Chapter 290 The Story of The Child Spirit

When Zhuang Yuning walked to the revolving door, Ye Shaoyang rushed out. He took out the carpenter's ink marker, grasped one end of the cinnabar-soaked thread, and swung the marker out.

'Zhuang Yuning' sensed danger; she turned around and looked fiercely at Ye Shaoyang. Before she could react, the marker hit her right shoulder. With a pull, Ye Shaoyang manipulated the marker to hooked around her neck.

Zhuang Yuning cried as she tried to remove the thread. Ye Shaoyang moved behind her, grabbed the other end of the thread, tied a Daoist's knot in seconds, and pulled.

Surprisingly, a thin cinnabar thread could drag Zhuang Yuning down. At the same time, Xiao Ma ran out as he shouted, “I am sorry, Yuyu!” He kicked Zhuang Yuning's abdomen. She moaned in pain, and her body flew out and collapsed.

To Xiao Ma's surprise, the knot trapped a figure within it; it was a naked, pale boy, grasping the cinnabar thread and rolling over the ground. One moment, he tried to get up and blow at Ye Shaoyang's face.

Ye Shaoyang choked him and stuck a blank sheet of talisman paper onto his mouth. He flicked some cinnabar from his fingernails and quickly drew a curse. The Spirit Qi bulged the talisman paper and returned to the child spirit's mouth.

Next, something terrifying happened: Seven to eight black lines appeared on the child spirit's face, which stood in stark contrast to his deathly pale skin.

The black lines cracked and formed wounds on the child spirit's smooth face. The skin split and blood oozed out. What a ghastly sight.

“Damn….” Xiao Ma muttered to himself.

Ye Shaoyang's left hand continued to choke the spirit while his right thumb poked at the spirit's forehead as he recited an incantation. The right thumb curved up and pulled out a faint image, which disappeared into thin air seconds later.

Ye Shaoyang sighed quietly as he reached out for the Soul Quelling Stake from his belt and stabbed right at the spirit child's face, hard.

“Arrgh--” The child spirit let loose a heartrending cry. His four limbs struggled violently but Ye Shaoyang locked onto him and thrust the stake in completely. Black blood continuously oozed out and the child spirit shrunk and turned into a blood puddle.

Ye Shaoyang threw a talisman paper onto the blood puddle. Blue flames soared up once the talisman paper touched it. A moment later, the blood puddle dried up and the floor became as smooth as it previously was, leaving no trace behind.

Ye Shaoyang arrived beside Zhuang Yuning. She was still unconscious. So, he instructed Xiao Ma to pick her up and put her on his back. Just when they were about to exit the building, they heard police sirens; two police cars approached and stopped in front of the building.

Xie Yuqing exited one of the cars, followed by the other policemen. When they walked toward Ye Shaoyang, they were stupefied at the horrific scene at the revolving door. One of them shouted, “How can a revolving door kill? And it could even cut a human in half!”

Xie Yuqing showed no surprise as she knew a spirit was involved in this case. After she instructed the police to investigate and collect evidence, she approached Ye Shaoyang and glanced at the fainted Zhuang Yuning, “Someone died here. You have to make a record at the police station. Are you available now?”

“I am done here. Let's go.”

Xie Yuqing then got a police car for them and passed her job to the other police officer to handle. They would take care of the crime scene investigation while she drove the two and Zhuang Yuning back to the district police station.

When they had arrived, Xie Yuqing called two policewomen over to carry Zhuang Yuning to the restroom, and she led Ye Shaoyang and Xiao Ma to a room next to it to get a verbal report from both of them. Xiao Ma started to tell about the whole incident, and Ye Shaoyang sat on the chair and pondered.

After Xiao Ma explained everything, Xie Yuqing took a deep breath and gaped. She dropped her notebook and smiled bitterly, “I don't think I can take your words as a verbal report. I will inform my superior and maybe just simply write something to fulfill the protocol.”

She raised her head and looked at Ye Shaoyang, “Although I might have some trouble in handling a death case, it was lucky that you killed the spirit, which means case closed.”

Ye Shaoyang glanced at her, “Since when did I claim that I have killed it? I have only killed a piece of its soul, not its true self.”

Ye Shaoyang's reply made Xie Yuqing and Xiao Ma jump.

“So where is it now?” Xie Yuqing asked.

“I don't know; this case is complicated. It is not as simple as you think. I want to interrogate Zhuang Yuning when she is awake.”

Xie Yuqing replied, “All right. You'd better changed and take a bath. Look at you two, soaking wet.”

After she reminded him, Ye Shaoyang finally realized that his whole body was dripping until the area beneath him formed a big puddle of water. He could not help but shake his head, “There is no difference since I have been soaked for the whole night. I will do it when I am back. But, I am worried about Miss Zhuang. Can you please give her extra clothes to keep her warm?”

Xie Yuqing giggled, “Well, I never knew you were such a caring gentleman.”

“What are you talking? She fainted and would easily get sick. Besides, I still have many questions to ask her.”

“Don't worry. I have arranged matters nicely for her.”

Xiao Ma poked Ye Shaoyang's arm and asked timidly, “Could it be my kick that caused her to faint?”

“Do you think your kick can make someone collapse? She had been possessed and her mortal, life, and heaven soul have gone haywire. It is normal for her to fall unconscious.”

Just when they were discussing matters, one of the female police officer who was ordered to take care of Zhuang Yuning came and reported to Xie Yuqing that the latter had regained consciousness.

Xie Yuqing looked at Ye Shaoyang, seeking for his opinion.

“Let's meet her.” Ye Shaoyang stood up.

Zhuang Yuning wore clean-pajamas and stared blankly at the bed in the restroom. Her eyes beamed with hope the moment she saw Ye Shaoyang, “Mr. Ye, have you killed the child spirit?”

Ye Shaoyang shook his head; he looked at her and said in a cold voice, “Miss Zhuang, I want to know the details of the child spirit.”

His words stupefied Zhuang Yuning at once; it had the same effect on Xiao Ma and Xie Yuqing. How could Zhuang Yuning know the spirit's details when a Heavenly Master did not know?

However, Zhuang Yuning hung her head and looked guilty, “I….”

“Let me get this clear. I am asking in this way because I have obtained some important clues. You'd better be honest and tell the whole truth. If not, I am out. I can return the money you have paid to me.
