Spirit Hunters of Maoshan Sect Chapter 29 Interrogation

Chapter 29         Interrogation 

Ye Shaoyang, Xiao Ma, and Old Guo left the hospital and returned to the hotel. 

The three of them gathered at Ye Shaoyang’s room and started to interrogate the evil spirits. Ye Shaoyang took out the two talisman papers and released the spirits. One was male and the other was female. The two spirits were now in their original forms, which was the appearance they had when they died. Blood covered the male spirit and one of his arms loosely hung from his shoulder. The only connective tissue left were some tendons and flesh. His skull was half cracked open, and the only thing left inside was a big mess of red and grey. This gruesome scene almost made Xiao Ma regurgitate his dinner. The female spirit only had a big hole in her abdomen and seemed comparatively better.  

The two spirits stood in front of Ye Shaoyang with fear and respect; they did not dare to move. Ye Shaoyang questioned the female spirit first, “Are you two together?”

The female spirit nodded in affirmation. 

“Have you always been in dormitory four, or did the Ouija board attract you?”

The female spirit replied truthfully, “Mister, we’ve always cultivated in the dormitory.”

Then, Ye Shaoyang asked, “Where is the spirits nest in dormitory four?”

“It’s underground. There is a seal on the first floor, so we never could go in. We only cultivated in room 404. Many people have died in room 404, so it’s filled with Yin Qi.”

Ye Shaoyang lightly nodded his head in agreement, as his speculations aligned with what the female spirit had answered. The seal had created a boundary between the spirit nest and the outside world, so no spirit could enter or exit the place.

“Where is the seal?” Ye Shaoyang asked.

The female spirit shook her head and replied, “Mister, we really don’t know. All we know is that it is on the first floor. We could only feel the power of the seal, but we dare not go close to it.”

Then, Ye Shaoyang became very serious and asked, “Answer me truthfully. Why did you harm those school girls?” 

The female spirit nervously replied, “I … I wanted to kill her and use her for my cultivation.”

As expected, they used the evil path of cultivation. Since this was the case, there was nothing more to speak of. 

“Last question. Are there any more spirits in the dormitory?”

The female spirit shook her head and replied, “No, we are the only ones there. We have chased out the other spirits.”

After he listened to her reply, Ye Shaoyang proceeded to write out two Soul Guiding Talisman Papers and showed it to them, “You guys have killed more than one person. You know the rules, right?”  The two spirits were scared. They had killed more than one person, so they would have to suffer in the underworld for many, many years. The two spirits immediately kneeled down to kowtow, “Please mister, we suffered a lot in our lifetimes …. ”

“Hold it. Tell it to the judge in the underworld. Do you guys want to go willingly, or do I have to use force?” Ye Shaoyang mercilessly looked at them. 

The two spirits looked at each other, and they knew they had no other choice. The female spirit was still pondering, but out of nowhere, the male spirit jumped up toward Ye Shaoyang and tried to attack him. The male spirit did not plan to go down without a fight!

“Fool,” Ye Shaoyang shook his head and formed a hand seal. Then, he used his right palm to strike the chest of the male spirit when it came close. This time, the male spirit was not pushed back. Instead, he instantly shattered into pieces of primordial spirit and scattered around the room. The female spirit laid down helplessly and began to cry. 

“You guys have killed so many people. I’m already giving you face by letting you go to the underworld to clear your debts!” Ye Shaoyang looked at the female spirit and asked, “Do you want the same treatment?”

It was definitely better to suffer in the underworld than to become pieces of primordial spirit. If one became a primordial spirit, they would have to go to the underworld and go through the six paths of transmigration. Then, they had to wait for two hundred years to gather as a whole spirit again. After she weighed her options, the female spirit let out a sigh and instantly became a puff of smoke. Then, she infused into the talisman paper ….

“Little Ye, don’t you think it’s a bit cruel?” Xiao Ma asked with concern. 

Ye Shaoyang gave him a quicky stare and said, “Cruel? What about when they killed all those innocent people; weren’t they cruel? What about when she destroyed that girl’s face? Who is going to pay for all that? I was already quite patient with them. If it were my master, he would have immediately whacked them into pieces of primordial spirit.”

Xiao Ma slowly nodded and said, “Yeah, Liao Qingqing really has it bad. But I don’t get it, why did the female spirit go into her and do such a horrible thing to her face?”

“That is to scare the other three girls. When a person is excessively spooked, their Yang Qi will decrease. Usually, a person has three Yang lights on them. One above their head and two on each shoulder. If a ghost can blow out one of these lights, it will be easier for them to enter. It takes a considerable amount of energy for a spirit to possess a person that has a lot of Yang Qi.” 

After Xiao Ma learned this fact, he said, “No wonder spirits usually scare their victims before they do anything to them.”

Then, Old Guo said, “Shaoyang, what do you plan to do with dormitory four?”

“I’ll definitely deal with that place,” Ye Shaoyang replied, “But we cannot muscle our way through. I’ll do some research first. At least, we have to find out where the position of the nest is. I’ll go tomorrow night to do some scouting.” 

At this moment, Ye Shaoyang let out a long yawn and jumped into bed, “I really worked too much today. I need to sleep now. Good night,” muttered Ye Shaoyang, as he closed his eyes.

“Yeah, I’ll go back to my room and sleep too,” said Old Guo. Then, he left the room. On the other hand, Xiao Ma stayed in Ye Shaoyang’s room and helped lock the door. Then, he proceeded to climb up the bed and wormed his way into Ye Shaoyang’s blanket. Ye Shaoyang felt the movement and turned around to look. He saw Xiao Ma looking at him with pitiful eyes, like a cat pleading for affection. Ye Shaoyang immediately shot up and yelled, “What are you doing?!” 

Little Ye, please let me sleep with you. I’m really scared that the specter might come and look for me again … ” said Xiao Ma. Then, he pointed at the painting and told Ye Shaoyang his grievances, “I checked all the rooms and every single one of them has a painting of Jesus. Maybe the hotel owner is Christian. But if I go into my dreams this time, I’ll be directly going to see God!”

His worries left Ye Shaoyang speechless. In response, Ye Shaoyang took out some red string and strung one old Chinese coin on it. Then, he tied it three times around Xiao Ma’s middle finger and said, “Now, even if he has a thousand years of cultivation, he won’t be able to bring out your soul. That is, unless he kills your body.”

“Kill me?”

“He won’t kill you. Now go and leave me alone,” said Ye Shaoyang, as he went back into his blanket. But yet again, Xiao Ma stuck to him. 

“Hehe, I still think it’s better to sleep with you. I feel more secure that way.” 

Ye Shaoyang mercilessly kicked him off the bed and even threatened him with the Thunder Talisman Paper. Finally, Ye Shaoyang was able to chase him out and lock the door. Then, he returned to bed, but he was still pissed at the fact that Xiao Ma had become addicted to sleeping beside him! 

Ye Shaoyang was really tired, so he slept until the next afternoon. When he got up, he went to find Old Guo and Xiao Ma to go over to Old Guo’s shop. Then, Ye Shaoyang bought the best hell notes and the best incense to burn for Mr. Zhang, the spirit reporter. Mr. Zhang appeared in the smoke and the fire like a heavy smoker. He puffed away and enjoyed himself in the incense smoke, “Not bad little fella. You know the good stuff.” 

“Enjoy yourself,” replied Ye Shaoyang. Then,  he went back into the shop. Xiao Ma followed along and softly asked, “I don’t understand. Why does a spirit reporter pay so much attention to hell notes and incense? They are so cheap, and anyone can just burn it.”

Then, Ye Shaoyang replied, “Would you burn hell notes for a stranger?”

Xiao Ma shook his head. 

“There’s your reason, Mr. Zhang has been a spirit reporter for hundreds of years, so his later generations have probably already forgotten about him. At the same time, he is a spirit commissioner, so he can’t just go rob other spirits. As such, the only way left is to work for it.”

Xiao Ma asked in return, “Hey, so if he is a spirit commissioner, I bet his cultivation level must be pretty high. Does he hunt spirits too?”

“Normally they don’t. There are spirit hunters to hunt spirits. We are one kind of spirit hunter,” said Ye Shaoyang. Then, he shook his hand and said, “You’re just a normal person, you don’t need to know about these things. Brother Guo, show me the map you were talking about.”

Old Guo went into his room and fetched a piece of folded paper. He opened the piece of paper up on the table and said, “This is what I got off the bamboo leaf. Tell me what you think.”

“Thank you for putting the effort into drawing it out,” said Ye Shaoyang, Old Guo’s attention to detail impressed him. After a while of observation, Ye Shaoyang’s face became more and more strange.
