her anger in check, not daring to challenge him.

“He's Chinese, a fellow countryman who recently arrived in America,” Manager Qian hastily explained, inadvertently referring to the Bao family as fellow countrymen.

“Chinese? Bao Junhao? I thought you were American. You look somewhat familiar; have we met before?” Dr. Yang Ping looked down at the form and then up at Junhao, noting a vague resemblance.

“Dr. Yang, we have…we have met before, at Sanbo Hospital. There was an incident at the time…a misunderstanding,” Mrs. Bao said, realizing that there was no point hiding the facts.

Dr. Yang turned to Professor Robert rather placidly and said, “I'm sorry, but I cannot treat this patient. They have a history of violent tendency and has previously attempted to harm me.”

Even Dr. Yang didn't expect Professor Robert's face to change significantly at his words.

This was a serious matter. Once a patient was suspected to display violent tendencies or have a record of attempted harm towards a doctor, the doctor had the right to refuse treatment and seek protection.

“Security, security, hurry!” Professor Robert immediately stood up, positioning himself protectively in front of Dr. Yang. Barel pressed the panic button concealed underneath the office desk.

Professor Robert attempted to shield Dr. Yang as they tried to exit the consulting room through a side door designed for quick evacuation.

Soon, security rushed in. Professor Robert shouted, “Protect Dr. Yang! This patient has a history of trying to violently harm doctors–”
The sturdy security guards were armed. They have a standard operating procedure: one of them took his place in front of Dr. Yang to facilitate an evacuation, while another drew his stun baton and ordered, “Stay where you are! Don't move!”

Shortly, more security personnel came in. Young Master Bao was taken aback; he knew these guards were armed.

Raising his hands, he didn't understand what was happening. Manager Qian was also flabbergasted.

As the guards escorting Dr. Yang out through the side door asked him whether he wished to continue the consultation, they assured him that they would remain watchful if he chose to go on, ensuring his safety.

The other security personnel kept an eye on Young Master Bao in the consultation room since he was not protesting or causing a commotion.

“I'm sorry, but given your past record of physically assaulting Dr. Yang, we can't provide you with services now,” the guard explained solemnly.

Outside, a few patients who hadn't left and several medical staff members had presumably sounded the alarm, as two police officers arrived.

The police officers asked the security personnel about the situation to determine whether they could intervene.

“When did you enter the country?”

One of the police officers began his investigation, examining Young Master Bao's identification and making a phone call to check whether he had any negative records in the United States. If indeed he had attempted to attack a doctor, they would have to escort him to the police station for explanations.

Young Master Bao began to shudder uncontrollably. He had never experienced such a situation before and was close to wetting himself out of fear. He feared that the security guards would draw their holstered guns. Meanwhile, Manager Qian kept saying, “It's a misunderstanding.”

Bao Yulou was helpless against this situation; he didn't know what had happened at all.

Dr. Yang hadn't said anything just now. Why had Professor Robert reacted so much?

“Not long ago, he was fined for drug use,” a police officer reported after finding his record.

The situation had become complicated, and his blood had to be drawn at the police station to check for any recent drug use.

“Can you understand English? You have to come with me to the police station to confirm whether you are still using drugs,” the officer declared.

Manager Qian felt helpless but translated the officer's words for Bao Yulou. Bao Yulou was so angry he almost spat blood. If it weren't for the presence of the police, he would have certainly slapped Junhao several times.

“Dad, mom!” Young Master Bao was so scared that he looked spiritless.
