Stronghold In The Apocalypse 147 Lightning Sparrow

Leo left fifty soldiers in the village to maintain order and protect the village from the dangers around them but most of them are merely recruits along with ten veteran soldiers to lead and guide and he also left three tanks and three HUMVEE's with them while he brought the entire three Hunting Squads with a total number of ninety seven people along with his original fifty soldiers that he had brought with him before, totaling one hundred and forty seven people in total but if we add the people driving the military vehicles then their numbers would go above one hundred seventy soldiers.

On the road that they passed through was somewhat peaceful as they only met a few zombies and mutated beast but there was a lot of abandoned cars on the road that the soldiers had to go down and push them aside. Of course, the tanks could have just bulldozed them but it would become a problem for the cars that uses tires that they might get punctured by the protruding metals from the vehicles that the tanks would have flattened.

Leo had also ordered his men to draw the fuel out of the cars and store it on the gallons that was brought and also had them refuel the vehicles using the looted fuels.

"God, this will take a long time before they're done clearing the road" Leo said as he stepped out of the vehicle he was riding and walked towards the overgrown forest a couple of meters from the road.

The soldiers who were on standby didn't do anything but just watch him and when Leo entered the forest and already moved further inside for thirty meters from the edge of the forest. He suddenly noticed something moving fast towards his direction just when he was about to summon Black, Bacon and Ham and had them help the soldiers move the cars on the roadside.

Leo then immediately leapt backwards as his Armor immediately covered his body while mid flight as he crossed his palms with his left hand palm supporting the back of his right hand and put it in front of his chest as something flashing in yellow colored lights appeared a few meters away in front him and was speeding like a bullet and collided against his palms and Leo groaned but he immediately closed his right hand into a fist and caught that thing that just attack him in his hand

But it wasn't a easy capture for him as that attack immediately sent him flying back out of the forest as he broke all the trees on his trajectory before he landed on the ground and rolled for a couple of times before stopping.

"Commander!"

"Sir!"
"Leo!"

Alex was the first one to immediately appeared beside Leo and helped him up on his feet and the soldiers who saw what happened immediately came over and formed a tight semi encirclement in front of him with their weapons all pointing towards the forest.

Even the tanks and tactical vehicles pointed their guns and cannon towards the forest that even the two remaining Black Hawks were circling above the forest as a tense atmosphere immediately permeated in the air as the remaining soldiers who were clearing the road earlier came to join the human like wall as they waited...waited for that enemy that sent their leader flying out of the forest.

But as seconds passed by, they started to feel confused of why there aren't enemy coming out that they even started thinking that it probably got scared with how much firepower it would face the moment it stepped of the forest.

Leo who finally got his bearings as he switched off his helmet and looked at Alex and gave him a nod and then he said to his men, "It's fine. It's nothing serious" but when he saw the worried look of his cousin, Luna. He just nodded at her and gave her a reassuring smile telling her that he's fine.

But the soldiers had different thoughts in their minds as they screamed in their heads.

'Of course it's not fine! You, who is considered the strongest here even got himself sent flying then what about us then!? Who hasn't even gained even a little bit of supernatural abilities?'

They all thought bitterly but they still heed his orders and put their weapons down and at the same time, they also felt relieved that no powerful monsters came out but that's only for those fifty people that Leo first brought but those members of Hunting Squads had disappointed looks on their faces but they didn't dare to lower their guards just in case that thing that attacked Leo would suddenly pounce at them at a time like this.

"Just what the heck happened just now?" Luna said, feeling a bit curious this time.

Even Caleb, David and the newly appointed Captain of the Third Hunting Squad, Joe was looking at Leo with curiosity that even the soldiers who had been fighting with him the longest are also at him the same way like the others and it was probably only Alex who wasn't the least bit interested but he instead keeps staring at the hands of Leo that seems to be holding something.

It's because it's been a long time since they saw him get sent flying like that and he was even wearing his [Armor] on top of that and even the current strongest zombie they knew, "The Big One" can't send him flying that far but making Leo step backwards for a couple of steps is possible, that's it! But to even make him helplessly roll on the ground? Now, that's something new for their eyes!

Leo smiled at their curiosity and showed them what what was on his hands, "It was this thing"

He opened his hands and what was lying there was a cute and furry little sparrow around the size of sixteen centimeters as it tries to escape from Leo's hands by frantically flapping its wings while releasing yellow sparks around its body like when Pikachu was about to use a freaking Thunderbolt but sadly, Leo was gripping tightly on its little feet!

"Ahh~ It's cute little sparrow" Caleb suddenly said with a somewhat mesmerize voice.

Then Leo and the others was suddenly staring weirdly at him.

Caleb looked at them and said innocently, "What? The little thing is cute, right Luna!?"

"Ehh..I don't know. I guess so?" Luna averted her eyes from Caleb as she wasn't really a girl fond of cute things and the like.

"Cute? Hell no! Don't be deceive by its cuteness! This little bastard is dangerous and someone could have died just now if it attack someone else!" Leo sounded really against it but his actions was an exact opposite of what he's saying as he continued stroking the bird's head with a satisfied expression on his face.

"Cute is justice!" Leo suddenly raised the bird above him like when Rafiki raised the cub Simba for all the animals to see.

Caleb and a couple of soldiers raised their hands in the air and yelled like maniacs!

And the others who felt that the current atmosphere wasn't right immediately dispersed and went back to what they were doing earlier while shaking their heads and at the same time, they felt like they just saw something that they shouldn't have.

David, Joe and Luna was shaking their heads towards Leo as they didn't expect that Leo has this side of him but Luna could somewhat understand him because before all of this chaos even happened, Leo once had a very cute corgi whom he treats it like a family but one day it suddenly died of unknown causes and it resulted in him crying for over half a day and entire week of depression before he finally got over his loss but from then on, he had never took in or raised cute pets ever again.

Leo and his family was fond of cute things especially pets and it was probably only Luna who was different because she doesn't really get what's the big deal about cute pets because she's that girl who prefers pets that had a more manlier look around them like German Shepherds, Pitbulls or Bulldogs which is a bit weird for a beautiful woman like her!

But what they didn't know is that Leo wasn't just happy because its cute but it's also because the information that was shown to him the moment his eyes landed on it.
