Then, he started the preparations. First, he asked Xiao Ma and Li Duo to cover up the windows with bed sheets to block the sunlight. He wrote down her Ba Zi and name on the talisman paper and used the incense to burn it. Then, he began to chant, “O'come the Light of Dusk, Heaven and Earth shall be split, with the power of Maoshan and this talisman paper, quickly let go of the soul you’re holding! Come now all three Hun and seven Po of Liao Qingqing, report to me!”(TL note: Ba Zi - date of birth and eight characters of a horoscope).

Suddenly, a cold wind blew inside the room. The eyes of the others were wide open, especially Hu Shuai—he was extra nervous about the summoning process. After about two to three minutes, the wind started to abate, and a small white light began to substantialize inside Ye Shaoyang’s drawn circle.

Then, Ye Shaoyang formed a hand seal and chanted again, “Come now all three Hun and seven Po of Liao Qingqing, report to me!” Not long after, a white light appeared again. This time, it grew brighter and brighter, until a final flash. Then, the vague figure of a standing long-haired girl emerged inside the circle.

“Qingqing!” Hu Shuai yelled, as he tried to leap forward and hold her. Ye Shaoyang immediately stopped him and said, “Do not go close to her! Her soul is not complete and is very weak. You might just destroy her soul with your Yang Qi.” This possibility horrified Hu Shuai, so he stopped immediately and stared at Liao Qingqing with red and watery eyes.

Ye Shaoyang looked at the female spirit and asked, “Are you Liao Qingqing?”

Liao Qingqing nodded her head; two trails of tears flowed down her cheeks, as she looked Hu Shuai.

“Qingqing, tell me who the killer is, and I will help you get revenge!” Hu Shuai said with a tone filled with rancor.

Liao Qingqing looked at him woefully, but she did not speak.

“Little Ye, why isn’t she speaking?” Xiao Ma asked curiously.

Ye Shaoyang let out a sigh and said, “Someone is holding her soul captive. Even with my powers, I could only get two of her Hun and four of her Po out. Since her Hun is not complete, she is unable to speak.”
[TL Note: A soul is made up of three Hun and seven Po. Three Hun being the heavenly soul, earthly soul, and hell soul, each soul goes to their respective places after death. Seven Po being the seven Yin souls, or seven emotions, that slowly disappear after death]

“How could this be?!” Hu Shuai almost collapsed to the ground, but Xiao Ma and Li Duo caught him.

Xiao Ma was also indignant and said, “Little Ye, what kind of person would do such a horrible thing like capturing someone’s soul?!”

“This is definitely not the work of a human,” Ye Shaoyang shook his head, “Just now, when I attempted to summon her soul, that thing tried to stop me. Next, Ye Shaoyang went behind Liao Qingqing and stuck the talisman paper onto the back of her neck, two inches below her hairline. This location was also called the Ren Men point. The ancient Chinese executioners would usually aim for this point to release a person’s hatred. Ye Shaoyang chanted an incantation. Then, he cut his finger and dabbed some blood on the midpoint of the talisman paper. Now, with the combined effects of his blood and the talisman paper, her Xian Men would be temporarily opened, enabling her to speak normally for a short period. I promise that after all of this, I will give you time to say your goodbyes.” Liao Qingqing wiped her tears and nodded. She looked at Ye Shaoyang gratefully, “Mister, please help me.”
