Chapter 4          Miao Jiang Parasite Witch 

The villagers became speechless with shock when they saw this. No one could believe that something like this would happen in broad daylight!

“Vile creature!” Qing Yunzhi stood up and started to yell at the female undead, “I was trying to do you a favor and transcend you, but you do not repent. Instead, you resist me and fight the natural order of things. You leave me with no choice but to destroy your soul essence!”
( TL note: soul essence is one of the building blocks of a person’s soul).

Then, Qing Yunzhi proceeded to bite his finger and used the blood to draw a few Chinese characters on a piece of charm. He quickly threw the charm into the blazing fire; the charm did not burn. Instead, it stuck to the forehead of the female undead. He made a hand seal and started to chant. 

Gradually, the white Yin Qi became thinner, and the fire was finally closing in on the undead. First, her dress started to burn; then, oil started to ooze from her skin with a sizzling sound. After her skin was gone, her muscles and tendons started to wither. The female undead was like an earthworm struggling in a fire. It was a very horrific sight to the villagers. The female undead was trembling in the fire as if she was struggling to get away. Her expression had also changed. She gnashed her teeth, as her eyes started to pop out because the fire had burned away her eyelids. 

“Oh my god …” a cowardly villager sat paralyzed on the floor. Most of the villagers slowly backed away, as they feared that the female undead might do something. 

Just when the fire had almost burned up the female undead, something ominous occurred. The sky began to darken, and rainy clouds started to swoop in. Winds started to blow, and thunder rumbled. A storm was imminent. 

Qing Yunzhi thought to himself, Damn it. The female undead had not brought about the storm, as she was not that powerful. As it was September, heavy storms were fairly normal. However, this storm really came at an inopportune time. Without the sun’s rays to suppress the Yin Qi, the fire alone was not enough to harm the undead. Sure enough, the female undead let out a hysterical scream and jumped out from the blazing flames. At that moment, the previously set up five colored flags started to shoot out beams of golden light. The beams crossed each other and formed a massive net that covered the entire grave. 

The female undead slammed into the net and fell back into the fire. However, the female undead acted as if it was nothing and tried to jump out again. While she slammed and banged on the golden net, she let out beastly screams that shook the hearts of the already scared villagers. The villagers did not back off this time; all of them were too shocked to move. 

On the other hand, Qing Yunzhi was very calm. He formed a hand seal, and continued to chant an incantation to strengthen the net. Qing Yunzhi knew that even though the female undead was vigorously attempting to escape the net, the fire would soon consume her. But the real worry was still in her belly. The undead infant had still not moved. 

Suddenly, the female undead let out a tremendous wail, and stopped banging against the net. Instead, she started to pull the net apart and make holes. The female undead was able to make a big enough hole for her head to squeeze through.  

“How dare you!” Qing Yunzhi yelled at it. At the same time, he pulled out a Chinese wooden sword made from jujube trees. Peach wood swords were used to harm spirits, while jujube wooden swords were made to harm demons and the undead. Qing Yunzhi’s wooden sword was also very special, crafted from a tree that a powerful lightning had struck. 

Qing Yunzhi quickly bit his middle finger and used the blood to draw an incantation on his wooden sword. After that, he jumped toward the female undead, as he pointed the wooden sword at her. The sword pierced her left eye, and her eye exploded. Green gooey liquid squirted out from the site. The liquid’s acidity was so deadly that the grass immediately turned black and withered away upon contact. The wooden sword was able to pierce the brain of the female undead. At the same time, they heard the sound of boiling oil; a black, foamy liquid flowed out from the entry wound. The female undead trembled and let out a scream of immense pain. Both her hands gripped the wooden sword, as she tried to pull it out. 

At this moment, the object that protruded from her belly started to wiggle. With a ripping sound, a pair of small pale hands tore through the female undead’s belly. A child, with a pair of red glowing eyes and a mouthful of sharp teeth, slowly dug his way out. Then, he jumped through the hole its mother created and escaped. 

The undead infant had finally awakened! As the female undead burned, she shielded the undead infant from any harm. Even though the undead infant was out, he was still terrified of Qing Yunzhi. The infant gave Qing Yunzhi a quick and mean stare. Then, he ran on all fours toward the surrounding forest. 

Qing Yunzhi was in a difficult situation. He could not pull out the wooden sword, or else the female undead might not die. At the same time, the undead infant might harm the villagers. Qing Yunzhi ultimately decided to let go of the wooden sword stuck in the female undead and pulled out some copper beads from his sleeves. He threw the copper beads straight at the child. When the copper beads struck the skin of the undead infant, it started to emit black fumes. The undead infant let out an odd scream and continued to run into the woods. Qing Yunzhi returned his focus to the female undead. He quickly mumbled an incantation and used his left palm to strike the female undead. As the female undead fell back, he quickly pulled out the wooden sword and gave the female undead a final stab to the throat. Her mouth emitted black fumes, as she screamed in pain. After 10 seconds, the female undead was no longer able to fight back. She gave out a final cry and became motionless, as she fell back into the pit of blazing flames. 

Qing Yunzhi wasted no time. He swiftly turned his focus to the undead infant that was already at the bottom of the hills. Qing Yunzhi knew that he would not be able to catch up to it, so he bit his left thumb and smeared blood on the wooden sword. At the same time, he chanted, “ O' come the light of dusk, Heaven and Earth shall be rent asunder, following the order of Yin Yang, with the boundless power of the Dao!”

Then, he proceeded to throw the enchanted wooden sword toward the child. The wooden sword flew like an arrow and pierced through the child’s back. The child let out a cry, but unexpectedly, he pulled out the wooden sword with his hand. Then, he continued to run down the hill and into the woods. 

Qing Yunzhi followed the evil aura that the child had left on the grass and continued to pursue it. However, as though the heavens were in the child’s favor, the rain started to pour. After a while, the evil aura was no longer visible. “The heavens are against me!” Qing Yunzhi stopped and sighed. Night was approaching, and even though the undead infant had taken a huge blow, it would still be able to absorb the surrounding Yin Qi to make it out of this alive. Qing Yunzhi figured it was pointless to continue his pursuit, so he went back to the villagers. 

Qing Yunzhi slowly walked back to the top of the mountain. He arrived in front of the grave and saw that the fire had already burned the female undead to ashes. Then, he ordered the people to cover up the grave, preventing the corpse poison from spread as that would cause another tragedy.  

“Daoist master, the undead child …” Ye Dagong asked intently. 

Qing Yunzhi let out a long sigh and said, “I was careless. From the start, the female undead had no intentions of surviving. She had already transferred all her evil aura to her child. That’s why I was not able to kill the child with my wooden sword.”

“Ah?!” the crowd gave out a terrified scream. All the villagers were scared for their lives. 

“Would … would it come back to harm us?” Ye Dagong asked with a trembling voice. 

“My wooden sword pierced the child, and he has taken considerable damage. He must find some place to recuperate, so he won’t be able to come out for another three to five years. “

“It takes them three to five years to heal a wound?”

Qing Yunzhi made an annoyed expression, “That thing is not human, so you can’t expect it to heal like a person. However, the undead does not have a lifespan, so three to five years is nothing to them.” 

“What shall we do after three to five years?”

“Well, just call me up when it appears,” Qing Yunzhi said. He let out a sigh and started to walk toward the villagers. 

Even though it was heavily raining, the villagers were afraid to leave the mountain. All of them were waiting for Qing Yunzhi to lead them. Qing Yunzhi walked passed everyone in the crowd. Finally, he stopped before a man that looked to be in his thirties; Qing Yunzhi gave him a quick scan. Suddenly, he took the man’s right hand, opened his palm, and saw that there was red paint on the man’s thumb, middle finger, and index finger.
