Stronghold In The Apocalypse 179 Heading Towards London

"How is the base so far?" Leo said after he handed the two bags full of weapons into a nearby soldier, who immediately left and probably went to store the weapons.

"It's good so far sir, but we have a bit of a problem though," the Captain said, with a bit of a worry in his tone.

Leo stopped in his tracks while the two women just followed behind them while listening to their conversation.

"What problem?"

The Captain scratched his head and said, "We're running low on material, Sir and the leftover amount won't be enough to fully reconstruct and upgrade the walls that got damaged during the last zombie sieged, sir"

"Did you guys already looked around the city?" Leo asked.

"Yes, but it seems resources have already ran out and it may even force us to instead mine for the minerals, Sir" the Captain said.

"Alright, don't worry about it and just continue with the construction" Leo said as he waved him away.

"Yes, sir" the man saluted before exiting the scene.

"Is everything okay?" Michelle walked over to his side and asked.

"Yep, good thing that there is a mine nearby back at Manchester. It seems we'll have to open it sooner or later but for now, I'll send some orders back at Manchester to mobilize ten groups to gather gather construction materials. Cambridge City would be our foothold in taking over London, so it needs a wall that could withstand the weight of a thousand zombies scaling it or at least sturdy enough to endure a grenade explosion" Leo said after much careful thought.

"The mine? But Aria told me before that it was already close" Amanda hook her arms around his and said.

Leo turned to her and said, "Not really. It's still operational"

"How do you even know?" Michelle said as they walked through the stairs of the Main Building.

"I just know" Leo vaguely answered, of course he wouldn't say that it still has resources to be mined because of the [Icon] about it being shown through the [Map].

"You're acting all mysterious again" Michelle said as she whispered into his ear with a smile on her face.

Leo just smiled and kneaded their plump butts before heading towards his office, as the two ladies followed beside him.

Leo started working on things that needed his attention around the camp while the ladies did their own things, like inspecting the warehouse, overseeing the construction of the walls.

These two women have become Leo's left and right hands, they help him supervise minor things that doesn't need much of his attention.

An hour later.

"Uhmmm~!" Leo stretched his arms from his chair after sorting out the plans that were presented to him.

"Hmm?" Leo suddenly noticed something from his minimap, and that there are multiple blue dots heading towards their direction.

Leo immediately stood up from his seat and exited the building as he headed towards the southern wall.

At the top of the wall, the soldiers are already ready to fight the moment they spotted the mutant beast swarm heading towards them, and the only reason that they are not opening fire is because of the familiar beast leading the swarm.

It was Kitty, the mutant Black Panther.

The beast swarm stopped two hundred meters away from the wall, some of them are standing on the rooftops of the houses while there are some of them lazily lying on the ground and Leo jumped down from the wall and at the same time, behind him are Michelle and Amanda running through the stairs that leads towards the top of the wall.

"So you're telling me this are all of the mutant beasts that you captured last night?" Leo suddenly said while standing in front of the beast swarm.

[Yes, sir. This group of beast are led by a ten meter tall Silverback Gorilla] Alex's voice suddenly rang beside his ear.

"I see" Leo said, as he did notice a Silverback Gorilla standing just behind Kitty.

Leo closed his eyes and said, "Alright, how is it on your side so far?"

[We've already taken down four districts, Commander, but we'll need more men if we want to fully integrate this land into a safe zone suitable for humans to live in] Alex immediately replied.

"Hmm..we don't have that many men to spare anymore, so I'll just send half of the mutant beasts here to assist you guys" Leo said.

[That works too, Commander] Alex replied.

Leo then cut off the call, as he slowly walked towards Kitty.

Kitty then lowered her head, which is just enough for Leo to pat her head.

Leo started petting her, "You did good," he said, and then he suddenly took out something from his [Inventory], which is a huge chunk of meat and tossed it into the air, as Kitty immediately jumped and caught the meat on her meat and gulped it all down in a single bite.

"Bring half of them and go back to Alex" Leo said while scratching the back of her ear.

After that, Kitty started talking to the Silverback Gorilla in their own animal language, and Leo who is listening to the side felt like a primitive species that just got recently discovered by the civilization.

"ROAR!" Kitty gave a loud reverberating roar, as she started running back towards Cambridge while almost half of the beast swarm broke off and followed behind her, leaving the other half behind, led by their former leader, the Silverback Gorilla.

Leo then started assigning chores for this guys, Leo delegated work to animals similar to the Silverback Gorilla to help on the construction of the walls while the rest were ordered to roam around the city and its surroundings to eliminate any threats and that they are not allowed to kill any humans unless attacked first.

After that, everyone dispersed. This is one of the things that really astounds Leo, even though he can't understand them, but on the other hand, this Silverback Gorilla seems to understand him.

"Must be because they have higher levels than the rest" Leo said with a hand on his chin.

"But problems has started to pile up since I started rushing on taking over Cambridge, lack of soldiers is what worries me the most and the only good thing so far is that we already have a small but constant flow of food supply coming from Buxworth Village, Survivor Camp" Leo mumbled while walking back towards the base, with a head full of worries.

After all, not everyday would they receive survivors, and even if they do, they would only receive between one and ten survivors and the highest so far is only one hundred thirty six, and that was when they only started broadcasting about their place through most of the nearby states or provinces.

Everything went smoothly, the workers and soldiers were surprised at first when they suddenly saw multiple mutated beast charging at them, but they all calmed down when an officer told them they are with them and would help on the construction of the walls and many other things.

At night.

"Why aren't you asleep yet?" Michelle asked as she looked up to Leo while lying on his chest.

"I..I don't feel sleepy yet. You should go back to sleep instead, babe" Leo smiled as he kissed her forehead.

"Are you worried about something? Must be related to the camps, isn't it?" Michelle instead cuddled more and asked him in a whisper.

Leo sighed and said, "Yes, it's because our current population is too low and at least seventy percent of them had already joined the army, but it's still not enough as it slows down operations"

Michelle smiled and made circles in Leo's chest with her finger while she said, "You shouldn't worry too much about those things, and didn't Alex already sent those hundreds of mutated beasts? I was even surprised that he subdued all of them"

While both of them are having a serious discussion, Amanda who is laying at Leo's right side is still soundly asleep, not even aware that her two companions are still awake.

Half an hour later, Leo smiled as he gazed at the two beautiful women on his arms while thinking, 'Before, we were just strangers and we didn't even know each other that much, but we immediately hit off, must be the [System]'s influence thought, but I don't really have the feeling that the [System] influence their minds especially Amanda as she was certainly one of the rewards after completing one of the first missions before'

'System, did you hypnotize Amanda to like?' Leo instead asked [System] as he is very intrigued about it.

"[No]" the [System] immediately replied.
'Really? But she was certainly one of the Rewards before though' Leo pressed further.

[I had only followed your desire of wanting to rescue your woman, and that's the reason why she was included in the Rewards List, but she isn't certainly hypnotize to like you as the [System] doesn't have that kind of capability]

'I see, that's a relief' Leo thought in his mind, as he felt relieved that she didn't love him because of a third party's influence, and if that really happened, then he would certainly feel sick about it, knowing that their relationship was just a lie.

"Must be my charm and awesomeness then" Leo mumbled before he fell asleep, with a relieved look on his face.

The next day.

The sky is gloomy, with thick clouds covering the sky, as there's not even a hint of sunshine.

"What a gloomy day" Leo commented seeing how sad looking his surrounding is when the sun isn't shining over them, revealing just how messed up this world is.

Leo then moved towards a secluded corner in the neighborhood and summoned his [Death Knight]

*Neigh!*

The [Death Knight] appeared behind him from his shadows as the skeletal horse neighing in an aggressive manner.

"Let's go!" Leo said as he hopped on his motorbike, as the engine roared into life.

Leo immediately pulled down the throttle as the bike rushed forward while the [Death Knight] followed behind him, and at the sky behind them is the PELICAN slowly following behind along with its two passengers, Amanda and Michelle, as [Gideon] were wirelessly piloting the aircraft.

Leo plans to go see the progress of his men back at London, and at the same time, provide some additional support or firepower.

'Damn, it seems I need to personally deal with the population problem' Leo thought as he made countless plans about it in his head.
