In order to prove his innocence, Ye Shaoyang could only tell Xiao Ma everything that had happened. Xiao Ma was shocked when Ye Shaoyang mentioned a specter, so he asked, “Didn’t you say that there were only spirits in there? How come there was a specter?”

“I missed out on one important factor and that factor was time. Back when the Buddhist monk first sealed up the dormitory, the spirit nest had just formed, so the building hadn’t created any specters yet. That’s probably why the seal he made back then did not affect the specters because there was none at that point in time.”
“Specters that were created by the strong Yin Qi cannot stray far from the source. That’s why they could only stay in the building. The specter I encountered today was probably one of the specters created here, and I bet there are more than one of them.” 

The thought of having to deal with all those specters came to mind. In fact, these specters would probably swarm toward any intruders of the building. After Xiao Ma finished his phone call with Li Duo, he said, “I’ve told him everything. That reminds me, Little Ye, what do you plan to do next?”

“I’ll have to go over again tomorrow, I found a statue that seems a bit weird and out of place. Thanks to that dumb specter, I wasn’t able to carefully inspect it.” 

Ye Shaoyang laid down on his bed. He originally planned to play a round of snakes before he slept. However, he suddenly remembered the new phone that Zhou Jingru had given him. He took out his new phone out and opened the contacts list. To his surprise, someone had been registered already under the character ‘Ru’. It was definitely Zhou Jingru. Ye Shaoyang smiled at her thoughtfulness. Xiao Ma took a cursory glance at Ye Shaoyang’s new phone and said, “iPhone 6, not bad. Now that you’ve gotten your first paycheck, you went to get yourself a luxury item.” Ye Shaoyang chuckled slightly and said, “Who told you I got this myself? I got this from Zhou Jingru.”

“What?! That’s a love token!” 

Ye Shaoyang did not plan to entertain Xiao Ma. Instead, he fumbled around with his new phone for a bit, but he was still unsure about all its functions. So, he put it aside and picked up his old phone. Then, he continued to play some good old snakes ….

The next day, around five in the morning. Xiao Ma suddenly woke Ye Shaoyang up. 

“Little Ye, wake up! Something bad has happened! Liao Qingqing went to dormitory four!”

Ye Shaoyang immediately got up and asked, “What?” 

“Just now, I got a call from Li Duo. He told me that Liao Qingqing went missing last night. Her family went to search for her and has already called the police. They checked the surveillance cameras and saw that she went into the school at three this morning, but no one saw her at the dorms. So, they immediately concluded that she went into dormitory four.” 

This information dumbfounded Ye Shaoyang. He never thought something like this would happen, and he urgently asked, “Have they gone into the dorms?”

“Not yet, the police have just arrived too. No one dares to go in, so they hope that you can help. Little Ye, you must go and check it out!”

Ye Shaoyang did not even bother replying to Xiao Ma. Instead, he hopped out of bed and quickly got dressed. As he was about to step out of the door, he suddenly stopped and turned back to his closet. He grabbed a long object that was in a silk bag.  

“What is that?” Xiao Ma asked.

“My secret weapon,” said Ye Shaoyang. If Liang Qingqing went to dormitory four, a very powerful spirit must have controlled her. Due to this reason, Ye Shaoyang thought that it would be a good idea to bring his secret weapon. 

Xiao Ma knew the fastest path to the School of Foreign Languages. The two of them arrived in 10 minutes. But when they got there, it was already too late. A girl laid prone on the grass field of dormitory four. A few policemen were gathering evidence, while other officers had set up a perimeter to control the scene. A few people in the crowd were sobbing uncontrollably. They were probably Liao Qingqing’s family. Li Duo and He Lili were outside the police perimeter. This tragedy that had occurred also caused them to feel sorrowful. When Ye Shaoyang and Xiao Ma approached, Xiao Ma rushed forward to grab Li Duo’s arms and asked, “Is it Liao Qingqing?”

Li Duo unwillingly nodded his head. 

Then, Ye Shaoyang asked, “How did this happen?”

“It was last night. Her mother was in the hospital taking care of her. But she fell asleep, and when she woke up, Qingqing was already gone. They quickly checked the surveillance cameras and saw that she had …. ”

Ye Shaoyang interrupted him and said, “ I don’t want to hear the process since it has already happened. But when did this happen?”

“It was just now before you guys arrived.”

Xiao Ma added, “Then, how did the police arrive so fast?”

“The police followed us here, and they saw that she had gone into dormitory four. We originally planned to go into the building to look for her, but then we heard a loud sound. We went around the building to see what had happened, and that’s when we saw her jumping off the building …. ”

Li Duo let out another sigh and looked at Ye Shaoyang with a mixed expression. He mumbled, “Brother Shaoyang, the way that Qingqing died is very strange, it’s … why don’t you go and look at her.” 

Ye Shaoyang approached the police perimeter, but a police officer immediately stopped him. Then, the officer asked, “Who are you? Please step away from the death scene.”

Ye Shaoyang replied, “I’m her friend. I just want to take a look at her.” 

The policeman hesitated for a while. Then, he said, “The way that the victim died is very unique, so I think you’re better off not seeing it.”

Unique? Ye Shaoyang became very curious. He insisted on seeing her, and he went up close and saw a horrific scene. The sight stunned him; he stood in place and could not help gasp. There was a dried up corpse that laid on the ground! To be exact, it was a corpse that had lost its blood and muscles. Her remains were only skin and bone; she seemed unhuman. 

“That’s just a dried up corpse. How could it be Liao Qingqing?” asked Xiao Ma in shock when he saw her body. Then, Li Duo came up and explained, “It is definitely her; her parents have already identified her through the clothes and the jewelry on her person. There is also video proof of the whole thing.”

Xiao Ma looked at him in disbelief and asked, “You said she jumped down from the building. Then, how did a dried up corpse jump? Or, did she immediately dry up after she jumped?”

Li Duo crossed his hands and replied, “Don’t ask me. I was even more shocked than you are now. She was fine when she went into the building but became like this even before she fell. I don’t know what she encountered up there … but it must have been something bad …. ”

Both of her parents had kneeled down beside her body. Her mother wept especially miserably, and her tears fell onto her daughter’s dried skin. Suddenly, Ye Shaoyang noticed a little twitch from the corpse’s finger. Ye Shaoyang realized what was about to happen, so he immediately yelled out, “Everyone back away right now! She is becoming an undead!” as he yelled, he also went forward to forcibly pull both her parents out of the way.  

“You son of a b*tch! What are you talking about!” Liao Qingqing’s father angrily tried to attack Ye Shaoyang. Fortunately, Li Duo and Xiao Ma were there to hold him back. At that moment, Liao Qingqing’s mother screamed out in terror. Everyone turned their attention to the source of the scream and witnessed a ghastly scene. Unbelievably, Liang Qingqing was crawling on the ground, just like a monster from a horror movie. She jumped toward her own mother and started to strangle her, as she lifted her mother off the ground.

“Hhhh … ”  Liao Qingqing emitted a very deep and low growl. She fixated her eyes on her mother. Liao Qingqing’s mouth opened wider and wider, and her face became as fierce as a beast’s.

A pseudo undead!

No one knew that such a thing could really happen in life. After only a few seconds of shock and silence, the crowd began to panic and yell for help. He Lili and the other girls quickly moved backward, and even most of the police officers were shocked and flustered. One of the officers instinctively pulled out his handgun and aimed it at Liao Qingqing. Then, he yelled with a voice laced with doubt, “Hey … put the lady down … or … I’ll kill you!”
