Xiao Ma and Zhuang Yuning gave a gasp of astonishment the moment they saw the belly of the beetle.

The beetle had a black outer shell but a blood-red belly; it had a few white dots that formed a human face: It had a pair of saggy eyes, and the corner of its lips pointed downward, resembling a Beijing Opera Facial Mask with a sorrowful expression.

Xiao Ma and Zhuang Yuning thought it was just a coincidence. However, when they looked closely, their legs gave way because the face was alive. It would blink intermittently and sometimes they could see red pupils in the eyes. When they gazed at the face for a longer period, they felt the face became bigger, and the corner of the lips tilted upward and cast an eerie smile.

They went blank and stretched out their arms, trying to touch the face. Suddenly, a shadow blocked between them and the face. They shuddered and came around. When they looked up, they saw Ye Shaoyang standing in front of them.

“What happened?” Zhuang Yuning screamed.

“It is just a spell, a simple trick.” Ye Shaoyang bent and caught the beetle. He looked over his shoulder and asked Zhuang Yuning, “Do you have Baijiu?”

Zhuang Yuning thought for a while, “How about rum?”

“What is rum?” Ye Shaoyang scratched his head.

“It is a type of western wine. I only have rum in my house. The alcohol content is quite high, almost similar to the Baijiu. Are you drinking it?”

“Nope. But we can try.”

Zhuang Yuning turned around and went back to the villa. After a while, she came back with a pint of amber colored wine. She opened the cover and handed it to Ye Shaoyang. He sniffed it and found the smell strange.

“Can it be used? If not, I can go and buy Baijiu.”

“It is okay. I can try using it.” Ye Shaoyang poured a little rum onto the beetle's face. The face distorted at once and groaned. Moments later, the face fainted and melted together with the rum.
